Anyone else catch the premiere episode last night? Myself, I thought it took a while to get into, and they beat the "monotheists as terrorists" line to death, but overall I enjoyed it. Plenty of setup for the rest of the season...

Also want to know when I can buy my very own holo-band... :D

I saw the TV version also; didn't want to spend the cash to pick up the pilot on DVD. I have mixed feelings about it. The origins of the Cylons could be fascinating but it playing out more like a Melrose Place type show rather than the feel of the BSG. Plus I am starting to get lost in the continuity between the re-imagined BSG and this spin-off. For example, in BSG in Adama's room he had a painting of an ancient battle between Cylons & Humans. The painting is as being the first cylon war between the colonies & cylons and since Caprica takes place about 100 years before BSG that war had to be pretty recent... but yet the paining clearly shows an ancient scene. Now if it is an ancient scene that takes place on Earth, who created their own version of Cylons thousands of years ago, then how do the colonies know about that? It just goes round & round.

At least the writers were blunt about what kind of usage led to its popularity. :D

So, far, I'm really enjoying the rest of the series...though I do have to agree with it having several Melrose Place-like factors...

Unfortunately, I still need to go back and watch the first few seasons of BSG...but Caprica stated in the premiere that it takes place 38 years before "the fall." I'm wondering if that's related to the timing of the first cylon war?

Watched the latest couple of eps and it just trundled on by. Nothing special really. Not like BSG was. Just waiting to see where it goes.

The caption in the pilot said: 58 years before the Fall of the Twelve Colonies.

Anyway, it's written in such a way that you sympathize with and care about all of the characters. Everyone has their own personal problems that aren't overly wangsty at all. Although Mrs. Graystone did have a rather extreme nervous breakdown.

I'm quite interested in seeing where Jane Espenson goes with the physical arrangement of the Cyrannus system itself. We never really learned how it fit together in BSG.

Looking good and interesting so far...though I agree some of the stories have more in common with Dallas than BSG...so far anyway. However lets give it time and space to develope assuming its not axed prematurely; which is a very real and present danger to all TV Sci-Fi these days.
