Sci-Fi LEGO Toy Concept

Hello everyone
I'm new here so I hope I'm not doing something I shouldn't be doing...
I've been a huge sci-fi fan since I was 7, growing up on Star Trek reruns (TOS, when there was no need to call it TOS ;)
My appetite has grown since then and enjoy many varied adventures.
One thing I did as a child was play, and sci-fi was almost always on the menu.
One of the toys I enjoyed at the time was LEGO, particularly (you've guessed it) its sci-fi theme.
I've grown up a lot (physically that is) since, and began toying (pun intended) with the idea of creating a design in LEGO to commemorate those original sets.
In the process, I created a planetary base for exploration with uniforms that aren't too dissimilar to some shows you might know.
The idea behind this concept is that if enough people like it and add their support to it, LEGO would have a look at it and decide wether to turn it into an actual set or not.
So I'm turning to you all - fellow sci-fi fans - to have a look at what I created, and to let me know what you think... and if you really like it, it would be awesome to get a few additional supporters. This dream won't turn into a reality without your help

Well, that's pretty cool! While I'm not a LEGO person, as it it would be yet another 'start cheap but then become obsessive & expensive' hobby of mine, I always find the designs pretty cool and imaginative and make it a point of visiting the local LEGO store when permissible.

How many votes do you need at Planetary Outpost before LEGO considers making it an official set?

Thank you! And I do relate to your point about it becoming an ever-increasing hobby

10,000 in total, but I need to get to 1,000 within 150 days or so, to get extra time, so every little helps - if only I had 700 friends!

Welcome aboard! Legos kick butt, I do recall you could purchase em' cheaper when I was a youngin, but like everything prices subject to change with out notice.....

Not related, directly, to this topic but more of a general rant...

So I create a new account at ideas.lego.com so I could add a 'vote' to this set using my usual personal email address, no problem, it creates it fine... I then try to log in using the newly created account and I get a message saying I need to accept the T&C... fine, I click agree and am then prompted that my email address is already in use on lego.com and I should go over there to find out the account name... I go over there, use the form to request the account(s) associated with my email address and the result? I get an email listing just one account associated to my personal email address, the newly created account. Clear my cookies, make sure I have adblock disabled for both URLs (idea.lego.com & lego.com), rinse & repeat, and... same results. :banghead:

So apparently in the past I created an account (likely to vote on a different set, @BirdOPrey5 used to be into it as well) but when I try to get the account info it doesn't get listed and I can't use the new account, even though it accepted the email address during the creation process, because the email already exists somewhere in there system. <sigh>

It might've... until you take inflation into account
Also, I have a feeling the number of parts per set has greatly increased over the last 40 years...
but if you think sets are expensive, try buying bricks on a per part basis - it would make your eyes water!

That sucks Kevin 🙁
Does that mean you're unable to vote ?
How about trying with a different address? That way you could vote early... and often! 😛

Yep, exactly what it means for now. I can't do anything on the ideas.lego.com site until I agree to the T&C but it won't let me because the email address is already out there. Somebody in their IT group needs a 'thunk' to the back of the head for that.
:twak:

If I have to, I'll end up doing that. One advantage of having a few domains registered is that I can use just about any email address, have it forwarded to my Gmail account, and it thinks it's an actual different email account.

If you're willing to do that 9,500 times, you won't see me complaining 😉
Seriously though, anybody got any good idea on how to get this project seen by more people? I've tried pretty much everything I can think of 😕

Yeup there are tons of lego kits out there, maybe I should have kept my from the 70's, it might have been worth something?

Not sure it's such a good investment - I guess it would depend on how good its condition is. If you check ebay for old sets from the 70s you'll see the prices fluctuate but aren't that high. More modern but rarer sets go for crazy money, bur who would pay so much for a few LEGO bricks?

Hello everyone - a quick update: I made some major modifications to my proposal and resubmitted it. This means if you supported it last time, you need to support it again (don't worry: LEGO streamlined the support process - it's way quicker now).
And if you haven't yet supported it, maybe the changes I made will make you reconsider?
Let me know!
