ADHD? or ADD?

I got Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or known as ADHD. I have had it since I was six, and at the time was a really bugger. ADHD makes most ppl hyper and they can't control themsevles without meds. I used to bite my brother, run around in class, and shout ALOT. I am on Dexedrine and my parents want to get my dose higher cause I don't focus alot on my studies I am here or having fun. I am so mad at them :angry: , cause with high dosages I feel depressed and lazy. I NEED my hyperness. :lol: Hope my old folks don't.

awww, i have a friend with adhd.. and she is soooo hyper all the time.. she runs around screaming for no reason.. and she can't focus in class, and gets me in trouble.. poor thing.. i love her tho.. shes so sweet.

I know what you mean! I will sit there and make sounds to keep myself busy. And I think it's great to be active like run and dance, cause I burn off all that extra energy.

i too have it! but it is very minor my parents seem to think i need the meds but i really dont (i have spent days w/o it and seen no change)

YAY! Someone has it too. Some ppl think it's not real, cause of felgercarb. They think it's on what a person eats. Right, my thought is that the adrealine in some ppl run higher in like yourself and mine and it causes us to behave hyper.

lol well i barely have it, if i do i doubt its adhd and just add, eventhough i was diagnosed with adhd, what medication and how much?
also, i think it is so over diagnosed, and why do more guys haveit than girls

Dexedrine is my meds and I take 2 caps a day!!! They wanna put me to 4! No way! I have no idea really why boys have it more, maybe it's something with the pituary gland in guys which is a the adrealine and since guys are built more it makes to much.

wat does add really mean? i kno its attention deficit disorder, but wat does it realy mean cuz my friends n i joke around about it(im ashamed to say..) but im not 100% sure wat it is and wat it does to a person.

My mom thinks its a load of felgercarb...that its all got to do with kids planting their butts in front of the computers and video games all day. But frankly, I think its real. My good friend's sister had it really bad growing up, but I think she's finally growing out of it.

Just make sure your parents hear you out. Make sure they know you don't feel comfortable going up with the dosage. Its ultimately up to them what they do for their child, but you should have a say in it, because its your life their talking about!

if you really think you shouldnt be on it, next time you take the medicine, put it by your back tooth between your lip and gumline...always works for me!

we actually studied adhd in my abnormal psychology class this quarter. pretty interesting. it is quite real, not a made up (malingering/factitious) disorder.

the problem that a lot of people have with adhd is that medicating children seems to be a "quick fix" for parents to calm their children down. plus, there's the problem that you mentioned, bondgal - the side effects of the medication suck.

It depends on the knid of medication u get. I can tELL the difference between when I've had it and not. I'm much calmer, more focused on school, whatever. BUT, I have NO social life! I live in a world of books, teachers, and studies after I have taken it. But my fiends except that. They know my medication forms a mask over the true, crazy, hyper, insane, laughing, and very creative me!

I have ADD. I take these blue pills called Adderall. (i think that's how u spell it) PPL used to make fun of me because I was "different". And tease me saying this like, "r u sure u took ur medication this morning?". It got really annoying after a while. Then finally I blew up at them. It was a little akward walking past them in the hall. They were surrounded by friends and me...my books...Then I got friends! Now I'm happy, happy, hyper!

i have ADD i have had a long time but they didn't notice until i was in the third grade when my grades were dropping and i could barely pay attention in school or anything practically so i had to go to a place to take these tests it was horrible i hated it and i had to take Ridilin (nasty medicine) but not anymore i have calmed down sorta since then but i may have to go back to it since im gettin hyper all the time again and my friend has ADD too so when she doesn't take her medicine us together WHOA its crazy haha so its not that bad cuz i like being hyper!! hehe but sumtimes it can get you into trouble

i know some ppl said that to me too and then started laughing like it was some big joke so i said back to them *HA-HA very funny is ur head up ur ass!!* i was pisst off and this teacher said it to me once and i started to cry cuz it hurt me so much and she too thought it was funny then she goes i was just joking you know that right. . i didn't say anything cuz i knew if i did i was gunna blow up and yell!!

As long as I can remember i've had ADHD, you can TOTALLY tell when I haven't taken my meds. My friends mom always brings up the incident she told her daughter hse could have a party if we all promised to behave. I sat in a chair with my hands folded the WHOLE time. her mom asked my friend why I was like that and she said, "oh her mommy gave her EXTRA medicine today." she won't let me or my friend live that down lol.
