Season 5 From the Boston Herald

Jinnie

Chronic Lurker
Jen's on-screen beau may go out with a bang

Don't breathe a word of this. Because nobody's supposed to know. But Michael Vartan fans might want to make sure they tune into the season premiere of ''Alias.'' Because according to our on-set spies, it will be the final farewell appearance of agent Michael Vaughn.
''If you want to see Michael, you shouldn't miss the first show,'' said our spy.
According to the super-secret script, Vartan's character is killed off in dramatic fashion in the season premiere – and conspiracy theorists are suggesting it's because Vartan and leading lady Jennifer Garner have been at odds since she dumped him for Ben Affleck!
But at least Vartan gets to go out with a bang.
''In the show, Michael is investigating some case and is set up,'' said our spy. ''He gets shot numerous times but does not die on the scene. He makes it to the hospital where he eventually dies.''
Vartan's onscreen paramour, Sydney Bristow, aka Garner, is with him when he flat-lines and has to identify his body. As promised, the writers work Garner's real-life pregnancy into the plot of the show, leaving Bristow pregnant with Vaughn's child. For the rest of the season she is on a mission to find out who killed her baby's father.
In real life, of course, Garner is due to give birth to Ben's baby in the fall and for the better part of a year there have been rumors of trouble on the ''Alias'' set. Garner dated Vartan before she hooked up with her hub. In fact, she dumped Vartan for Affleck.
Reportedly this has led to hard feelings between the co-stars. But our spies say Vartan is ''over it.''
''He wishes them nothing but the best.''
A rep for ABC has declined to discuss the upcoming season's plot developments. So, as always, do stay tuned.

Has the Boston Herald gone the way of the New York Post in terms of running tabloid trash?

Because that's exactly what it is.

One thing I've learned about the NY Post and the Boston Herald, their news is not always tabloid trash. Seems like the Boston Herald was the first to report the engagement of the Afflecks at Garner's BD party. And many, many items reported in the Post have turned out to be quite factual.

Okay then, but there's no way those pictures of a very pregnant Jen in the other thread are from the premiere. And she's with him in the pictures.

In post production, it's always possible to make her look less pregnant. Based on her clothes, that may be what they'll do. Or the camera is on a tight shot, you won't actually see below her waist.

I know that, but firstly I don't think they will go to that much effort - especially for a television show. And I don't think they are going to be filming them walking down the street in a tight shot. And they wouldn't have her in those clothes if they were planning to cover up the pragnancy.

And, apart from anything else, all the spoilers we have read so far AND the photos we have seen contradict this report. If he dies, I have serious doubts it is in the first episode.

The pics you have seen with her looking very pregnant are paparazzi photos taken while they were filming....not official set or scene photos. And yes, more than likely, as SG stated above, they will use a tight shot (above the waist). There's no effort involved in doing tight shots for TV...it's just camera work.

I know that.

But I think it is highly unlikely that what looks like them rushing out of a building and down a street will be filmed that way. I understand what 'tight shot' means. ;)

Adding up all of clues from the spoilers we have had, it just doesn't seem possible. Vaughn leaving in episode one doesn't seem to fit in with everything else we've heard.

That's all I'm trying to say.

It may be true, but then again, it may not.

gee, that sounds like complete bollocks!

Yeah, that sounds really formal and official....<_<

No matter how stupid we feel the decision is, it is happening. (n)

We also need to remember that Touchstone did confirm that a major character would be leaving early in the season. (Confirmation at MVCampaign.com)

You're right Natalia, it doesn't fit. What was planned early on changed. If you read what Jodi has confirmed regarding Vartan's departure, he never intended to leave the series early. Also, the comment from Jesse Alexander (Executive Producer) in the Alias Magazine confirm Vartan/Vaughn was to be a part of the entire season. Vaughn's story (which will now be told in his absence) is a major part of S5. The writers have been forced to revamp.

So now i guess their also making Michael Vartan lie to his fans on national television also? I think this article is felgercarb.

Other reports said his last day was on the 17th. Which i still don't believe. But why would they need him that long if he's gone in the first episode? Even for a funeral scene, that wouldn't take weeks to film.

Michael did not lie. He was asked, "As of now, it is just a rumor?" He answer, "Yes, indeed." Until it plays out, or TPTB confirm, it will be a rumor.

Maybe vaughn will "die" like all the other characters "die" and he'll be back in a few episodes?

If he does die... Then i'll probably need a straight jacket and padded room.

You can be assured that Michael has been told by TPTB what he can or cannot say. He hasn't lied about anything...he merely stated it was a rumor when asked if it was. And as Jinnie explained it over at SD-1, they will probably use the shooting as the cliffhanger in the premiere and then his death in the second episode and perhaps the funeral in the third or possibly the second. Since it takes 8 days to film each episode and he left on the 17th, the timing is correct.

I certainly would not dismiss the Herald article. It has been rumored that many on the Alias set are not happy with his departure and it would not be at all surprising if someone from the set leaked the info to the Boston Herald.

I think one thing is clear, that MV will not survive the entire season 5 of Alias. Whether Vaughn will be guillotined or shot at sunrise doesn't matter to me. The bottom line is, Vaughn is going to die, and that SUCKS! Big time!
