I thought it was off-topic and kinda ruins the intent of the thread?
Bro, I have had threads torn to shreds over the years, that wernt my intent, sometimes its "ok" to laugh, its a good way for others to see if you have a sense of humor, don't sweat the small stuff bro, I'm a spacey critter fan to....;):D

its "ok" to laugh, its a good way for others to see if you have a sense of humor
Sure it is. Its also important to know when and where to insert comedy. If done properly, it can be entertaining, if not, it can ruin one's respect.
Jocularity that is out of place indicates an inability to grasp deeper concepts and shows narcissistic insecurities. The thing about community forums is that some topics are intended to be repositories and others are intended for comic relief.

This thread is an example of a repository that asks for others to add to the intended topic, not subtract from it. The idea is to participate in a fandom discussion of the designs used to depict different aliens & creatures on film (video). "Gloria" is not an alien and is merely an actress from an sad obsolete TV show that was geared to making fun of hypocrites. Not even in the realm of speculative fiction at all.

This thread asks a deeper question:
How strange can aliens be rendered and how likely is that design to what may be out there?

Anyone that knows me, knows that is what I love most about science fiction. I love monsters and creatures and aliens. The stranger looking the more I like them.
I have the same passion about space ships and alien planets.

It all comes from my earliest days of reading science fiction and fantasy.
The authors painted strange exotic pictures into my head and seldomly did I get to actually see those pictures.
There are thousands of aliens in my head that film has never depicted.
What is more interesting is that the Universe is so vast that all and more may actually exist.

Another thing I like to do with film aliens is to try to figure out what type of planet they originate from based on how they look? What kind of civilization were they exposed to that caused them to have the values and attitudes they depict?
Too often, aliens don't match up with their possible evolution but merely mimic human qualities, features and attitudes.

So are you calling me stupid? cmon man! You may be the guru in here, but it says all are welcome, me being lighthearted I contribute, but I like to insert a little comedy to chill the mood. That's me, remember the earth and people are not the same in thought or a continuum , thank God for that, if that's the case then we all be Xeroxed robots, and that would suck, dude I'm not here to destroy your thread, one must realize not everyone thinks like others, so its all good.;)

And with that, this thread has my Italian blood perklating, I'm done here......pffft....Ciao!!!!

not really, just giving feedback. I'm sorry I hurt your feelings.
You may be the guru in here
Well, I never implied anything like that. I do try to participate, just like always.
insert a little comedy to chill the mood
Nothing wrong with that, so do I sometimes. Thing is, my mood doesn't really need to be chilled.
dude I'm not here to destroy your thread
I'm aware of that. Since this is a thread I created with a certain objective in mind, I just wanted to put it back on track.
so its all good
Sure it is, but consider that you think I am in the wrong because I tried to explain my thinking yet take offense when I try to explain. It IS all good as far as I'm concerned.
Italian blood perklating, I'm done here......pffft
LOL, all good, strange thing to post? A contradiction...?

While it is nice when others participate in threads I create, I require no validity. Not many threads of mine have participation. I post because I want to share.

Good morning. Tom, I appreciate the hard work you put into your threads. Whether you realize it or not, it is a joy to read the posts of a hard-core monster fan.
It kind of makes me sad that as I've gotten older & busier I've lost those hours of imagining.
Long ago I'd go in circles & get stumped (lol) thinking what an alien would likely have...eyes, nose, imagination, hunger etc.
There are great-looking monsters, and then there are great-looking monsters that are given great "personalities".
Picard's frustrated attempts at communicating with aliens/monsters were my favorite scenes.
(that crystaline entity was sooo creative!)
Another Next Gen alien that impressed me was the alien as a ship that a telepath boards...? Can't recall the episode's name. I believe the alien was suicidal?

I agree, it is an enjoyable exercise to imagine the alien's home. Why are there scales, or multiple "limbs", or a shifting camouflage? What planet drove the species to evolve into ______?

I'll confess I do the same with humans :bag::D
I look for signs. It's all so interesting!
Recently I correctly guessed the employee that had written a nasty note at work. :smug: The handwriting said it all. My boss's guess was way way off.
Okay...I'm rambling now. More coffee, stat!
