The Applewites

I don't think it's someone we know, since the guy who jumped out of the basement and attacked Betty didn't look like anyone we've seen.

I think it's her husband...but why she has him locked up is anyone's guess. I'm also not convinced that Matthew is her actual son, or the son of the guy in the basement.

I don't know though...the whole things is rather

When we saw the man in the basment it looked like he was crazy or something so maybe there is a reason for why they keep him down there..

Lol! Yeah me to :P But what if he really is crazy, and thats why they have looked him down in the basment ? There is allways a reason why mysterious things happens in Wisteria-Lane :P

Did anyone catch the story about the man in the basment ? did he kill someone, and the Applewhites are protecting him ?

The man in the basement is named Caleb, and yes he did kill someone (I figured this was coming though since it was all over the Housewive's tvs in every scene). Apparently he killed a high school student named Melanie Foster. But the breaking news on TV said that they had arrested someone (other than Caleb, obviously) in connection to her murder.

Betty and Matthew, are protecting him I guess. But Betty sent a letter to the Chicago police department (that's where Melanie was killed) saying that they had the wrong killer in custody. To show that this wasn't a hoax she described the murder weapon in the letter.

Now Matthew saw the letter before she mailed it and was really ticked off, because now they're "in the clear" so to speak since someone else was arrested. Caleb (who I think is Betty's son) is mentally "slow". Betty says that it's not right to have an innocent man in jail, and that they'll go easy on Caleb. Matthew says that they won't care that Caleb is slow and will execute him.

Caleb who was able to get out of the locked room (because Betty left it unlocked by accident) over hears this. Gets visibly upset (ie he tears up) and runs back down to his room.

I've got to say that I feel terrible for Caleb. If he really is mentally disabled then he might not have been able to help his actions. Yet he's being locked up in this basement like some kind of animal. And hearing that he might be executed really upset him.

I also wonder what Betty's intentions are with sending the letter. She wrote it in a way in which her hand writing can't be identified and used gloves to not leave DNA or fingerprints. So is she really planning on giving Caleb up or what?

Plus there is the fact that Matthew touched the letter with his bare hands...meaning that his fingerprints are on it. If the police know what they're doing, they'd run a trace and just might be able to figure out who sent it.

Not sure how all of this is going to play out, but I'm interested in seeing where it's going!

So the Applewhites isn't so bad after all. They are just trying to protect him, which is highly understandable if he is her son.

So far it does seem that way...that they aren't "bad". Just trying to protect a love one.

But as we know, nothing is ever what it seems, so I'm sure there is a lot more we have yet to learn.

I have a feeling that Caleb didnt kill Melanie ... but his brother Matthew did ... and that is what Mother AppleWhite is trying to find out ... ;)

yeah what is up with those too...anway? Does he really like her or just gonna use her? I think she is a little sl*t since Rex died!

Mel

I think Matthew is ONLY trying to use Danielle as to get away from Mom ... Mother AppleWhite don't trust Matthew ... and hopefully Danielle won't fall head over heels for Matthew ... and as far a Danielle being a slut??? I think she just needs someone to love, since mom doesnt have time for her, her father just died, and her brother is away in some camp ... she just needs someone .. and she seems pretty interested in Matthew ... who I must say looks darn cute

my guess is that the man is the father of the girl that Caleb "supposedly" killed ...

I have always admired Michael Ironside, and I am so glad to see him back on TV ... (y)

Oh yeah it can be, but how does he know that Caleb is the one who killed her? Havn't Mother Applewhite looked him inn since the accident?
