Secrets From the Grave

Chaper 1: Nightmares

Jack then puts his head on the hard ground he was shot, by Arvin Sloane, Sydney cries, she doesnt want to leave him, but she knows she has to. He then gets up and walks to a door that appeared from nowhere, he holds up a key and opens it. He then disappears into nothingness. Sydney with a curious look on her face gets out of the truck and runs to the closing door. It shuts as she reaches the nob. She flings it open only to see Sloane there with a gun. " You're not suposed to know, it was so well hidden." He says. Then he shoots Sydney in the head. When the gunshot sounds Sydeny wakes up in her room. She gasps. Breathing hard and sweating. She glances toward to Vaughn who is still comfortably sleeping. The baby moniter goes off, little Jack must be having some sleep trouble. Sydney gets up and wlaks into his room. She picks up her son and begins rocking him back and forth in a rocking chair. She begins pondering her own nightmare. Just another way of dealing with her Jack's death. In the morning Sydney is awaken by the smell of eggs. Vaughn must be cooking, she must have dozed off in the rocking chair. She puts Jack back in his crib to go get dressed. "You alright Syd." Vaughn asks as she steps into the kitchen. "Yeah fine" she replies. "Syd I've known you for too long not to know when somethings wrong." he says. "I had a bad dream, about my father and the last time we saw him. He had some sort of key and a door, then Sloane was there and said something about me not knowing and then he... he shot me." Sydney says. "Syd, Sloane is gone, and ths could be some form clossure with your father." Vaughn says placing a helping of scrambled eggs on her plate. "I know it just bothers me is all." she replies. After breakfast Sydney logs on to her laptop. Thank Marshall for this and her CIA ties give her continous clearnace. She pulls up all these files on her fathers past, before she was even born, also she looks up Sloanes SD-6 files. Her father did have an Omega-Black classified file. Sydney calls in to Dixon who has now became the director(again). " This is Sydney Bristow is Director Dixon available?" she asks a secretary after being connected to there phonelines. "He's very busy at the moment" says the perky assistant. "Just tell him it's an old friend."she says. "Sydney how unexpected, how are you?" Dixon says. "I'm fine, sorry to be rude but this isnt a social call." she says. "What do you need?" Dixon replies. On my father files there is an Omega-Black clearance and I was wondering if you could authorize permission for me to see it?" Sydney asks. "Sorry Syd, thats been encrypted for months, Marshall couldn't even crack it, your father was the only one with the password to acess that file. You can look for any keywords but trust me don't get your hopes up. I'm being called away, we should catch up sometime." he says. "I'd Like that" Sydney says back to him. She thenhangs up. She begins typing in anything she can think of. Laura, Irina, Sydney,Moutaineer... Then she goes to her jewlry cabinent and looks at the wedding ring Jack gave to Irina. They delivered it weeks after Jacks assumed death. She smashes the diamond right off. under it is etched something. After examining it under a microscope, it reads Project Nightrunner. She tries it for a password and to her suprise it was accepted. She remembered he at her father's apartment when he monitering his own vitals and had the Radiation disease. In his room the ring was on a table and the diamond was ripped off, also an exactoknife was on the table next to it. She didn't think much of it because Vaughn called her to the kitchen at that time. It began to get late and she was on the computer for hours, there were a number of other encrypted files and she ws too tired to decode every single one of them. Sydney then lay in bed, she got cozy quickly conisdering her strained mind and stressed body. She then fell asleep again, only to wake in her dream. Sloane shot her again, but this time she was also awken by a phone call. "Hello" she moaned. "I noticed you acessed Jack Bristow's Nightrunner files and this is a warning, you don't want to know any more about it, too many lives are at stake.

Chapter 2: The Visit
Sydney hears the phone click and the dial tone appears again. She sinks back into her matress, the thoughts of telling Vaughn race through her mind. He would push it too far or be a major asset in helping uncover something that was hidden years ago. But what bothered her more than the disturbing phone call was that in her dream Sloane new about it. And he said he kept it hidden. Her eyes close and she fades into sleep. She awakes to the buzzing of an alarm. After showering and dressing she heads straight for her computer. Immediately she pulls up those files. Ignoring the risk, if this secret was so big that her father had to die with it. Besides if it comes to it she knows that she will tell Vaughn. She clicks the earliest dated file under Nightrunner. It reads: Mark 1: Bristow, Jack; Today we recieved our first mission. The cassualties of the enemy was 14 killed. We delivered the packaged to Gustav. We wait at our headquarters in Wittenburg for an update. Brutally slaying many of my old collegues was difficult, but they new too much and needed to know the mesage. As long as I know your going to be the only one reading this makes me comfortable telling you anything. I feel my team has some kind odd vibe, and I feel the need to inspect it further, thats the debrief, I'll report again after my next mission. Thats all he wrote for that month. What was he talking about. In all of her father mission reports and history none of it rings a bell, it figures its off book. Another thing who was my father talking to? Sydeny ponders. She opens the next one. Mark 2: Bristow, Jack; Today I killed my entire team as you ordered, our new message has been delivered, I don't understand all of the errinds. But if it all adds up as you said then it's worth it. Our next big threat is Avlin Seckros. He keeps escaping our grasp. Don't worry, but if I do what you assign, I can never go back to the CIA. That is if they ever find out. Yet another mystery, but Sydney doesn't want to neglect her family and decides to spend the rest of the day with them. Nightfalls, Everybody is sound asleep except Sydney. She finishes the dishes and turns off her computer. As she turns she sees a shadowy figure at her door. "Hello Sydney, I thought I warned you." He shows his pistol in is right hand. "I should kill you right now, but I'm sure your read too much and you know what I am, but what you don't understand is I was trying to help you. Oh well" he says. BANG!

I know, I know this next chapter is really rocky but please bare with me, the next chapter will be way better.

Chapter 3: The Missing Entry

Vaughn's eyes shatter open with great intensity. He flops out of his sheet, awakened by the gunshot. He stumbles out of his room and into the kitchen. On his way in he pulls a knife out of his sock. He sees blood trinkling down the floor. A smoking gun catches his eye. He runs to the counter and peers over at the body. ~ 4 Hours Earlier~ ----Outside the Bristow Beachhouse----
Lights on in all the windows. A man stands outside the house. Breathing in an odd fashion. It begins to rain. The sweatshirt hood shadows his face. "I Warned you." He mutters to himself. He pulls out a revolver and heads for the bushes.
~Now~
Vaughn sees a hooded man on the floor, blood spewing from his head. A smoking gun in his right hand. "He shot himself." Sydney says from behind the coffee table. "Syd, whats going on?? Who is this guy? Are you alright?" Vaugh begins to question. "I should have told you, I acessed my fathers Omega-Black files. And I found some things on a top secret off-book project. Once I acessed them I got a call telling me to back off, but I just couldn't, I mean it's my father." she says talking really fast. They hug. He rubs his hand on her back to comfort her. "This wouldn't have anything to do with your dream. I hear you wake up every night. Do you think this is some kind of repressed clossure or hope of your father may still being alive?" he asks. "In a way it's just he was shot and we left him, but after that he and Sloane were never found. But after the phone call the next day I went back on the files and found out some interesting things then I was closing up and there he was in the doorway." she replies. Vaughn goes to the body and flip it over. The he begins ssearching the pockets. Only a little slip it reads: It isn't worth it. He looks up at Sydney, and puts the slip discretley into his pocket. "Nothing he is clean, except for revolver." He says. Days go by as they get through this trauma, the CIA ties the have buffed up their security. They told them it was a basic robbery. After a week goes by Sydney, still not knowing of the piece of paper Vaughn hid, heads for her computer. She immdiatley logs on to the Nightrunner files. She clicks Mark 3: Bristow, Jack; Today I delivered the software to Doctor Gitwald, his subject Cecil is ready for testing, very willing participant, so foolish. He is undergoing the transformation now. This will alter his genes. The risk of death is very high. Thats all logging out. She ponders two new names hae joined in Gitwald and Cecil. Not enough to work on if this is as covered up as it is. She clicks again. Mark 5: Bristow, Jack; I know my most recent news was very depressing and with what he knows it is dangerous. We have bigger problems now. A new player in this secret business of ours, Arvin Sloane. I met him recently and I reccomend him for this group. I delivered the final message and now I want my promotion, I want to know who I work for. Sydney thinks even harder what was her father doing? What transformation? And where was the fourth mark??

It was a little hard to follow, but I can feel a good build-up in chapters to come. It wasn't bad though, good job with the contuinous mystery and explaining things, I am interested in the "transformation."

Great Update...
Thanks for the pm.

Chapter 4: A New Message

Sydney woke up at her laptop. The nightmare still haunt her in her dreams. Vaughn walks in. "Sydney, did you fall asleep at the computer?" he asks. "Yeah, I just had to finsih another entry, sorry." she says. "Your obsessing over this whole thing it's not worth it." he says. "What makes you say that?" she asks. "This damn peice of paper that creepy intruder had on him, it wasn't important, but I knew if you found it you would try so hard to interpret it as some kind of clue. All it says it It's not worth it." he says handing the paper to her. "You, hid this from?" she says looking at him shcoked. "What, it wasn't important, here." he says grabbing throwing it into the near extinguished fire in the fire place, they let it die out went they went to bed. "No! Vaughn!" she says following him and grabbing it out of the fire. "What is the matter with you, it could have been a clue." says. "I'm sorr-" "Hold that thoguht" Sydney says. looking intently at the paper. "It looks like some kind of ink was revealed by the heat" she says: I was tested as well and I tell you, Cecil is alive and his location is in Mark: 4. Find him, he can tell you the truth."That would help if we had the foruth mark. It just is cut out of the whole report. Well our top priority is finding that mark, and Cecil was mentioned in the report, he was tested with something called the 'transformation.' You look into that and I will find that entry." she orders. "Syd, we have kids, and lives to live. I'm not in on this, we should leave it as it is, I'm sorry Syd, but this is a bad idea." he says, turning to the crib with baby Jack in it. Sydney puts her head down, Vaughn knows she won't give up though. Not much use in trying. She logs onto her laptop. She reads ahead. Mark 6: Bristow, Jack; I delivered a new message, I have hunch, but you can't tell anyone, I have reason to believe that Cecil ran off into California, I don't believe nessecary to pursue, the doctor said he will be dead within a day at most two. Logging off.
Well Syndey knows he's alive and near her. But where?? And who was my father talking to? She then needs to know more about this transformation, she pulls up the only file her father had on it. It reads: Project Status: Terminated, Subjects Alive: None, Location: Southern Australia. There was a map that was more specific. She has to go there. Maybe there are remains. She grabs the phone and calls Dixon,"Hey I need a favor, I want you to come over to my house and I will explain on the way" she says.

Chapter 5: The Transformation

Sydney and Dixon ride together in a helicopter. She informed him of what was going on. He was in utter shock to hear it, even just the way she cracked the code of her father's file. They land in Australia and hop out of the chopper. Dixon gestures him and it leaves them there. They walk on. It was a deserted area. Lots of waste and metal junk. Sydney kicks a peice of metal, her hopes of finding somewhat of a lab were crushed. She looks up at the sky. "Hey Dixon, what is that?" she says pointing at the sky. "Its an prbital satelite, it has surface recombinator so it comes close to the ground to power communications for gernerally big areas. I'd say it isn't active, but it may have been used for the lab." Dixon replies.

Sydney moves on. She notices a lot of rubble and dirt. Why so little metal. A whole lab was supposed to be here, but nothing. Unless the lab wasn't on the surface and was underground. "Dixon, is it possible that in this general area a lab maybe this size." she says pointing at some blueprints. "could be underground?" she finishes. "Very possible." Dixon replies. They look around, for tempermental expirements there had to be an easy accessable exit. They walk on, Dixon feels a spot under his feet that feels oddly unnusual. They decided it was worth investigating and look around, he flips over a gigantic rock and to their utter most suprise a small tunnel opened. Sydney, ignoring the precaution, dove staight in.

It was all rust and parts but yes a lab could have been here. Most of the items were intact. She sees a glass chamber, about the size to ft a human. It dosgusted her to believe her father was part of this. She looked away, down at the ground getting upset. "Syd, I found some data logs, you might want to see." Dixon says from a station nearby. She walks over and reads them. Mostly how it was built, but then she stumbles to how it works. After we convert the toxin we made into gas it is pushed through the venelation shaft in the chamber. Then once emitted, we wait exactly four minutes before our gasmasked team goes to the paitent and injects them with the protien enducers. Once it hits the bloodstream the patient is rendered unconsious and taken to part three. We take out any enzyme around the blood vessles and implant, nano techmites into the entire body that will adapt and hopefully become part of the body.

Sydney stops there. Nano tech? Back at this time, it was rare but this secret orginization could of had anything before it's time was reached. A picture hung on the wall it was of all of the members. Her father was in the back, standing next to the intruder in her house and a man labelled Cecil. Everone in the back row was circled and crossed out, inclding her father.
