Season 5 Important News regarding Michael Vartan/Vaughn

Vaughn dead? Bollocks!

It's Grunberg who's leaving, not Vartan. With Nadia pretty much gone, Weiss has no part anymore. Vaughn's part just got interesting. Are the writers REALLY gonna pull that twist on us, setting up a ton of new storylines for MV, and then just kill him off? No, don't be silly.

I can't believe you lot actually believe this felgercarb.

Maybe he "dies" everyone want us to think that he is gone! And he is gone for like 4 episodes and shows up again ? Maybe they have to fake is death, because someone is after him. How many times havn't Alias characters come to live again ?

This has been my favorite angle all along! I don't know how likely it is, but in this case it would make sense to kill him off (and perhaps Syd could know all along) to save his life - in effect- and then bring him back later. The current buzz regarding his departure could go on without the network commenting because then it would spoil the surprise. This is what I want to believe... but I don't know how likely it is. Given Vartan's popularity, and also the personal buzz, it is probably the one thing they could do to get a lot of attention. How's that for spin?

I started enjoying her. It was a great pair with Sark, and Melissa is just one of those actors that I think plays a better bad guy than good guy

Yeah, some actors is just awesome like bad guys, you can't see them like a good guy.

Take care

Actually I believe that JG and MV broke up in June of 2004 and she was with Ben by Aug 2004.  JG and MV started dating around May of 2003 and it was Sept of 2003 that Ben was supposed to marry JLo.  I remember because that's the year I got married.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. I guess I'm not as up on my celebrity gossip as I thought I was

Regardless, I find it hard to place all trust in people who make up propaganda for a living. I am just going to have faith (perhaps blindly) that the writers know what they're doing, and won't leave us all hating the show we've grown to love.

I have been an avid fan since the very first episode season 1. I collect the trading cards, action figures, magazines and articles about Alias. I think it is extremly disrespectful to the fans of the show to get rid of Vaughn! I am taping the shows and refuse to watch them til I know if he is dead or not. It will completely crush me and ruin the show for me if he does.

Yes I was a fan of Michael Vartan before he was on Alias. I tuned in to Alias not because of him at first, but because the commercials made it look like an action packed kick ass show. But then low and behold there was this chemistry between Vaughn & Syd. That's what kept me glued, not the missions!!!! Yeah action packed shows are good. But you have to be able to be emotionally attached to the characters in order to care weither or not the missions are successful!

They have built this relationship up since season 1! We have been longing for them to be together. If he leaves it will break this show! Look at season 3 he was married to Lauren..and the ratings sucked! A major majority of the fans want them togther not apart. So we finally get them engaged and now they kill him off! Thats like saying screw you to us fans that have been watching and investing our time to the show. It's just plain felgercarb!

If this were to be the last season of Alias, I would be sad to see it go. But if it were to end with Syd/Vaughn wedding and retirement from the agency. It would be fine by me.

All I have to say is if JJ (who I firmly believe is a creative genious) is letting this happen, he better put Vartan on the other side of the Island on LOST! I could totally deal with a half dressed Matthew Fox and Michael Vartan running around on the island!!!!

On the upside..with all this support for Michael, I hope casting agencies and the powers that be realize how much he is loved and put his fine ass in some more movies!!!

I swear... I will do ANYTHING if someone just confirms this or denies it officially...

It's driving me nuts

Don't leave, Vaughnie! :sadangel:

I'm one of the few who wants Vaughn to be dead? Its time to shake things up. Plus storyline wise Sydney looking to find out her baby's fathers killer is the only reasonable way to go with the Garner being a pregnant spy. I mean her being an active spy, while she is pregnant needs to be justified. Now that they have backtracked on her going after Sloane, there is no motivation for her to be a spy, unless Vaughn is killed. Now we have to find out the killed, and sets up this seasons arch, which very well maybe the final season.

My theory for the likely final season is
Sloane ultimately is responsible for Vaughn'd death. Sloane is apparently in love with Syd or has an infaturation with her at the very least. Sydney kills Sloane .
Jack and Irina reunite . Marshall dies heroically. Dixon stays with The Cia.

Sydnel leaves the Cia after the death of Sloane, and desires a normal life to raise her baby. She does marry someone in the finale, none other than Will, but more importantly the final scene will be between Syd and Jack, and they embrace, and tell each other they love each other.

I mean honetly I do think the true love story of Alias isn't a romantic one anyway. I think is the Jack/Sydney story that is the true focus rather than Sydnel/Vaughn/Will or any other replaceable charcter.

Yes, I think you are pretty lonely about wanting V to die.
And I think that your theory is awful!
But somehow I like it, but not the part about Vaughn and Marshall dying.

According to one magazine:

Alias star Michael Vartan won't be killed off in the series, as many expected. Sources say Vartan, 36 — whose character was in a fiery crash in last season's finale — was rumored to be written out of the series, perhaps because his presence made ex Jennifer Garner, 33, uneasy. But Vartan has signed on for next season and he may get his own spin-off. Also, sources say Jen's character will be pregnant by Vartan's character — an awkward situation, considering the actors dated in 2003!

That sounds really familiar. What magazine is that from?

I am beginning to think that this rumor of MV leaving is only just that - a rumor! It makes some fantastic publicity!
And right from the beginning of this rumor, my thought has been that they have to "kill" him off and fake his death in order to save his life from whoever is looking for him. SO when the producer said that this rumor has been very exaggerated, that just confirmed my suspicions.
I am so excited for season 5, I can hardly stand it! Only two weeks and two days to go, yea!
And yes, I agree that JJ is a creative GENIUS! I own the first three seasons on dvd and everytime I watch them, I am still amazed at all the stuff they've come up with. Sure I know the show isn't perfect, but it's BRILLIANT!
Anyhow, it would be a mistake for them to completely kill off Vaughn and I don't think they'll do it like that. Whatever the story turns out to be, it will be brilliant as nearly everything else has been (like making Lauren turn bad - excellent!)

I'm aware of what has been confirmed and how. But, some one on IMDB is posting that he isn't going anywhere... and is willing to bet money on it

That really doesn't mean anything since we don't know where the information is coming from. Even if this is true you can never really trust the people that say they are on the inside. Some people may really work on set and everything, but there's alot of people that don't and say they do. How do they get the information then? They make it up or they copy what another source has already said.

wow what an emotional roller coaster ride this has turned out to be! up and down we go! "He’s off", "No he’s on", "No way he’s off!", "Ya right he’s on!"

Doses anyone have any aspirin?

I have to agree. If this whole thing turns out to be one big rumor then
they may have just pulled off the biggest publicity stunt ever.
What still bothers me about the whole thing, other then the possibility of MV
leaving, is the fact that all of this has been thrown out there but nobody
has yet to confirm it (officially anyway). There was all this hype and then
all the sudden everyone stopped talking about it and said they couldn't comment.
Well if this was true, it's already out there so why not just confirm it and move on. Whats the harm in confirming if everyone is already talking about it.
The whole thing still seems very fishy to me.

Yeah, I agree- the whole thing is really fishy. My feelings on the matter waiver daily. At this point I don't think it is possible that it could be a publicity stunt because they aren't promoting Alias at all right now and if it was intended to increase viewership they would be promoting his possible demise to get people to tune in. As of late it feels much more like ABC's dirty little secret. I think it is weird that they haven't commented, yet, but that could be some kind of damage/spin control or just shame. I would be embarassed too if I was them. Secondly, I think they reworked the plan for the season - writing him out. It is really the oldest trick in the book. Michael Vartan, Grunberg, and others... are leaving or being axed, either way, it looks like the beginning of the end as far as the "old" characters go. Meanwhile the network tells us to just wait and see what happens... Let's call it what it really is, bait and switch. New characters are being brought in to replace the old, while TPTB sit back and wait to see if we will continue to watch. That hardly makes it the fifth season of the show we all love... It is more like the beginning of "Alias: Next Generation" - It is pretty dishonest of them not to just fess up to their actions IMO. But anyway, that is just my theory.
