Hi there,

now here is a forum i am not often in - which is kind weird cos i read a lot ^_^

anyways, as some of you may or may not know I am a content mod and spend most of my time on AA updating the all alias guide. we have a section on the books of alias which is currently dorment and I thought it would be nice to have reviews of the books from the Alias series. My first call was amazon.com but I thought it would be nice to have members doing book reviews to give it a more personal AA feel.

The novels written so far have been:

1. Recruited
2. A Secret Life
3. Disappeared
4. Sister Spy
5. The Pursuit (Michael Vaughn novel)
6. Close Quarters (Michael Vaughn novel)
7. Father Figure
8. Free Fall
9. Infiltration
10. Vanishing Act
11. Skin Deep
12. Shadowed

Other books we would like to hear about are:

Alias Magazine -- official magainze; bimonthly
Alias Declassified -- official companion book, from Summer 2002
Uncovering Alias -- unofficial companion
Secret Identities -- another unofficial companion

If anyone can help out with reviews or comments on any of the above please post away - it would be a fantastic help to me and you will find your words within the guide itself

In addition - anyone who has played the video game I would love to get a review for it aswell

I can help you out with this one. I've read all of those books, have a subscription to the magazine and have the Alias game. I have nothing but good things to say about all of these things.
I loved the books. I started reading them out of order but that didn't really matter. Then once I had read all that were published I couldn't wait till a new one came out. My favorite was A secrect life. I loved the Pairs setting and the fact that it was Syd's first mission and the romance between Noah and Sydney. I also really liked Father Figure, because it had so much personal drama for Sydney, and she was a new agent and it was really nice to see her deal with her new life. The ones about Vaughn were good but not as good as the ones about Sydney. I liked how they ended sad, but also with a feeling of hope. But overall i just really liked seeing what life was like for Syd whe she first became an agent.
I really like the magazine too. It's a great thing for Alias fans. They have news about the show and stars, interviews with the cast and crew, and letters from other viewers. Its very useful to have to know all the current news in the world of Alias and you can get the cast's and crew's opinon on what's going on in the show. You can also find out behind the sceens things.
I really enjoyed the game. I had the XBOX version and i played it day after day until i had finished it. It was a little difficult at times but when you get past the hard parts its very enjoyable. I though it went along with the show very well too. I would really like to see another one.
Well, i hope this helps. If you need any more reviews let me know.

hi there  thanks for your interest. what I would really love for the alias books would be something like this:

1. A birief review of the plot for each story. (doesn't have to be very long - a few sentences is more than acceptable)
2. Anything that particularly realted the book to the show eg characters, plot, situations.
3. Enjoyment factor - why you liked it or if there were things you disloked.
4. A rating - out of ten perhaps.

any help you can give would be terrific even if you can only do a few books for now

I will use what you said about the magazine aswell:smiley:

I could definitely help with this. I have all the books and magazines and such, just let me know what you need help with.

O.k. I wasn't sure quite what you wanted but now that i do i will have to look over the books again and i get back to you shortly.

I would love to be a part of this as well; the books are what I'm most passionate about. I have all the prequel novels and the APO novels (including the one that came out this month), and all the magazines, and I also own Secret Identities, Uncovering Alias, Alias Declassified and Authorized Personnel Only: The Top-Secret Files (that also came out this month).

I love writing so I think this would be a good idea for me. Hope I can help!

O.K. I hope this helps.

Recurited- This book is about Syd's reuriutment into Sd-6. It starts when she is a fresheman in college, is recruited, and starts her training. This book goes into detail about the breief history we were given in the first episode and intro. I liked seeing Syd as a confused student then having her turn into a confident agent. I give it a 8.

A seceret life-This book is about Syd's first mission for Sd-6 in Pairs with her handler Noah. The mission starts out fine but then turns into a struggle for survival. There is also romance between Syd and Noah. I like this book alot. I loved the Pairs setting and reading about a confused agent Syd as she tries to figure out what to do, and the beginning romance between Noah and Syd. I would give it a 10.

Disappeared-This book is about a mission SD-6 sends Syd in disguise on to go to a meeting with some underground agencies. It takes place on a remote island and Syd fins herself alone with some of the most dangerous people in the world. Then she tries to find a way off the island as people start being killed off and her cover is blown. I liked the setting of this book. It was like a murder mystery novel. I also liked the sudden surprise that her cover was blown. I would give it a 8.

Sister Spy-A Sd-6 agent is killed and they send Sydney to find out who did. Jen, the agent, was a memeber of a sorority,so Sydney, and Francie, join the sorority. The spend the week to a trip to Hawaii and Sydney must find out who killed Jen while still keeping her actions a secret from Francie. I liked this book because we got to see Francie on a mission with Syd though she didn't knowit. I would give it a 7.

The Pursuit- This book is about Vaughn's recruitment into the CIA. He has to deal with the pressure of being a new agent, of dealing with another rude recuitment, and with the threat of a mole. I liked this book because, like Recruited, we got to see what led to his choce to become and agent and how he dealt with the training but in a different way than Syd. I would give it a 7.

Close Quarters- An Italy President is threatened by assasination, and Vaughn is sent to protect his daughter. Vaughn, a new CIA agent, doesn't like this assigment and feels he is babysitting. But through the book he finds that she isn't that bad, and this position would lead him to the killer. I liked seeing how Vaughn dealt with this assigment and her, and also how he learned to like her. I loved the surprise ending but thought it was a sad way to end it. I would give it a 7.

This is half. I'll get back to you later with the last six books. Tell me if this is what you want.

ooh i didn't even knot about the APO books i don' think.........or the new APO book either. Ethan, If you could write a similar thing to BB for the fiction books - giving a desciption and your feelings about the book and a mark out of ten.

and for teh APO fact book tell me what it is and what information it holds - hor example is it just about season 4 or does it go right back to the pilot and work through every season??? rate this one as an alias fan - is it filled with inetersting information or is it pretty dull.

thanks again for the help guys
