The In-Between

If I had a mom like Michael's mom:
I'D KILL HER
She just doesn't understand that love is one of the mos powerful things in the world.
And Syd's momk eas soo cool about it.
Hopefully 5 months will past fast.

Irina is very understanding but Michael's mother is not. I can see Sydney's mother moving to America to be close to her daughter after she marries. And since Irina accepts Michael, I can see him welcoming his mother-in-law.

Chris

He got her a ring so their engagement would be real and it would keep guys from hitting on her.

Glad Irina is so accepting of their plans.

Michael's mother is too close-minded for her own good.
I'm glad Michael told her off.

I hope Irina does get to visit them in America.

I can't believe all the things I've missed while I was in Paris and since I got back :( . I didn't really have time to review because of how tired I was, I mean 10 hours of sleep in 4 days that's not a lot  , but it was worth it, even the foot pain caused by my walk up and down the Champs Elysées :P
I love how they are going to get married and move out of that country that doesn't allow them to be together and happy, as for Vaughn's mother she totally deserves what's happening to her :P

Gosh  Michael's mum doesn't seem too crash hot about the idea of her son moving away to another country... I don't think anyone would for that matter :( But it's a way Syd and Vaughn can be together so that's that ;) Yay

Cheers for the updates mate (y)

Chapter 19
For Sydney, the months she was away from Michael were the hardest of her life. She missed him so badly sometimes her entire body ached and all she could do was cry into her pillow and hope that the days would pass by faster. The worst part was that not only could she not see him, kiss him or be held by him, but she couldn’t even hear his voice either. Their cell phones didn’t work, so the only time he could call her was by using a landline phone in America to call her cell phone. As one could imagine, this was very expensive, so they didn’t do it very often, only about once a month. This left email as their only means of communication and though they sent at least one email daily, it still wasn’t the same.

As far as Sydney could tell, Michael was having a fabulous time in California. He’d made a bunch of new friends, some majoring in the same thing as he, some not and he was having a great time exploring the sights America had to offer when he could. He’d email her pictures of himself on campus with his friends or at the beach when they took a daytrip or at the other various locations he traveled to.

In each and every one of the pictures, he was wearing his huge, perfect Michael grin and every time Sydney looked at it, her heart broke a little. She was thrilled that he was having a great time, she only wished she could be there having a great time with him. Her school experience in that time wasn’t nearly as good as Michael’s was. In the previous year and a half, she’d spent so much time with Michael that she’d isolated herself away from her school friends, which meant a very lonely existence for her. She keep going, though, for every day that passed was a day closer to seeing Michael.

Though they were both missing each other, they continued on with the task they’d set out for themselves: planning out a life in America. Through endless hours of research, Sydney had found a promising article. It spoke of a couple in a very similar situation to theirs: a man from East Lasonvia fell in love with a woman from West Lasonvia. The two of them had married and moved to America a few years earlier and, as far as Sydney could tell, they hadn’t been sent back to their respective countries. If things had worked out for that couple, she had faith things would work out for them.

In keeping with his side of the plans, Michael began searching for a place for the two of them to live once Sydney came to America. He was making progress, but kept most things from Sydney, wanting to surprise her when she came (even if that did make her furious with him).

By the first week of May, Sydney was no longer in a depressed funk about missing Michael, she was increasingly ecstatic because in ten days and counting, she’d be on a plane to America. She began packing her belongings and found that she had way too much to take with her. Her mother offered to air mail her a few boxes once she and Michael were settled, but she still needed to cut back on what she was taking with her.

The plans Michael had laid out for her were simple. He and his classmates would be graduating on the tenth of May. Then, three of his friends and he were heading to Las Vegas for a four day weekend to celebrate. Sydney would be flying into Vegas on the eleventh and meeting them there. In order to go to America, Sydney had acquired a vacation visa, but it would only last a few weeks so whatever their plans were (which Sydney still did not know about, much to her fury) they needed to act quickly. Michael assured her, though, that he had everything worked out.

Very, very early on the tenth of May (it would take her nearly a day to get to Las Vegas), Sydney and mother packed up her car and drove to the airport. After a very tearful goodbye, knowing it would be a very long time before they saw one another again, Sydney headed towards her gate at the airport. The previous evening, she’d written a letter to her father, explaining that she was going to America to marry a man from West Lasonvia. Her mother was going to give her father that letter only after her plane had landed in America since Sydney was fearful her father would try to stop her from going, knowing his hatred for Westerners plus the fact that he wasn’t overly fond of America either.

Even though Sydney spent many hours on the plane and waiting in airports, she still couldn’t sleep very much. She was too excited about seeing Michael in only a matter of hours and minutes. When her plane landed, she anxiously awaited getting off and practically ran out of the terminal. She raced to the baggage claim area and collected her two pieces of luggage, which she struggled to carry while trying to find her way through the unfamiliar territory to the place where she’d promised to meet Michael. When she saw him standing against a wall, craning his neck to see over the crowds of people, she broke into a run, practically breaking the wheels off her luggage in the process. She called out his name loudly and his head snapped in the direction of her yells. Immediately, a grin broke across his face and he ran towards her, meeting her in the middle of the terminal with a loud crash as her luggage toppled over and he swept her into his arms with a long kiss.

“I missed you so much…”

“I missed you more…” they said over and over as they kissed each other.

When they finally managed to compose themselves and broke from their tight embrace, Sydney noticed that there were two other men standing around them who she vaguely recognized from the pictures Michael had sent her. “Oh Syd this is Steve and John. You remember me telling you about them, right? Guys this is Sydney,” Michael smiled as he introduced them.

“Nice to meet you,” Sydney smiled at them.

“Nice to meet you too. We’ve heard a lot about you,” Steve said.

A lot,” John chimed in.

“Every second of every day,” Steve said with a pointed look towards Michael, who laughed nervously.

“Well let’s go then,” Michael said, quickly changing the subject. He picked up one of Sydney’s suitcases while Steve picked up the other and then they led the way out of the airport. Sydney latched onto Michael’s hand as they walked, never wanting to let go of him again. Michael kept looking down at her and smiling and then she would smile back at him.

“God this is going to be a nauseating weekend with those two,” Steve muttered. John nodded in agreement.

“So, um, where are we going?” Sydney asked when the group of them climbed into the shuttle van waiting for them.

“Back to the hotel to sleep,” John moaned through a yawn. “It’s so early.”

“Early? I’ve been up for, like, a day,” Sydney laughed.

“Didn’t you sleep on the plane?” Michael asked, sounding concerned.

Sydney shrugged, “Only a little… so this is Vegas, huh?”

“Yeah it’s… somethin’,” Michael laughed.

Their ride to the hotel was brief and, when they pulled up in the front, Sydney’s jaw dropped. Though the hotel was much more impressive at night with its sparkling lights, the size of the hotel was visible during the day, causing Sydney to worry immediately. “Michael, can we afford to stay in a place like this?” she asked him quietly.

Michael nodded towards his friends. “Steve’s parents got him a suite for his graduation gift; we’re all staying together.”

“Yeah we’re even gonna let you two lovebirds have the bedroom tonight,” Steve smiled at them.

“Thanks,” Sydney laughed softly. They gathered up Sydney’s luggage and headed inside the hotel. Sydney gaped at the fancy surroundings and the large casino while they made their way to the elevator. They rode up ten stories before getting off and walking down the hallway. Steve unlocked the suite door and let them all inside, where they were met by a redheaded girl in a brilliant green bikini.

“This is Wendy, Steve’s girlfriend,” Michael told her.

“Sydney it’s so great to meet you!” Wendy squealed as she pulled Sydney into a hug. “Michael’s told us everything about you and I just think this is so sweet what y’all are doin’ getting married and living here. It’s so romantic!”

“Thanks,” Sydney laughed softly.

“You wanna come down to the pool with me?” Wendy asked excitedly.

“Oh, um, maybe later. I think I’m going to take a nap first,” Sydney told her. Wendy nodded in understanding before grabbing her boyfriend and dragging him out of the room. John opted to follow them in order to give Sydney and Michael some time by themselves.

Once alone, Sydney and Michael fell into each other’s arms once more. “I can’t believe you’re here,” Michael sighed into her shoulder.

“Me neither,” she said in return, “but I’m so tired all of a sudden. I’m gonna fall over!” she laughed.

“Come on,” he said, taking her hand and pulling her towards the bedroom. “I’ll lay down with you while you sleep.”

ahhh shes in america the lucky beeep
omg its so cute that i dont want it to end!
oh i cant wait to see hat vaughns planned for their marrage

Woo Hoo she's in America! Wonder if they are gonna get married in Vegas, they could get a full American experience and have an Elvis impersonator marry them.
Great update

I'm taking an educated guess that Sydney and Michael will be getting married in one of Vegas's wedding chapels. That way, he can get her vacation visa changed since he's there on a student visa.
