With the next series due to start airing in January, plans are being made for the fourth season even without commissioning.

As a steady rival to Doctor Who, the show tends to please everyone who watches it. So it can only be good news to the viewers. Although that said, the storyline has to come to a natural conclusion sometime. And thinking about a fourth season does make you think that the characters in the third season will not get to the bottom of things!

Primeval showrunner Adrian Hodges has revealed that he is already looking beyond the upcoming third season of the ITV1 show.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Hodges said that he and co-creator Tim Haines "are planning for a fourth series, if it is commissioned. We've already begun discussing possible plotlines".

Hodges, who is behind the BBC's revival of Survivors, also confirmed that post-production is now underway on the third season and that it is likely to be screened at the start of next year.

"We've finished shooting, and finished post-production on three out of ten episodes," he said. "The other seven are in various stages of CGI and post, but they'll all be done in time for January, or whenever it's going to be."

I really got into Primeval airing here on BBC America. I believe [strike]season[/strike] series 2 just finished so our watching is a bit behind but I would like to see it continue. So far it's been some great story lines.
