Looks interesting...

Not only have I never even heard of the book series - I don't even recognise the author.

I'm seeing episodes online now. Gunna wait till there is a full season available before I watch it.

I want to watch this, but I can't seem to bring myself to watch any TV or movies lately - like for the last few months. Every time I think about getting into some TV show, I instead end up watching interviews and lectures/talks on Youtube. I read the first book sometime in Jan/Feb and thought it was a fun romp. Don't know if I should read at least the next two books first or just go ahead and watch. I think they're combining plot threads and characters from the first 2-3 books. What's the verdict from those who've seen the first episode?

I haven't seen the episodes broadcast yet but... somebody out there must be watching because SyFy has announced a second season today after just four episodes have been aired. Season 1 is set for 10 episodes while Season 2 will be 13 episodes slated for 2017.

Started watching this (catching up with On Demand) after seeing a story about how realistic they present the space travel aspects. Lots of different plot threads to follow, though, and characters to try and figure out. Has a sort of darkness about the whole thing, similar to the more recent BSG series. Enjoying it so far (just finished episode 6).

Sounds like new episodes are Tuesday nights on SyFy.

A bit sad...I just got caught up through last night's episode, only to find out the season finale is coming next week. Oops.

That's the second time I've seen this series mentioning a BSG feel to it. I think I may have to try & 'binge watch' this one to catch up.
And 'binge watch' it I did! I ended up watching all of the first 10 episodes on Netflix while working from home, barely stayed awake Wednesday at the office as a result. :D

It's a pretty good show; has elements of BSG (re-imagined), Blake's 7, and even a little reminiscent of Detective Deckard from Blade Runner (the particular character, not the movie). I'm usually a harsh critic able to find fault with most TV shows & movies but.... this one, this one I liked. (y)

Last night I watched the entire season, all 10 episodes. Back to Back with no commercial breaks.

The show starts out with seriously pretty eye candy. I love seeing advanced technology on screen.
As the episodes progressed the eye candy effect started to wane and Syfy reared its ugly head.
Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy a well written scifi revolution story. I just felt nothing for the blight of the OPA.

Thomas Jane was, well, Thomas Jane. I didn't find fault with the actors performances but the motives of the characters were questionable. Once again we get a Syfy show wrapped in high tech eye candy. The story arc was stupid and sidestepped the significance of the unknown. For me, the conspiracy angle is old and dried out. The final episode actually made me angry at myself for sitting thru such drivel. Even the final scene with the spy left me dry.

Now that I have Season One I am committed to getting any remaining seasons to complete the series. I'll watch season two when I get it and see if it gets better. I suspect it will be more conspiracy stuff wrapped in more eye candy. I'll be surprised if Thomas Jane stays with the series past season two.

Syfy has the resources to produce much better science fiction. It angers me that they limit themselves to worn out themes and pretenses when they should be raising the bar.

Pouring Liquids on Ceres Station
Screen time was committed to show the effects of pouring liquids on an asteroid. Not only was it incomplete and inaccurate during later episodes the effect was shown without the fanfare and without the implied effects. I guess it cost too much? Why show it in the first place? I know why. It was for the drooling masses without much sense in their heads that praise every aspect of such a show because it is popular. If they are going to imply that the gravity distorts the flow of fluid from a pitcher to a glass then why not show the same effect for all fluids on the station? PLUS, how does gravity make fluids move sideways then down? Well, it looks cool anyway - EEEENNH Wrong Answer! It was Stupid.

S2 started this week and didn't have it on the DVR. :banghead: Fortunately SyFy tends to repeat episodes through the week leading up to the next episode so I've got it set to record.

Enjoyed the premiere, but the year-long gap between seasons made it tough to remember what all it was that had happened in the previous season when I was watching... :(

Yeah, same here. Watching S2:E1 I had to really think hard about some of the stuff from S1 and 'who was who' in regards to the characters.

Rocked this one on Netflix Downunder, seems to have disappeared. so who knows when we'll get season 2.
None of the local broadcasters showing it?

Thanx for the heads up...Guess I will need to roll out the first season for a quick scan before I binge the second season. (I don't watch TV Shows unless I have the complete season)

Season 2 is faster moving than Season 1, and the special effects are awesome. More humor too. I've got the books but haven't starting reading them yet.

I don't watch commercial television, you think you guys have inane adds, but no one is talking about so assume not. Back on Netflix with season 2 being dropped in August I think. You would think by now Netflix would have their stuff organised in this part of the World.

I dig "regular" tv, Cable is cool too, I guess I'm old school, gotta love Andy Griffith, All in the family, and Star Trek re-runs.....
