We speak to the British author Patrick G. Cox whose first novel Out Of Time is already out in print and his second novel, The Enemy Within, is just coming out. Both books are part of an ongoing series about a trio of nineteenth century sailors who find themselves transported into the near future where they face adventure amongst the stars. Q1: How did you find yourself coming to write Out Of Time? A: I’ve been fascinated by sci-fi from an early age, Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon, Jet Ace Logan, Jason January were all my comic book heroes. My parents had a collection of Pan anthologies which included some sci-fi and it was through these that I encountered Arthur C Clark, Isaac Asimov and Robert Heinlein. Writing stories has been a hobby...
Melissa Mead first novel Between Worlds is about the Kankenni race who live underground under constant threat from humans and one half breed girl, Miska, who ventures into the human realm exploring humanity through innocent eyes that learn fast. Q1: How did you decide to get into writing professionally? A: I didn't decide so much as grow into it. I tried to stop once, but it wouldn't let me. Now I just want to write. If I had to depend on it for my living I'd be too stressed to write. (and broke to boot!) Q2: How far back can you remember putting pen to paper? A: I think there's something in my baby book from around age 5. That was around the same time my camp counselors gave me "The Imagination Award." Q3: What was your first...

Have you been concentrating all your spare time writing the novel? A few minutes here, a half hour there? A: Yes, exactly. Every spare second I could find went to the novel. At times it was a grind but I really enjoyed the writing process. I think the satisfaction came when I had finally reached the end and it was...

We speak to Anderson Gentry who's first novel The Crider Chronicles is out in both print and e-book, with a plan to carry on his story over four volumes spanning almost 500 years of exploration, colonial enterprises and fighting criminals and aliens alike in mankind's quest for a future in the galaxy. Q1: How did you find yourself choosing your path in writing science fiction? A: I’ve been influenced by science-fiction from a very early age. Writers are always readers, and I taught myself to read at age three. My Dad was a science-fiction reader, and much of my early reading involved thumbing through copies of Dad’s old pulp sci-fi magazines in the early Sixties. I read Asimov’s Foundation series when I was junior high school, and...

Q1: How long did it take to write your first novel from start to finish and what sort of commitments did you have over that time that becoming a writer might get you away from now you are finally classed as self-employed (work/college/etc)? I spent many Friday nights at home working on the book, whilst my friends were hitting the town, but in the end it was worth it.
