Clark Gregg reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel’s feature films as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary. Coulson’s team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage, Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) expert pilot and martial artist, Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker); brilliant engineer and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet).

From Executive Producers Joss Whedon (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” ”Buffy the Vampire Slayer”); Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” pilot co-writers (“Dollhouse,” “Dr.Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”); Jeffrey Bell (“Angel,” “Alias”); and Jeph Loeb (“Smallville,” “Lost,” “Heroes”) comes Marvel’s first TV series. “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.

... and the first official promo has been released. Earlier a 7 second clip was floating around the net featuring the Hulk rampaging but it was quickly pulled after being hit with a DMCA notice. The official promo is fast paced but you can get an idea of some of the characters being shown and the voice over from Agent Coulson gives it a bit of a Fringe vibe. "We work the cases that SHIELD hasn't classified. The strange, the unknown."

The clip is now available from the official Agents of SHIELD site.

Personally I'm thinking that might be Abomination instead of the Hulk because, even though the video is really grainy, it kind-of-sort-of-maybe looks like spiny texture on the arms. That would allow post-Avengers Hulk to still be a 'good guy' in the current Marvel universe fighting with SHIELD instead of against it.

I'll be really interested in seeing how well this series is received. I can see it going either way, it becomes massively popular and helps grow the marvel universe in the public eye (not that it needs much help at the moment) or it has too small a following to justify the costs and gets cancelled after one season.

Hope Whedon is hands-on with this. I've ambivalent about Shield/Avengers but totally fanboy on Whedon.
wonder if anyone will ever try a tv of Astro City?

Starts this Friday on Channel 4 (UK)

For those of you who've seen the Avenger's movie, you'll notice that Agent Coulson is back from the dead (for those of you who haven't watched #Avengers . . . oops, sorry :D)

I'm interested to see how they do this - the trailers looked good, I'm quite excited to watch it (especially now Supernatural is off air until we get Season 9)

Written by Joss Whedon, I have high hopes for this show!

I enjoyed it. Had the quirky humour we expect from Joss Whedon - some real laugh out loud moments - action scenes, nods towards the movies. A nice pilot episode.

@Nix, how is it turning out in the UK? The US ratings have been pretty good and ABC has ordered a full season of the show.
