Back in the 80's we would hoist around giant boom boxes that kept getting bigger & bigger with speakers that pumped out sound that could be heard by most of the block. They ate lots & lots of D size batteries; the batteries alone weighed several pounds. Dual tape decks, built-in TVs, equalizers... you name it and the odds are that it was in a boom box of some type back then.

And what kind of music did we blare from those gargantuan mobile entertainment studios? Music that was meant to be played with the volume set to '11' and sung out loud with your friends.
