Season 5 New Male Agent

I don't think he's there to replace Vaughn. Well it's more like I hope he's not there to replace Vaughn.

So Vaughn's the heart of Alias? I thought Marshall said he was the brains, and Vaughn was the looks. I think the heart would be more like... Dixon: Very important, but no one ever notices. Eh? How's that for some symbolism? :heh:

Vaughn isn't the most important character in the show, because the Alias story isn't about him. In fact, he's been the least involved in the overall story arc, despite recent efforts to include him in the Rambaldi plot.

However, he is important to Sydney, and so important to the show in that matter.

I can see that nobody is going to give the new guy a chance. Like I said before, it's like Lauren all over agin.

Poor guy.....

I don't think anyone would suggest that anybody is the single most important character on the show, except for maybe Sydney. But I do think that both Jack and Vaughn are so vital to her that should one or both of them go, part of what is the "heart" of the show would die. I know that is what I fell in love with in the beginning, those complex dynamics between her and Vaughn and her and Jack. It was really the whole thing for me. It is a spy show, yes, but underneath that it is about characters and relationships. Assasinate your characters, kill the relationships, what is left? Sadness, broken promises... Nothing I'm interested in watching. The new guy is nothing but a distraction from what is really going on. It isn't his fault.

It just seems so much like the last season on the X-files. Everytime I tuned in I was just praying I would get to see Moulder. It wasn't the new characters' fault but I just wanted to see Moulder and Scully. Those other people had nothing to do with anything IMO.

 You do. Maybe I'll sound like a mom! "Aww calm down now, he may be new and male, but he's not stupid. You have to give him a try ok?" ^_^

Does anyone else feel TOTALLY betrayed that Vaughn could be lying to Syd to "us" all this time- I've been watching all the old seasons and I'm watching them now thinking- oh..ahh..maybe he is a double...but wait..no way....
Don't get me wrong- I love Vaughn and his chemistry with Syd...but I don't know that I want to see another "bad" side of him...I mean how long has he been "Bad" since Syd disappeared or since they first met???

I don't think he is going to replace vaughn but someone else... but I don't know cause imdb says that he is in ghost whisperer and is still filming, so either he is only in a couple of episodes there and gets killed or he is pulling double duty and doing both shows.

I hope that he isn't being put on as a "love interesti" for anyone. I hope these new agents have their own lives and we can have a little bit of season one with the new agents trying to live double lives.

my sentiments exactly! I hope JJ had planned this all along, that this wasn't just something they thought up overnight--like the whole Lauren being bad thing--she wasn't supposed to be bad and then one day the writers decide to go with it---that explains why you can't tell if she was bad by watching the earlier S3 episodes! If the writers decide to make Vaughn bad just for the heck of it, to mess with our heads--it would completely cheapen the show, and make the greatness of S1 and S2 seem really fake----------all this character development and plot twists would have been for nothing!

Thats a good point, do you guys think JJ knew all along that he was gonna have vaughn be not vaughn because in a dark turn vaughn says

"look theres something you don't know about me"

I don't think he was refering to his invesegation on Irina

True! I remember watching something, and some one was talking about JJ. They said, "This guy has plans for season five!" Or was it six? I'm not gonna remember, I don't even remember where I heard it. But I do remember watching it, you can trust that! (y) -_- Yeah, right I probably imagined it. Just thought I'd bring it up anyways. ^_^
