I suppose anyone who objected was shot in the face

I don't think they would have even thought of objecting... thats the weird thing... when you get into film-making circles that close- people stop questioning wether things were a good idea or not.

That said... Harrison Ford and Speilberg did actually bitch and moan struggle to make it into a half good film. Any one who's read Lucas idea for the "Monkey King" which was going to be Indy 3 know just how out there he is...

Talking giant ape.

A 100 foot long, three story tall prototype Nazi Tank (Star Wars Prequels anyone)

A battle between the monkey are of the Monkey King and an robotic Nazi army... (again the Star Wars Prequels)

Indy's death and subsequent resurrection due to the Monkey Kings magic life giving stick...

Wow...Words cannot describe what I just read.

*sigh*, I guess the whole "autistic" thing is actually real with Lucas; failure...Maybe the whole autistic thing with Spielberg tries to make him succeed. Two great evils :;):

Wow...Words cannot describe what I just read.

It's all in the very nice making of Indian Jones book (which actually is worth the money)

But yeah I couldn't believe it when I read it- funny thing is there were two versions of the treatment- and one was by Chris Columbus who wrote the quite brilliant "Gremlins"!

Oh the film also started in Scotland with Indy fighting a ghost possessed suit of Armour so breaking the rule that the supernatural only enters an Indy film in the last act!!!

They are both directing icons no doubt, but I think Spielberg edges Lucas out just a tad because I never really cared for the way Lucas wrote scripts. I mean come on.. Jar Jar.. need i say more? :P

As already said here, as a director with the ability to take his audience in, Spielberg owns lucas in the long run. Maybe Lucas had the greater creative potential.
But Indy 4 was just a waste. They're getting old I guess.

:D I think Spielberg bases some of his movies on "sci- FACTION". He researches true-life abductees and makes stories. Lucas just makes sci-fi stories that have no connection to real life.
:eek::D:cool:

Director? Wow... I think I'd have to go with Spielberg, but then again I don't like any of their very recent work. Looking at the old stuff, Lucas' films will forever capture my imagination, but Spielberg just has such an amazing body of work.

Had to go with SS as well. All the best reasons have already been written here in the thread. I think their younger versions would want to kill their elderly versions to be honest.

If it were possible, seeing a conversation with a young Lucas versus old Lucas-who-sold-out-to-Disney would be interested indeed. :coffee:

Speaking of the Disney sellout, do you thinhk the Star Wars series will be better than when it was in Lucas's hands. Keep in mind i am only comparing the proposed 7, 8, and 9 with the already made 1, 2, and 3.
