You're right, experienced/new doesn't make any sense now that I think about it. I'm hoping it's not the first one. APO has enough old people. But he doesn't look like the type of person to play the third option. When I look at him with a "young and experienced" lens, I see a guy who's gonna think he's too good for APO and turn against them. :confused: Or be against them from the beginning! Aha. He just looks so evil everytime I look at him.

One thing though, he better not be related to any of the characters. :mellow:

Or Vaughn could have been out when Eric started to become a regular! 😆 Or.. or, Sloane... ewww I shouldn't go there. :Pinch:

Yeah, everybody is already hating Balthazar, and the show hasn't even started ... remember how the fans reacted to Lauren :Ph34r:

She was the most hated new addition to the show, and now she is gone ... well, I just hope the fans gives JJ the chance to explore ... with this new agent a new direction and try and save the show from cancellation ... (y)

Yeah I remember! But Lauren was married to Vaughn, she =threat! :lol: That kinda stopped fans from wanting to adapt to her. :hmm: Ok guys, Balthy isn't married to Vaughn so be nice to him! (the people who are still watching that is.) Although, that would be a really interesting twist if he was.

There's not much discussion on the other two new cast members. :confused: And I noticed, this thread seems to be more about Vaughn than the new male agent. 😆

He's 30 on the 1st of September. Which makes him only 7.5 months younger than Balthazar Getty.

I was looking at spoiler fix and it looks like

Balthazar Getty is set to join the cast of "Alias" for the series' fifth season. Getty will play Thomas Grace, a new agent who joins the APO team and a man with a long history of deep cover experience.

P.S. Gahh noooo! I personally would love to see him as better than all the others... Give them a shock, kinda. They've been restig on their laurels with their skills way too long... I'd love to have this guy come in and trounce them all. :D In fact... I'd really love to see him as an expert sharpshooter. That would be fun. (y)
 
It is possible that I will like the new agent but the writers will have to make him an interesting compelling character. Don't think that just because he is pretty that I will like him. Personally, I don't find him that attractive. Also, make sure he serves a purpose other than the newbie female agent's love interest. I have to believe he will be the new girl's love interest simply because I think the idea that Syd would be anxious to get into a new relationship after Vaughn's death (or "death") and having so many questions about him would be ridiculous and unrealistic.

I don't think Syd will have time for a new love interest this season. It sounds like B.G (who I think is really hot, btw), will be someone that may bring a smile to Syd's face, similar to Weiss or Will or Francie. I don't know that they'll be friends per se, but I do believe they had to bring in someone close to Syd's age that she could have some interaction with.

What I find more interesting is that perilousgirl was clearly right about this casting. Could it be that she is also right about the fact that all parties agreed on the exit of this character and that Vaughn/Vartan is going to a better place?

I wouldn't mind if he became a friend to Syd. God knows Syd is gonna need some friends for S5! I also think the smart thing to do is not make him the new Weiss or the new Vaughn. No one can ever replace those characters. Have him be his own character not ripoff another one.

I certainly hope that Vartan has gotten a great new job. Maybe JJ wasn't kidding when he said Vaughn was in the LOST hatch!

It said "long history of deep cover experience". He could be better than others. Hmm the "deep cover" part makes me wonder if he's like undercover at APO... Like a villian or something. Yes, I still think he looks evil. I'm watching you Getty!! :hmm:

Maybe he kinda has to grow on people. To be honest, I didn't find Vaughn attractive at all until after around 5 episodes. :run:

And I hope he's not a love interest until... after awhile. Season 1 did just fine and no one was with anyone. :rolleyes: But I agree, new girl's love interest is better than Sydney's. Ugh, and I just might die, if a love triangle arose between him, new girl, and Sydney. :o_O: :lame:
 
Audie, I think the character's role will rest with each individual's point of view. Some are gonna see him as a replacement of Vaughn and Weiss no matter what the guy does. I get a feeling that a certain percentage of the fans will not give this character a chance. I know I've given both Lauren and Nadia a chance and had vastly different opinions on both, but I still think it was important to at least see how it played out before I formed an opinion.

I will say this, I'm so happy they are finally introducing a new, regular male character. They haven't done that since Sark in Season 2.

I'm looking forward to seeing a character with extensive deep cover experience. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he knows something about the Vaughn situation.

Word. That's because many people could care less. There is no replacement for Vaughn. If Vaughn's not there, I'm not there. The heart of Alias dies with him. (n)
