Here we go....
~ Part 8
“Let’s get out of here.” Vaughn whispered as Sydney kept on kissing his neck.
“Yeah, we should go before we get arrested for public exposure.” She laughed.
“You’re place or mine?” Vaughn asked, trying to stop his head from spinning.
“Mine, it’s closer.” Sydney said breathless.
“You’re place, it is.” He said grabbing her hand and heading out from the store.
They quickly made their way to the parking lot when suddenly Sydney stopped walking and let go of his hand.
“What’s the matter?” Vaughn stared at her, a confused look upon his face.
“We can’t do this, it’s too soon and I shouldn‘t be about to sleep with a client and a man I barely know. Maybe we should…” She started saying as he took a step closer to her and cupped her face between his hands.
“Sydney, I don’t want you to do anything you’re not ready for. We’ll wait.” he smiled
“You must hate me now, don’t you?” She said lowering her eyes to the ground.
He laughed and lifted her chin up to look at her, “Not at all. I completely understand why you want to wait and I promise you when we do get together, it will be when we’re both ready.”
“Thank you…for understanding.” She said staring into his eyes.
“Oh, don’t thank me. You’re special to me Sydney and I don’t want you to think that I only want a fling with you, because I don’t.”
“You have a way to make a girl feels special.” she said stroking his face.
“Actually, that’s my specialty.” He grinned into a huge smile as she busted out laughing
“Well, I guess, I better go if I want to get ready for your party.” She said taking her car keys out of her purse.
“s*** my party, I totally forgot.” he said looking at his watch.
She laughed even more, “Go and I’ll see you later.” She said getting into her car
“Syd.” He stepped close to the car door , bent down and grabbed her face in his hands and leaned in to kiss her. She placed her hands around his neck as she pulled him closer to her. She played with the hair in the back of his neck as he moaned into her mouth. After a few minutes, she broke the kiss and they rested their foreheads together as they were both breathless. Vaughn stared at her as he tried to put two coherent words together. She just smiled and kissed him once again quickly before starting the car.
“I‘ll see you later.” Vaughn finally managed to say, trying to catch his breath.
“Yeah. See you later.” she said as he moved to the side to let her back up her car.
He walked back to his car and was about to leave when his cell phone rang.
“Hello.”
“Where the hell are you man, I’m outside your house with all the beer and you’re no where in sight?” Weiss asked slightly irritated.
“I got a little side-tracked, I’m on my way now. I should be there in twenty minutes.” he said pulling out of the parking lot.
“Is your sister coming tonight?” Weiss asked intrigued. The truth is Weiss has had a major crush on Jessica, Vaughn’s baby sister for a year now without ever telling her how he feels.
“Why, planning on finally making a move on my baby sister?”
“She’s 28 years old Mike, definitely not a baby anymore.” Weiss groaned
“So are you ever going to tell her how you feel about her?” Vaughn said as he paid close attention to the traffic ahead of him.
“In due time my friend, I’m proceeding with caution on this one.”
“If you go any slower, you’ll be fifty when you finally reveal that silly crush you have on her.” Vaughn teased.
“Hey, I resent that. It’s not a silly crush. Your sister is a goddess and should be treated like one.” Weiss replied.
“Whatever.” Vaughn rolled his eyes. “I’m almost home. You didn’t drink all the beer while waiting for me, did you?”
“I had one. Hey I was thirsty, but don’t you worry that pretty head of yours, there plenty more to go around.” Weiss joked.
“Good. I’m five minutes away, did we forget anything for tonight‘s party?” Vaughn said as he waited at the red light.
“Don’t think so. Weiss thought for a second. “Will is bringing the booze and Nadia said she would be making her famous triple layers chocolate cake. Mmm.” Weiss said licking his lips in anticipation of Nadia’s cake.
“Stop thinking about food, I need you to focus.” Vaughn said finally pulling-in in his driveway.
“About what?” Weiss said, getting up from his seat on the front porch and joining Vaughn by his car.
“I want everything for this party to be perfect.” Vaughn said unloading a few grocery bags.
“Why are you so nervous about tonight? He inquired “Oh, wait. Is that girl you were with the other day…what was her name? He racked his brain. “ Sydney, that’s her name, right? Is she coming here tonight?”
“If you must know everything, “Vaughn said trying to avoid Weiss’s amused stare as he looked at him, “yes, she’s coming over tonight and I would really like to make a good impression on her.”
“Then, we’ll try to limit the embarrassing stories about you to a minimum.” Weiss laughed as Vaughn just rolled his eyes.”
“Let’s get inside before I change my mind and keep you out of my party.”
“You wouldn’t do that Mike, I’m your best friend, remember?” Weiss padded Vaughn on the back.
“I need to sincerely reconsider my choice of friends, from now on.” Vaughn sighed.
Sydney was in her apartment, trying to decide on what to wear. Vaughn told her that the party was just a gathering between friends and to dress casually. She quickly showered and with her silk robe tightly wrapped around her body, she went downstairs to get her bag from Victoria Secrets. Laura Bristow always reminded her daughter to put on nice underwear just in case she ever got into an accident or in Sydney’s case tonight, if she decides to spend the night with Vaughn. She marched back upstairs, opened her bag and took out a black lace bra and matching thong and put it on. She stood in front of the mirror and smiled as she imagined Vaughn’s hands all over her as he slowly undressed her.
There she was already assuming he would ever want to sleep with her after she shot him down this afternoon. He said he was willing to wait for the perfect time for their first time to happen, but in reality she didn’t want to wait. She wanted him and now. She quickly put on a pair of old jeans and a black v-neck shirt that emphases all her curves. She applied a little bit of makeup and made her way downstairs to call Francie.
After the third ring, Ken answered the phone. “Hello.”
At first Sydney thought she dialed the wrong number but when she heard Francie giggle in the background when she asked who it was, she knew she has interrupted an intimate moment.
“Ken, it’s Sydney. Are you guys still coming to the party tonight?”
“Yeah, I was just helping Francie pick up her clothes for the party.”
“Uh, huh, can you put her on.”
“Hello. “Francie answered still giggling as she told Ken to stop tickling her.
“Okay, I’m on my way to Michael’s house now, you’ll meet me there?”
“We should be there soon and Syd, thanks for the invite.”
“I’ll see you guys later.”
“Bye.”
Sydney got in her car and made her way to Vaughn’s house in a record time. When she got there, she saw that a party was definitely on its way. You could hear music blasting from the backyard. She made her way to the front porch and rang the bell. A few second later, Weiss opened the door.
“Hi.” She smiled. I’m Sydney.” Weiss could help but smile back as he shook her hand.
“I’m Eric, but you can call me Weiss. Everyone does.” He opened the door a little wider to let her get in to the living room.
“Where’s Michael?” She said scanning the living room.
“Our host is actually flipping burgers in the backyard. Go ahead, I’m sure he’s going to be relieve now that you’re here.” He said with a big grin on his face.
She made her way to the backyard and stared at him for a few seconds. He was wearing a silly kiss the cook apron and flipping burgers while taking a few sips of his beer. He sensed that someone was watching and turned his head to see Sydney smiling at him. He put down his beer on the table near by as she close the gap between them.
“What in God’s name are you wearing?” She said touching his apron.
“You like?” he smiled as he placed an arm around her waist.
“Maybe.” She leaned in and kissed him on the lips
“You’re not going to tell me, I need a makeover when I barbeque, now are you?”
“Nope. I think it kind of sexy actually.” She said touching the cleft on his chin
“Really? What the apron or the fact that I’m cooking? He smirked.
“Both.” She laughed. I’ve been thinking…” She said as she took a seat on the swing and pull him along with her.
“About what?”
“About us wanting to wait before we sleep together.” she turned her body to face him.
“Sydney, I told you, I don’t mind waiting…He started saying as she placed a finger on his lips to shut him up.
“I don’t want us to wait.” she blurred out as he looked at her with a funny look on his face.
“I don’t think now is a good time” he smirked, “the house will be filled with guests arriving any minutes now.”
She slapped him on the arm, “I was not talking like right this second, but I thought that after everyone has gone home, we could have a little party of our own.”
“You mean?” He grinned as she shook her head in agreement.
“If you up for it?” she said playing with the collar of his t-shirt.
“I’ll make sure they leave early.” he laughed as he leaned in to kiss her.
At that same moment, they heard Will calling out Vaughn’s name.” Hey Mike, have any tequila? I can make margaritas without the most important ingredient.”
They broke the kiss and laughed as they stared into each other’s eyes. “ I’m coming, hold on. I don’t want you to break my blender, like you did last time.” Vaughn got up and grabbed Sydney’s hand as they walked into the house.
“Hey, I told you I was sorry about that. Beside you should be glad I broke it, I got you a new one, didn’t I? And if I may say so myself, it’s way better than the old one you used to have.” he smiled and then turned his attention to Sydney.
“I’m Will.”
“Sydney.”
“Want a margarita, there my specialty? Will asked as he started to mix things in the blender.”
“Sure.” She said glancing at Vaughn leaning against the kitchen counter.
“Where’s Nadia?” Weiss asked.
“She’s outside, talking to the neighbor about her incredible garden. I swear this girl has more hobbies than I dare to count.” Will just rolled his eyes as everyone laughed.
“Did she make her famous chocolate cake?” Weiss asked rubbing his hands together enthusiastically.
“Don’t worry man, I think she made it especially for you. She knows you can resist her famous cake. In fact, why don’t you go tell her yourself.”
“Don’t mind if I do.” Weiss said as he made his way to the front porch.
“So Sydney, what’s it like to work with our Mike here? Will said handing her a glass of margarita.
“Well,“ She smiled, “Technically we haven’t started yet. I still have to convince him to start that project with me.” She said as Vaughn smiled at her.
“You’re a smart girl Sydney, I’m sure you’ll find a way to convince Mike here to do what you ask of him.”
“Will, you making me sound like a puppy in need of obedience school.” Vaughn said as Will and Sydney laughed as they looked at each other.
“I must say Mike, I can already see a change in you and if Sydney is the one responsible for it, then you must do whatever she says.” Will winked at Sydney as Vaughn just stood there and rolled his eyes at them.
“Okay smart ass, stop embarrassing me if front of Sydney.” Vaughn said pushing Will to the backyard. “Why don’t you make yourself useful and go check on the burgers, okay?” Vaughn said as he took off the apron from around his head and handed it to Will.
“Fine, I get the hint. I know when I’m not wanted.” Will said taking the apron and making his way outside.
Once they were alone, Vaughn placed his arms around Sydney’s waist and pulled her closer to him. “I’m sorry.”
“For what?”
“For my friend Will. He has a way to say things without thinking them through.”
“I like him.” She smiled
“He likes you, I can tell. He never opens up that much so fast.” Vaughn laughed.
“Tonight should be interesting.” she said leaning up to kiss his jaw.
“Yeah, it’s only the beginning.”
