Once again...Another great fic of your that I didn't get a PM too! I love this one! Great Job! I wonder why Jack is calling? I can't wait for Syd and Vaughn to start dating. And then see Jack and William's reaction to the news. I wonder how they are gonna discover that they knew each other as kids, why they can't remember, and what their gonna do about it!

Chapter 8
Just a Talk

“Hi, can you put me through to Jack Bristow please?” Sydney dialed her father’s office number.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Bristow has asked to be undisturbed right now” the secretary told her in a monotone voice.

“Oh…okay” Sydney sighed, “Uh…could you maybe ask him if he’d take a call from his daughter?”

“I don’t think he would appreciate that Miss” the secretary replied dully.

“Well how about you just do it?!” Sydney snapped.

“Excuse me?!” the secretary replied.

“I’m sorry but my father called me and asked me to call him back so will you please just put me through to him!?” Sydney huffed.

“One minute!” the secretary snapped as she put Sydney on hold and transferred her through to Jack’s office.

“Bristow” Jack answered gruffly.

“Hi Daddy, it’s Sydney” Sydney whispered nervously.

“Sydney, darling, hi” Jack smiled.

“I just got home and thought I’d call you back…if you’re busy, I can call back later” Sydney told him quickly.

“No, I’m not busy” Jack told her, “It’s good to hear from you”

“Yeah, you too…I was really surprised when Nadia said you called” Sydney admitted.

“Yes…well…wait…who’s Nadia?” Jack asked her.

“Oh, she’s one of the other nurses, she’s the one who gave me you’re message” Sydney laughed.

“Alright” Jack nodded, “So how have you been?”

“I’ve been busy” Sydney told him, “Lot’s of work to do”

“You had better not be working too hard” Jack laughed.

“I’m not, we just had an influx of patients over the past few weeks” Sydney explained.

“Oh, why’s that?” Jack asked.

“We had a group from Iraq come in” Sydney told him.

“Oh” Jack nodded, “Well…they are serving their country, treat them right”

“Daddy!” Sydney laughed, “I treat all of them properly”

“That’s my girl” Jack smiled, “So…how are you doing?”

“I’m doing okay” Sydney exhaled.

“It’s been nearly 4 years now, hasn’t it?” Jack sighed.

“Yeah” Sydney nodded, “And I still miss him like crazy”

“No one expects you to just forget about him Sydney” Jack told her.

“I know I just…I guess I’m afraid that if I try to move on…I will forget” Sydney admitted.

“Well, Sydney, if I know Julian, which I like to say I did” Jack began, “He wanted nothing more than to see you smile and laugh and be happy, and if it’s true what they say, and he’s watching down on you. I know that he will want to see you smiling and laughing like you did when he was here with you. Even if it is with someone else”

“Thanks Daddy” Sydney smiled.

“It’s just the truth Sydney” Jack told her.

“Have you talked to mom lately?” Sydney asked him.

“Syd” Jack shook his head.

“Well you two were getting close…” Sydney smiled slightly.

“You have had this same crazy dream since you were 12 years old” Jack laughed.

“Well come on…” Sydney prodded, “You two get along better than any divorced couple I know”

“I have to go Sydney, I’ll talk to you later” Jack shook his head once more.

“Bye daddy”

“Goodbye Sydney”
