Moonlight vs. Blood Ties

Any Moonlight or Blood Ties fans here? Personally I like Blood Ties better of the two. I was really disappointed when I heard the series was canceled but at least they are putting out Blood Ties Season 2 on DVD. I just ordered it on Amazon. Hopefully it gets here soon!

Which series did you guys like better out of the two?

Blood Ties.

I love the trippy soundtrack and up-beat pace. I just haven't been able to get into Moonlight in the same way.

If I couldn't have raised the money I'd have commissioned further series.

I didn't know there was a second season, must keep an eye out for it on DVD.

And currently.... True Blood is looking good, in a small town soapy way.

Blood Ties turned out well by the end of the season, so happy to wait for the next one.

Just dusted off an old idea I have for a TV vampire series so enjoying jotting down new notes for that one.

Meanwhile, switched off the dire Vampire Diaries after just ten minutes, American high school, drippy girls, tall dark and impossible sulky boys and vampires? Where's Buffy and Mr Pointy!!????

What's not to like? They're both derived from Forever Knight, the first ever vampire detective series. Best of all, they each have they're own way of doing things: Blood Ties focuses on supernatural threats and horrors, while Moonlight focuses on mundane crime and vampire conflict. I think adding drama to otherwise gimmicky concepts makes them more wholesome and palatable. Too bad they both were canceled.

But they're definitely better than the silly Vampire Diaries. That show exists solely to cash in the the stupid Twilight craze. And there's also a massive plot hole: why would the author make her vampires burn in sunlight if she gives her character a magic ring that blocks out the UV? What's the point of having a weakness that doesn't ever impede you?
