A Beautiful Mind (2001)

While watching the Academy Awards I realized that I had forgotten what a great movie A Beautiful Mind was. It also had a great soundtrack. I love anything by James Horner. He also did Enemy At The Gates,Titanic,Apollo 13,Perfect Storm.

Anyway what do you guys think of the wonderful movie.

Don't get me started on how much I LOVE this movie!!! Hehe, Russell Crowe did an awesome job portraying John Nash. And Jennifer Connelly was sooo good! She has been one of my favorite actresses since I first saw Labyrinth a few years ago. She looks the same. I still have yet to buy Beautiful Mind, but I will probably get it for my birthday, hopefully. The music is awesome, I need the soundtrack. The movie was alot different from the book. "I am not a soldier!" I love the part when he is pointing out the umbrella in the stars! I luv dat part. and i never fail to crack up when Jennifer Connelly (Alicia Nash) breaks the mirror. I know its a serious part, but come on, its hilarious. Sad movie tho, I cried half the time, but I love. Overall great movie!

Ooohh, my favorite movie EVER!! I loved it, loved it, loved it. And of course, none of the dunderheads at my school have even heard of it.

It was pretty great. The entire movie had me on the edge. I don't think I really understood the life of John Nash (or a schizophrenic) until I saw it. Russell Crow and Jennifer Connelly both did an incredible job!

God I know, I think only one person I know has seen it.

ah man I remember Labyrinth I grew up watching that movie. I think Ill start a topic about it hehehe.

This was a great movie, it confused me at parts but when it was over i figured it all out. I hear that you notice and pick up a lot more things and details and stuff like that the second time you watch it. I have only watched it once so has anyone else noticed that?

I love it! Strange story though, i only ended up seing it because it beat Lord of the Rings last year for best picture...and i ended up loving a movie i thought i'd hate! But i love the soundtrack!! :D

Yea, you notice little hints through the movie as to Marcy and Charles. Like, when he first meet Marcy and she's playing in the park, she's running through a crowd of pigeons but they're not flying away.

I think that I'm one of the few people who didn't actually like this movie. It was alright, but it didn't knock my socks off. Maybe because I really don't like Russell Crowe. Jennifer Connelly was good in it though, I'll give her that. I totally forgot she was in Labrynth! That movie used to scare me, with the huge muppet type things! The score was good too... But I don't know... maybe because they depicted his schizophrenia so inaccurately (I'm a psych student). I know, they had to, because auditory hallucinations are really hard to get on the screen, but still...

Ok I really thought I was going to absolutely hate this movie but when I finally watched it all and the the end I loved!!! I cried so hard at the end when he was giving the speech!! Like see my mom ruined it for me. cuz I was like half done with the movie before it showed he was Psycho and she like yeah those ppl aren't really he pyscho I was like what!?!? really! lol I was so confused!!

but the best part ever was when he was seeing his old school buddy and he was on the porch reading or doing something and the guy came in and the college buddy said "hey John how you doing? John: Good ( the guy goes to sit in the chair across from John) John: hey have you meet Harvey? (points to the empty chair the CB was going to sit in) CB :Sh*T John your not alright! John: (starts cracking) hey if I have to been insane I mine as well have fun with it!

okay, so that wasn't the exact wording but it was hilarious!!!

I was surprised how much I liked it because I usually don't care for disease-of-the-week/very-special-people movies (and I think that actors tend to get extra points just for appearing in them)--I couldn't sit through Shine, for example. This one was interesting because I didn't find the protagonist particularly likable except through the eyes of his devoted wife, who in many ways redeemed him. Still, you have to respect a man who is able to learn to live with his demons.
