I made the mistake of reading some reviews first before watching this one so I ended up expecting it to be worse than it was. I didn't think it was that bad. Yeah, it's bit obvious that the connections to the original Cloverfield movie is shoe-horned in but it sorta' works.

My biggest thing after watching it was the arm moving on its own. You can see it in the trailer briefly, moving on it's own. What the arms does after it is caught though is what makes me puzzled. In fact, the whole thing with the arm is a bit puzzling when you take into account how it got detached. I may have to rewatch when there are less distractions around me.

I was surprised that Donal Logue was only in it as a cameo only since he is likely more well known to genre fans thanks to his role on Gotham.

I enjoyed the first film, it was pretty scary, I was under the impression that the large critter was from a Govt. experiment gone wacko? For once I would love to see a series of movies stay focused and in a suit. The Netflix kinda' is a drag. It should have been shown at the theaters ,and then shown on cable. New formats don't really work, oh well, this is another film I wont be watching.....

Set on its own, without the first two films, this film could be considered fairly good.
It has enough action and even some chick-flick stuff. Sorta-kinda like a USS Eldridge (DE-173) type of phenomenon but an inside view. Towards the end it digressed into a run-of-the-mill murder thriller horror. Meh.
However, Being a Cloverfield movie, I was expecting to see some monsters. In one scene with the Dr on Earth looking at the devastation you can see a whisp of something huge moving in the fog. Thinking, Alright! Here comes the monster sequences where we find out the dimensional rift caused some sort of ecology thing similar to the movie The Mist. Gunna get to see more of the Cloverfield fauna than the few creatures we have already seen in the first two movies...But nope.
Some people might say holding back the monsters is good film making. The what you don't see and all that jazz. I say "BullCrp". I watched Cloverfield Paradox to see Cloverfield monsters and the ensuing mayhem. I didn't mind the dimensional science fiction but as far as I'm concerned it didn't deliver.
10 Cloverfield Lane was also a let down. Again they used the unseen is good and wrapped it in a sadistic wrapper. But at least they did reveal some monsters at the end.
I remember watching Cloverfield at the theater. I remember leaving with a raging headache. Subsequent viewings of the original film make it a mishmash of found footage nonsense with limited exposure of the monster, usually out of frame and blurry or distorted.
I rate the whole Cloverfield mess (all three films) at a low 1.5 out of 5. Meh

Couldn't agree more Tom, though dug 10 Cloverfield Lane, they should have released that one without the added Cloverfield bits at the end.

Was listening to a podcast yesterday where they were defending Cloverfield, claiming everything gets explained in a series of comics and websites outside of the movie. Same podcast had a meltdown a couple of years ago over The Devil Inside ending abruptly with the final scene, and then explaining the ending on a website. Needless to say have jettison that one from my listening list, stay consistent people.

Typical hollywierd, a relay race of writers changing and passing the script and story baton to another clueless writer. Like alien covenant saying David was the creator of all the alien critters when clearly the spacy jockey was a zillion years old. Like the film the mummy, ancient critters being woken up to get ya, is lots more spooky than some zany robot, giving boring speeches on creation and the universe. Stay on script...........

The first Clover field was interesting, kind of a Blair Witch scenario. I often wondered how did that critter get created and released just from that film. In my view it would have been nice if it was a experiment on a mid-west military base that got loose, and went around wrecking havoc on americans…….

"Kishin" is a Japanese manga that explored the history of the creature leading up to the events of the first movie.

"Kishin" is a Japanese manga that explored the history of the creature leading up to the events of the first movie.

Under water critters remind me of old Japanese Godzilla and other films, they always come from the sea, and the action builds up to some really awesome classic effects. So the critter was a Kishin? wow!
