Politics USA Presidential Discussion Thread (2016)

I note this morning those shining bastions of Democracy North Korea have endorsed Trump
Does Trump have anything to gain financially from NK? He's been trying to get into Russia for years (and failing) so him getting chummy with Putin is understandable but I don't know how NK would benefit from a Trump presidency.

Not the point, North Korea (for whatever the reason) were reported as being pro-Trump, strange times we live in.

The North Korean endorsement is likely a result of Trump saying that he'd meet with Kim Jong Un.... Trump: I'll meet with Kim Jong Un in the U.S.

For all of Trump's posturing with Russia & NK it's surprising that when it comes to Cuba he seems to be leaning to rolling back the recent Obama initiatives and actually closing the US embassy again in Cuba until he can "get a better deal".

Him getting a "better deal" seems to be his favorite catchphrase when it comes to anything related to international relations.

Watching tonight's debate... it's bad that Clinton is able to stand there silently while Trump sounds like a conspiracy nut arguing with the moderator.

Sheeple are addicted to being offended to the point that everything is controversial. I'll bet that when Trump was in school, he drew a picture of a gun. I did. I heard that Trump takes a morning dump. OMG we can't have a POTUS that manufactures poo. Hitlery is full of the stuff. What will we do, what Will we do?

We have black Americans so busy being offended for how they were treated in the past that they forget that they are people too.

We have white Americans that are so petrified of terrorists that any Muslim must be one.

We have Hispanic Americans that believe this nation should conform to their standards.

We have corporate America who's sole purpose is to collect as much money as possible and lock it away for a select few.

We have medical America that overcharges for time and materials and does very little actual work.

We have insurance America that splits coverage so they can charge us for individual policies for things that should be part of the whole.

We have media America that uses their 'voice' to direct what we think, feel, use and do.

We have military America that fights to make the world accept our ideals.

We have religious America that twists the idea of God and Salvation to their own agendas.

Then we have Sheeple of America that are so wrapped up in their instant gratification and self-importance that they don't even notice what is actually happening.

Finally, we have People of America that are getting fed up with all the bullshit. It is inevitable that we will unite and take back our nation. It will be brutal and deadly and cities will burn. Thankfully, I am in the last years of my life, but I worry about our grandchildren. The destruction of our nation is happening right now. It is not as slow as global warming. Our deterioration is speeding up. Can't you Sheeple see that?

So is this a foregone conclusion in November? Aussie tabloids are reporting Trump is in trouble even in traditional Republican states, will be watching the results when they flow in with intense fascination.

It doesn't matter who you voted for.

If the POTUS does not represent you to the rest of the world, You voted for the wrong one.
If the POTUS does not reflect your interests on national concerns, You voted for the wrong one.
If the POTUS can't budget our money, You voted for the wrong one.
If POTUS is more concerned with implimenting their changes than the will of the people, You voted for the wrong one.

Our system of government does not need to be fixed. It needs to be dismantled and disected then rebuilt completely.

Election day people, reports widely varying on who will win, guess that translates to anything could happen on the day. Fingers crossed this year a major news agency calls it wrong again

On a Facebook post about celbs that will leave if Trump is Elected:

A Bit of Friendly Advice

If you are in our country illegally you should be working right now to get a Visa or a Green Card or making your way home. If you can't afford to get home, go to any police office and tell them your situation and we give you a ride. If all else fails, you might be able to hitch a lift out of our country with one of these people.

As for those poor deluded people in this article, You didn't get what you want and my heart bleeds for you. Now, hold your word and go away. If you were lying, manipulating or playing the media, go away. Just remember that the nation you run to may not have the freedoms that allowed you to be this spoiled.

I am watching...and waiting

Here is a list of some of the celebs who claimed they would move out of the U.S. under a Trump administration.

Actors

Bryan Cranston said he hopes he doesn’t have to pack his bags, but would “definitely move” if Trump won. “Absolutely, I would definitely move,” the “Breaking Bad” star said on “The Bestseller Experiment” podcast. “It’s not real to me that that would happen. I hope to God it won’t.”

Samuel L. Jackson slammed Trump for running a “hate”-filled campaign and said he would move to South Africa if he wins. “If that motherf---er becomes president, I’m moving my black ass to South Africa,” the movie star quipped to Jimmy Kimmel.

Lena Dunham told Andy Cohen at the Matrix Awards that “I know a lot of people have been threatening to do this, but I really will. I know a lovely place in Vancouver.” The star and creator of HBO’s “Girls” has been a vocal advocate for Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee.

Neve Campbell, an actress on the political drama “House of Cards,” vowed to move back home to Canada, while “Orange is the New Black” actress Natasha Lyonne said she would hightail it to a mental hospital.

Singers

Cher tweeted this summer that if Trump gets elected, “I’m moving to Jupiter.”

Miley Cyrus wrote in an emotional Instagram post in March that tears were running down her cheek and she was unbelievably scared and sad. “I am moving if he is president,” the young pop star said. “I don’t say things I don’t mean!”

Barbara Streisand, a vocal Clinton supporter, told “60 Minutes” that “I’m either coming to your country if you’ll let me in, or Canada.”

Ne-Yo told TMZ last month that he’d move to Canada and be neighbors with fellow R&B singer Drake if the country elected Trump.

Comedians

Comedian Amy Schumer said in September that Spain would be her destination of choice.

“My act will change because I will need to learn to speak Spanish,” Schumer said in an appearance on the BBC’s “Newsnight.” “Because I will move to Spain or somewhere. It’s beyond my comprehension if Trump won. It’s just too crazy.”

Chelsea Handler said she already made contingency plans months ago.

“I did buy a house in another country just in case,” the comedian and talk show host said during an appearance on “Live with Kelly and Michael” in May. “So all these people that threaten to leave the country and then don’t — I actually will leave that country.”

Former “Daily Show” host Jon Stewart said he would consider “getting in a rocket and going to another planet, because clearly this planet’s gone bonkers” if the real estate mogul wins.

Whoopi Goldberg, co-host of the “The View”, said on an episode of the talk show earlier this year that if the country elects Trump, “maybe it’s time for me to move, you know. I can afford to go.”

Keegan-Michael Key said he would flee north to Canada. “It’s like, 10 minutes from Detroit,” the comedian told TMZ in January. “That’s where I’m from; my mom lives there. It’d make her happy too.”

Hispanic comedian George Lopez said Trump “won’t have to worry about immigration” if he takes the White House because “we’ll all go back.”

Political Figures

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg joked in an interview with The New York Times in July that it’d be time to move to New Zealand if Trump were to win.

“Now it’s time for us to move to New Zealand,” she said quoting her husband who died in 2010. “I can’t imagine what the country would be with Donald Trump as our president. For the country, it could be four years. For the court, it could be — I don’t even want to contemplate that.”

Ginsburg later apologized for her comments, calling them “ill-advised.”

Civil rights activist Al Sharpton told a reporter earlier this year that he’s “reserving my ticket out of here if [Trump] wins.”

Now I'm really really upset.

We saw your Dubya Jnr and raised the stakes with the Village Idiot Abbott being elected, but oh no you had to go one better and elect the village buffoon Trump, holy hell, anyone got Clive Palmer's number, we need to take this to the next level Australia.

I'm just curious if he can actually do the job? Will he represent the people of this nation or his impression of the people of this nation?

Tom am avoiding a lot of sites where it's doom and gloom. The effect Trump's election will have on us all, probably not a lot, he could be first U.S Pres facing a hostile senate and house of reps from his own party

My initial impression.

He's promised a lot to middle America that he simply doesn't have the skills to deliver, there's going to be one hell of a backlash when the rust belt wake up to the reality that he was lying to get their vote.

His promise to ensure only legal immigrants would come in from Mexico, and I assume elsewhere, is naive in the extreme.

My prediction is he will collapse after a year of trying to do what U.S Presidents do, you know the 18th hour days, the deluge of information, advisors disagreeing with his thoughts, and an increasingly hostile press.

People in U.S cities need to simmer down a tad though, its called "democracy" - the other guy won, let it go. If you really wont to protest then refuse to do tax returns etc, hit Washington where it really hurts ;)

Actually the US is a republic, not a true democracy. If it was a true democracy then the popular vote would've come into play. ;)

As much as it may seem like a cruel joke on the US, Trump, though, did win and as such US citizens need to hope that he succeeds as leader.

Plus if we get four years of Alec Baldwin portraying Trump on SNL, that won't be a bad thing!

Kevin sorry to burst your bubble but you do live in a "democracy", I don't think any Country with a democratic system has a Government that won the majority of the popular vote. I note Clinton is now out polling trump, our own Government came in with well under 50% of the primary vote, and we have politicians who were elected on a hand full of votes.

Are we sure Trump has actually won?

New Hampshire has gone democrat and missed the state, but one of them with 18 votes is now back in the could go either way camp. Take 18 away from Trump and is dangerously close to losing. Would be the ultimate twist if postal votes give Clinton the White House

Note Trump is toning down the statements in the face of a heck of a lot of protest.
