Solar Flares coming to get us

I thought this news item on the Daily Mail online site (run different from the hardcopy newspaper) was relevant, yet more David Icke-esque so needed to go in here:

'We missed the spin on the ball': Largest solar flare in five years hits Earth... but 'jolt' predicted to disrupt flights, GPS systems and power grids fails to materialise

Did NASA guys really hand out this image to reporters?

This one looks like dirt on the lens of a microscope:

The video on their website is more illuminating however.

Get ready for interference on your satellite tv's, GPS units and planes falling from the sky for the next two years.

Doom, I say, DOOM!

Has anybody reported any interference? At least the news outlets I follow it has been pretty quiet, more of a novelty news item than a real issue.

This is some funny stuff on the subject. The article should have given the date the flares were due to hit the planet. The article is dated the 8th (Thursday) and states, "The largest solar flare in five years is set to hit the earth Thursday morning" This suggests next Thursday, as otherwise it would have said, "this morning." Right?

Aliens coming to get us?

God only knows what will happen to humankind, we'll just have to wait and see.

And it would be great if Dr Who could help Earth's inhabitants solve all our major problems.

Perhaps one of the alien races out in space will decide to help us humans.
