Fantasy 300

Ok, since I'm too lazy to actually re-type this, I'm just going to copy and paste what happened from a Mu* that I OOCly told people on.

"My brother, our father, and I all went up to go shopping. We wanted to go see a movie, but the store that my dad wanted to go to was going to close not long after the movie got done, so we decided to go to the store in the next town, because they always used to be open until midnight. Well, we had dinner, watched 300, drove over to the store... open for 20 more minutes. Got Lewis(A dog) a tag,(Finally... :() but didn't have time for any actual shopping. :(2"

That's the story, with some minor editing from the first time I told it, but that was mostly formatting junk.

Anyway, it was a pretty cool movie but, as always, I'd rather not have a sex seen on the screen while my dad is right next to me. Awkward. Anyway, yeah... Cool movie, though. Nice action scenes. Plus, now that I've seen it, I understand about all the over-the-top things, and that the giant dude with "swords for hands" shown in the commercial didn't actually have swords for hands. He just had the flesh stripped off of his forearms, then had blades attached to the bones, from what I could see. Anyway, yeah. Good movie.

I thought it was really good, I saw it sometime last week (I have no sense of time, I just know it was over four days ago, maybe five..)

I liked how accurate they were with how the boys were trained. They really did that. I also liked how there was a good mix of fantasy in there as well, even though the basic truths were there.

All around it was a good movie and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I don't like many movies, I think most that come out are complete felgercarb, but this one avoided that sad road.

Yeah, I like how the fantasy parts made sense because of the narrator. It was like a fish story, where the fantastical bits were less like lies and more like extreme exaggerations. At least, it seemed like that to me.

I just got home after watching this. Let me tell you, and I'm not exaggerating in the least, I had [a good time] the entire movie. It was so incredibly [wonderful]. Greatest thing I've ever seen in my entire life.

*Throws up a little in his mouth.*

Yeah, that's way too much information...

Admin - Edited his original post and your quote of it. Sorry you had to read that.

I finally got around to watching 300 on DVD. I know, I know... I am way behind.

This movie is one I was looking forward to based upon the good word of mouth it received. I'm not sure it is a movie that I would watch again but it was an entertaining movie.

- It is an entertaining "What if... ?" story.

- The depiction of some of the Persion 'monsters' were a bit over the top. The executioner with the blade arms was something I would expect to see in a game like Doom.

- Was there every any doubt that Queen Gorgo was going to be betrayed in her deal with Theron?

- Just what was at the bottom of the Spartan pit? Considering the amount of blood & gore shown, I wasn't expecting a fade to black in that scene.

- That narration by Dilios is what really 'makes' the film work.

- No extras on the standard DVD other than director's commentary.

I am surprised to hear talk about a possible prequel being made. Some movies should just be left alone.

Bear in mind, the entire thing is based on a Frank Miller graphic novel. Thus the over-the-top comic-book villains, the transparency of the plot, etc.

And I think it was supposed to be a bottomless pit.

... which is why I put this movie into the 'fantasy' genre if anything.

And I think it was supposed to be a bottomless pit.
After the messenger requested "Earth and water" and Leonidas responds with that he'll "find plenty of both down there!" I was expecting to see what fate were to befall the men being tossed in. Just a *minor* disappointment that it wasn't shown. Heck, I was kind of expecting to see them go "Thud!" at the bottom of the pit as a Rancor comes out of the shadows. :ROFLMAO:
