A New Agent

Hello! I started reading the site and all the FanFiction, and loved all of it. So, I decided to try out my writing with an idea that just came to mind. This is my first FanFiction, so any suggestions and comments will be helpful. Let me know if I should keep going with this. Thanks all.

CIA Headquarters

“Hello Agent Bristow, Agent Vaughn,” said Kendell. “The CIA has intercepted a called made into SD-6. This called contained information about another Rambaldi artifact location. We have brought in another agent to help in the matter, but you two are to be traveling to London.”

“I know that I have the week off from work, but what if I get called in by Sloane?” asked Sydney.

“Jack taking care of that as we speak. He’ll be covering for you all week if it’s necessary,” informed Kendell. “As for the mission, you are to be traveling with Margaret Smith, especially trained for this mission. You two are to be traveling as a married couple. You leave tonight. I believe you’ll find everything in order,” he said as he handed both Vaughn and Sydney their special mission folders.

Before opening the folder, Sydney asked, “What does this Margaret Smith do, as well as how she fits into the married couple scenario?”

“Margaret will be playing the part of your daughter,” said Kendell. He then walked away.

That left Sydney and Vaughn to look at each other in bewilderment.

An hour later…

“How old do you suppose she is? I mean, I don’t believe that anyone could believe that she’s our daughter if she’s in her twenties. And I think she would be in her twenties if she’s specially trained. Otherwise, how would she be capable?” Sydney said in a rush.

“Syd, even thought the CIA if horrible at these things, I think we should meet her first before considering if she’s capable,” Vaughn cautioned.

“I still have to wonder what age she is. It would certainly be a key indicator if she was capable or not, right?” Sydney asked for conformation.

“I---,” Vaughn started.

“Ahem. My name is Margaret Smith and I am 15 years old, and I assure you that I am capable of doing any mission that comes to my attention,” came a voice behind them.

Vaughn and Sydney turned to see who had said that. They were shocked. Both were facing a girl who was most definitely 15, and was very convincing as to being their “daughter”. Margaret was about 5’5” in heels, had sandy blonde hair and green eyes similar to Vaughn’s, and had Sydney’s kind and gentle smile.

“I thought that you would like to get to know me before we set out on our mission, but since we have so little time to do that, I’ll just leave it be at that I’m 15 and I’m actually young enough to be your child. And also, for a little information, you can call me Maggie.” She said all of this in a direct manner, and then walked away.

Vaughn and Sydney just watched the retreating figure.

Margaret POV

They looked like I had imagined. And the pictures were young but true. I can’t believe that I actually got to meet them. Agent Michael Vaughn, his father killed by Sydney’s own mother…man, that must suck in the developing of their relationship. And then Sydney Bristow, her mother dies in a car accident only to be known years later alive. But, I know how that feels don’t I? I know all about absentee parents. Even though they don’t know that they’re being absent from my life…

No more POV

“Hey, my name is Eric Weiss. I’m a friend of your new partner Vaughn. I can tell you anything you want to know if you’d like.” Weiss said, blocking Margaret’s way, with a smirk.

“Well, since you’re offering…they’re just a hopeless cause aren’t they,” Margaret said referring to Sydney and Vaughn, who seemed to be engrossed in a deep conversation.

“Are you talking about Syd and Mike? Hell, if the damn protocol wasn’t in the way, they would be married by now I think,” Weiss said.

“Why doesn’t Agent Bristow just quit the CIA? I’m sure then they could work on a relationship then,” Margaret thought out loud.

“Well, it’s just a little more complicated then that. I don’t expect you to understand though,” Weiss said.

“Oh, you mean the whole deal with her being a double agent for the CIA to bring the organization SD-6 along with the Alliance down. Also, I don’t suppose that you believe that I know that protocol prevents them, him being her handler and all, to have an emotional relationship. Well, Agent Weiss, I know a thing or two about life and about them. And I can tell you that they would do anything to make a relationship work if they would admit to each other as well as themselves what they feel for each other.” Margaret ranted in an angry manner.

Weiss, stunned by the defensive outburst said, “How would you know about any of that? I don’t think that you would even have clearance to know the things that you would know right now. How did you find it out?”

“For as long as I could remember, I have searched and worked my tail off to find out any information I could about them. It had always been my passion, the one uncontrollable desire that I could not restraint. But no one had ever understood why.” Margaret explained.

“Then why don’t you try to explain it to me, and see what I make of it,” Weiss said in all seriousness.

“For anyone to understand, they have to first know that I was orphaned at birth. And even though I was orphaned, it wasn’t by choice. She was forced to give me up for a “bigger plan”. Besides, she wasn’t even my mother. I found all of that out at a young age-probably before I could talk. Anyway, they told me the names of my parents. Ever since then, I learned how to pick up on little details and how to do my research on people,” Margaret explained.

“Oh,” said a speechless Agent Weiss. “Well, I can believe that I suppose. And I am sorry to hear about your parents. But, if you know who they are, and know so much information, why wouldn’t you just contact them to let them know?” he asked.

“That’s where it gets complicated. You see, they work within the CIA,” explained Margaret.

“I don’t think that anyone I know has a last name of Nelin, but I could check for you, and we could get a way for you to meet them.” Weiss fidgeted a little while looking at the young agent. He couldn’t help but feel sorry for her. He wanted to help.

“Thank you really, but my last name isn’t really Smith. That’s just what I was told to use for the present mission,” Margaret confessed.

“Then what is you’re last name? I’m sure I could help,” Weiss coerced her on.

“My last name is Vaughn. Agent Michael Vaughn and Agent Sydney Bristow are my parents. I was artificially inseminated---well, not me, but I think you get the idea---, and they didn’t even know. And they won’t know, and will never know because no one is going to tell them.” Margaret said with a pointed, but teary eyed look. With that, she walked away.

That left Agent Weiss standing there, thinking about how he was going to keep this one from slipping.

That's all for now, let me know!

Here's the problem- you tried to throw in a twist that shouldn't be there. Don't rush things so much. Just edit your post and switch a few things around. And the whole artificial insemination thing- it just doesn't work.

It's not bad, it's just, I don't know, the whole "Margaret is their daughter" thing is just really, really hard to believe. But hey, don't listen to me, the queen of idiocy and run-ons and monstrous stories.
