Two Young Eyes

Chapter 1

Two young eyes, staring out at the world, two young eyes full of grief and mourning. Two young eyes, looking--waiting for one another.

The heads and bodies to which these eyes belong to are aching with grief for their losses. Though these two young children do not fully realize it yet, they are out there on a quest. One that will take them half their lives to complete. They are out to find their own somebody, their guardian angel, secret friend, and soul mate. They are empty without one another. But just as fate has them looking out over the ocean at each other, one on the west side, one on the east, fate has them sent on this journey to find each other.

“Mommy! Moooommmyyyyyyy!!!!”
Where the heack is she? It is already TEN IN THE MORNING! She’s usually awake at six! And Daddy is not home either, he’s on a business trip, as he is almost every day. Does he live here anymore? Humph.
“MOMMY??!”
How can she just leave me here alone? She couldn’t, no, wouldn’t, have done that!!! Well, would she?
No, no, she wouldn’t.
Well, I’m gonna go watch TV for a bit.

*1 hour later*

Gahhhh! I’m so hungry! And she still isn’t home yet! Hmm, well, Mommy always makes me spaghettis and and cheesies for breakfast! I’ll make some too! Juuuuuuuust like mommy does! Then she’ll be all surprised and happy when she gets home and maybe she’ll get me that new color my hair Barbie doll! MAYBE she’ll let me color my hair too! I’d make it pink. Pink is my favorite color! NOOW, back to the spaghettis!
“SPAGHETTIES! SPAGHETTIES ! Where are you? Oooh, here you are. I’m gonna eat you right up, cause I am VERY VERY hungry. And you are food. Yes you are!”
Ok. So, now I .. umm. Somehow need to make spaghettis and cheesies. I have the spagghetties. The cheesies are in the fridge. But, now what!?!?
Oooh, I remember. She took them out of the bag…done, oops they fell on the floor. OH NO! Mommy will have to clean the kitchen! Again. Well, not if I pick em up!!!
So, now she would always take out a pot thing, here I found one. And she would put watter in it. But, I don’t like water. Well, I don’t want any right NOW at least! Well, oh! I just remembered! Silly me! She bought some apple juice yesterday! MY FAVORITE! So I’ll just put some apple juice in it instead. Yup. OK.
Now what?
Oh yes. The stove. How do I turn that stove heat thingie which I’m not supposed to touch on??? Huh!?!? Oh right. I need to spin those weird spinny thingies! Therreeeee we go.
Then she would put the pot with spaghettis and water on it and wait here four ten minutes and then tell me stories.
So that’s what I AM going to do.
OK, I’m waiting. But OH NO! She can’t tell me stories! SHE is not here! I’m gonna have to talk to her about this one!
“Oh well, I can just read MYSELF a story! Ha! But, I need to read it to someone else as well. SOOO, I’ll make myself an invisible friend! Yup! That’s right!”

“So, Mr. Invisible Friend, AND me, there once was a princess and her name was …what was it again” Oooh, yeah, Sydney, and there was this beautiful prince named…uhh. What should his name be? You, Mr. Invisible Friend will be the Prince, and your name will be, Michael! That’s right! Michael…ummm well, Mommy says I have a last name. And that it’s Bristow. Hee hee. It sounds so silly! So your last name will be … Vuahgn. Ok! But I’ll call you just Vaughn cause Vaughn is prettifuler than Michael and … well, Vaughn just does NOT sound like a first name to me! I’m sorry, it doesn’t. So…now on with the story………………………..”

*Another hour later*

I guess ten minutes is up!
“SPAGHETTIES IS READY VAUGHNIE!!!!!”
Ok, I turn off the stove, by doing the obvious, spinning those spinny things again! DUH! Now I need a plate, oh barnacles! I forgot! Mommy puts salt on the spaghettis, along with cheesies. Uhhh, oh yeah! But, I don’t want salt…I want sweet things. Soooo, I’ll put sugar on instead!
There we go.
Spaggheties are on a plate, and there are three on the table. One for mommy, one for daddy, and one for me! And Vaughnie can have some of mine cause he’s not to hungry.

“Sydney? Honey? Are you here?”
“Daddy! I have a surprise for you! Mommy wasn’t home and Vaughnie and I got hungrey so I made pasta. Here, I made some for you and mommy too!”
Daddy just gives me the funniest look, not that he shows much on his face, silly him. And now he’s in the kitchen trying some. I’m so excited! Maybe I’ll become the family cook now! And I’ll make crabby patties like sponge bob!
“DO YOU LIKE IT DO YOU LIKE IT!?!?!” I scream while bouncing up and down on my toes. “VAUGHNIE LIKES IT!!!”
“Vaughnie?”
“He’s my invisible friend.” I nod and pat him on my friend. How could daddy not see that! Mommy can always tell what I’m talking about.
“Daddy?”
“Yes?”
“Where’s Mommy? She needs to try my spaggheties!!!”
“Mommy? Um. Mommy, well. Uh. She—Sydney, come here. Mommy, she’s … she’s gone.”

~France~

“Hey! MOM! Catch this!!!!” I throw the ball up in the air and straight at her! Like, in perfect positioning! BUT SHE CAN’T CATCH THE STUPID THING JEEEEEZ!
“Where’s DAD? HE can catch the balls!”
“He’s … he’s out honey…”
I sigh. Dad was out. AGAIN. When will he come back home? He has been out already for a week! Daaaad! I need to practice ball. Gahh!
Oh well. Mommy has been acting awful weird since daddy left the house. Her voice has been squeaky and her eyes are all big and red. Maybe she has big red eyes squeaky disease?
She’s had it all week! It must be a really bad case!! Poor her! WAIIIT, I can make her soup! She always makes soup for me when I am sick! So I will do that for her. That’s right.
But, how do I make soup?
“HOW DO I MAKE SOUP!?!? ARG!” Well, maybe I can get an invisible friend. Invisible friends are ALWAYS helpful.
Huh, my friend will be a she, cause, my mommy is a she. At least, that’s what she tells me. And I’m a he, and my daddy is a he.
So. “Invisible friend? What should I name you? OOOOH. My mom’s best friends name is Cindy, but … I don’t like that. I KNOW! SYDNEY! And last name? uhh uhh uhh. I don’t like bristles , like .. those things on bushes. But mommy does! So your last name will be … bristlo. Bristlew. Bristo…BRISTOW! Thaaaats it! OK. Now for the soup”
I’ll put the tea pot on the stove thing. Turn it.
I got the soup. It’s shrimp soup cause that’s the only one here right now!
Ok. Soooo…shrimp soup and tea. Now what?
“Sydddneyyy? NOW WHAT?”
Blah. Fine, Oooh. Ok. I’ll do that. I’ll wait until the tea pot starts singing. And then I’ll put a bunch of tea bags in it. And … and then I’ll put it in the soup thing!!!

*30 Minutes Later*

OOOOKKKAYYY! All done now!
“Let’s go out and tell mommy Sydney!”
So, with the soup in hand I walk outside
“Mommy! I put the soup here for ya! I made it my self. With Sydney. She’s my new invisible friend. I saw you have big red eyes squeaky sickyness so I made you soup! Do ya like it?”
She nods her head. “YAYYYY! YOU LIKE IT! YAYYYYY!”
“mommy? Umm….I know I shouldn’t be asking. But, Daddy’s been gone for an awful long time! Where’d he go? And whens he comin back! I miss him…”
“Honey…Michael. Oh Michael. I – I – He- Daddy isn’t coming back.”
