Some??? I would say a lot ...  :angelic:

Anyway ... who quit watching when Will "died"???
who quit when MV was married, after Syd's 2 years missing???
who quit when ABC decided to turn down the story to attract more viewers???
who quit watching when in S3 Irina was not there???
so, why are the fans quitting now because of one loved character leaving, I don't know ... but I am surely not gonna quit watching ... this brings more twists to Alias then ever ...

Hey I was gonna ask that! But uh, I remembered...
Fans don't have to justify their reasons to other fans. Tread carefully.

Ok that's not treading carefully, but I'm done being a smart alec for the day. :angelic:

-I didn't quit when Will "died" because it's Alias, it's the espionage world. Of course people are gonna die. Danny died, Noah died, Francie, Emily, Diane... the one thing that Alias has lacked lately, is people dying, which I kinda missed.
-I didn't quit when Vaughn was married because that is just one cool twist, it had potential, but the way they played it out was kind of sad.
-I didn't quit when Irina was missing because as awesome Irina was, there's more to the show.
-When ABC turned down the story, I kept watching because I read ABC would bring back story.
Overall, I keep watching to see what happens. I like all the chaos. Ahaha.

And the thing about the fatherless child, hey things could be worse, the child could die.

Actually that is the only thing that is giving me the tiniest bit of hope. The fact that they were both paparazzid yesterday. Of course that's not to say that they weren't shooting earlier in the morning or later in the day.

The pictures of Mr. Victor Garber, which are included in the "Razzi" picture collection, were posted at SD-1.net in both the recent "Victor Garber Appreciation Thread" and the "Garberholics Thread"; and were mentioned as having been taken on Sunday, August 14. So, the interpretation that Mr. Victor Garber could not have been working on the Alias set on Wednesday, August 17th, can not be justified on the basis of the photos of Mr. Garber eating lunch at a restaurant on Sunday August 14th . . .

I'm angry too because I don't understand why they give up the possibility of exploring this dark side of Vaughn. The "double life" plotline and its repercussions would have been exciting for me to watch. And now they'll explain it to us in what? …2 or 3 episodes?

Unless they're bluffing…

Unfortunately, they are not bluffing. Vaughn is off the show as is Michael Vartan.

Thanks Jinnie for confirming what I had said, but just to let everyone know, this was not a random email, started out that way, but proceeded to a series of phone calls that culminated in be being allowed to release this information.

Believe me, it killed me to do this, and this information has killed the show for me.

It is all so very sad. I, for one, am glad that you were allowed to release the information. I am so angry at the way Michael Vartan has been treated. From my perspective there is no valid reason for firing him.

Thanks for answering, tooboo.
But then why didn't they release the information officially is beyond me. It's unhealthy and dishonest.

Add underhanded too.

I'm sorry but I can't, I don't and won't believe this! I hope it isn't true just for the sake of my television and it's glass screen

Personally. I have no interest in watching "Alias' without Vartan.

The Syd/Vaughn dynamic made this show and kept me watching even after the jump the shark moment in Season 3 when it was "revealed" where Sydney had been for the last two years. That convuluted and hard to swallow bs really killed my buzz.

I can't help but feel JG is forcing Vartan out. He would not leave of his own accord. He was really pumped about season 5 as recently as June. I have recently grown to dislike her and it makes me sad.

I think Vartan is a class act and has never had an unkind word to say about JG. I really feel that she has changed over the last few years into an egomaniac.

Frankly, Vartan deserves better and I wish him the best.

I will not support Alias Season 5 with my viewership or my wallet (as in not buying the Season 4 or 5 DVDS)

The last laugh will be Michael Vartan's as I predict he will get another show that will be a hit.

Best of luck to Michael.

It's obviously a desperate move seeing as Alias has been going down hill since season 2.

I so agree with you...

Alias is dying slowly since the beginning of the third season and I've been a bit disapointed by season 4 eather except for a few epi.

I started to watch Alias from episode 1 and decided to continue to watch it as soon as I saw MV's pretty face and the opportunity of a S/V relationship.

This is what made me stick to it for S3 and 4...even though the S/V chemistry has died with the JG/MV romance..

So, this is very sad and upsetting news and, as far as I am concerned, NO Vaughn/Vartan, NO Alias....

I think it was Kristen over at E who posted something about Vaughn/Vartan leaving the show because there was nothing left to do with the character (or something like that). If that is true, it is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. These writers are supposed to be creative people....I mean they find something for Marshall to babble about every week (no offense to the Marshall fans) and they can't write a decent story for Vaughn....especially with the "double agent" story coming up. Give me a break.

For me, Alias ended at the end of Season 4 with Syd & Vaughn driving to Santa Barbara.

Maybe I'm living in a dreamworld but I hope they bring back Vaughn the end. It doesn't seem like we will see Syd & Vaughn together at all since he's abducted and then there's the funeral. Again. what a way for TPTB to treat the fans.

Oh this is just the worst day ever! I got a very stressful day at uni today, and I was hoping to get some good news here, but no... life is just too cruel!

This. Is. So. Devastating!

But I entertain myself with the phrase 'don't believe everything you hear', and I chose to believe that Vaughn/Vartan won't die. I'm not saying that the information Jodi gave us isn't valid (thanks Jodi for the information btw). I just chose not to believe it until I watch the episode. It helps me get through this crazy thing.

I'm going to be really devastated if Vartan leaves, where else I'm gonna watch him on daily basis? And it's just too cruel for Sydney. It's just not fair for her, she's lost so many people she loves the past 6 years. She deserves to have a happy life for once. I know it's Alias, and romance isn't the main thing in this show, but it matters to me. Seeing Syd and Vaughn's relationship grows from friendship to lovers is very exciting, it's just nice to see that though Syd's a super spy, who jumps on one plane to another, she still has this normal complicated love life like everybody else does.

I would probably still watch Alias if Vartan left, but it wouldn't be the same anymore. Vartan is half the reason I watch Alias. I'm sure most of us watch something because of the actors. I didn't quit watching Alias when Will and Irina gone because simply they're not my favorites. I watched season3 cause Vartan still there, though I hate Lauren with every fibre in my body, but Vartan still there. But with Vartan gone, I might have to re-think about it. In my opinion TV shows become sucks because of two things: it's been running too long! 5, 6 seasons is the ideal number, longer than that it just becomes ridiculous (some survives of course, but it's more unlikely). Then they changed their characters, that's the ultimate one, it's not going to be the same anymore. And I can see it's happening in season 5 of Alias, they add so many new characters there, last time I counted, it's three! It's not a good sign, so unless they have a very good story plot, without Vartan I'd just stop watching it.

In the mean time I'll just wait and see. Sorry if I'm bragging here, but I had a very long and stressful day!

I don't understand why some of the Vartan fans would just quit the show all together though.  Have you guys only been watching Alias this whole time, only for him?  Nothing else matters?
[post="1460666"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

I'm a lurker that usually doesn't post, but I would like to explain things at least from my perspective. Hey, I'm not even really a Vartan fan....

It's not just that Vartan is leaving the show, it's the context.

We may never know the total truth, and I would like to know what really happened before I rush to judgement, but doggone it, it really does appear that he was forced out against his will, and that it was personal.

It sure didn't make any business sense to do it.

Alias is moving to a new night, without the lead-in of Lost, and it doesn't make much sense to ditch a prominent actor in the series who had such an enthuiastic fan base.

In addition, there was a major storyline set-up in the last few seconds of the last season, and now the writers will juggle (just as they did with Lena out of the picture) a storyline featuring the character without the actor. It's awkward, to say the least.

I would be just as frustrated if Ron or Victor had been ditched in these sort of circumstances!

This whole thing reeks (prominent actor leaves the series, pregnancy plot with missing SO, new featured characters brought in late in the game) of X-Files with one significant difference...DD left of his own free will! But TPTB were still stupid enough to think that inserting new actors would be successful.

It's really the final nail in the coffin for me. So much...junk...has happened associated with Alias up till this point. I was one of the first people I knew to discover the show (the pilot) and I wasn't even watching regularly last season. I was so disappointed to miss the season-ender wtih Lena, but with this news, I'm just glad I didn't get re-invested in the series.

Ironically, I have a buddy on another forum that has mocked Vartan/Vaughan all through the broadcast of this searies. And even he thinks this turn of events is stupid and makes no sense!

The writers are continuing with Vaughn's storyline, just without Vartan. The character did not run its course. That was a cop-out response as to why Vartan was being fired.

Edited to add: LJ1958, I totally agree with ALL of your points. No matter how they spin this, I will not view his firing as anything but personal!

First off, apologies to Jodi for my doubts.

Now I am understanding this correctly, it sounds like ABC decided to get rid of Vartan and this wasn't a decision made by the Alias producers and writers (please correct me if I'm wrong). ABC has a history of dumb moves when it comes to Alias. From scheduling, to advirtising, to interfering with storylines (see the firing of Merrin Dungey and Bradley Cooper) it seems that ABC has never really understood the show or it's audience. So I find it easy to believe that ABC honestly thinks that getting rid of Vaughn could be a ratings booster. Vaughn's death will probably be what all the critics will be talking about the next day. So it's great for press for a few weeks. But surprise, surprise ABC doesn't think of longterm effects. A part of me is wondering if ABC if hoping to spinoff Alias after S5. Kinda like what happened to The Practice. They got rid of a good portion of the cast and hired newbies. Hello Boston Legal! Now I like Boston Legal but it does mock what The Practice stood for. I really don't want that for Alias (if in fact they are planning on doing this).

I think the storyline can work (and I am Vaughn/Vartan fan) but they are going to have to focus on Sydney and the SpyFam dynamics. But if they are indeed trying to spinoff the series then well let's just hope that the newbie characters are at least interesting.

As far as MV is concerned yes it does suck that he is being let go. But try to look on the bright side. This very well could be the best thing that has ever happened to MV career wise. Look at Bradley Cooper. He was offed but made the best of it. He went after very unWill like roles and now look at him. He is in on the biggest hits of the summer and has his own show.

I think I would be somewhat less angry if it were an ABC decision, because it would mean JJ hasn't gone completely off the deep end. I like your point about Bradley Cooper going off and doing well, which is fantastic for him, but I still think the show suffered a lot with his loss. I can't imagine what it's going to be like, if only because I can't get the image of Poor Lonely Sydney with her Squalling Fatherless Baby and all the ensuing angst.

But what do I do with my anger? Channel it into Photoshop, of course! Snarky spoiler art here!

It'll be interesting if they will ever make an official announcement. And I am curious what their spin will be, firing a popular actor on the show.
