Alias Languages and Accents

Personally I am waiting for them to speak Czech, as my husband is Czech and I am desperately trying to learn it.  (Not easy...but I can tell you how to order beer!  ) And I speak French so I always feel like I am getting something extra out of the show when they use it.
Ooh, I bet Czech would be REALLY hard. It's a Slavic language, isn't it? They're all supposed to be particularly difficult to learn, because they aren't really closely related to either the Romance languages (Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian) or the Germanic languages (English, German, Dutch, Danish, Swedish..). Funny that they haven't spoken it on the show, considering they've had two missions in the Czech Republic.

I want to learn languages on my own, but it's so hard to be self-motivated!! I try to make myself study, but I usually don't end up doing it. Last summer I made myself all these impressive lists of French and Spanish vocabulary that I was going to learn, and what happened? The only thing the pages got used for was scribbling phone numbers on. :angelic:

I was thinking this too, and had decided that it was because Czech was too difficult to pronounce correctly. (There are a few consonant sounds that are impossible to produce unless you grew up doing them!) But considering they could do Bulgarian... I think they should give it a shot! Plus there is no more beautiful city to be a spy in than Prague! (Check out Mission Impossible!)

I have a question - Sydney and Vaughn didn't have accents in the Berlin Goth club, did they? They were kind of talking in a laid-back, casual kind of way (and Vaughn was chewing gum! :lol:smiley:, but I didn't hear any specific accents. I just wanted to make sure.

(Sydney's Southern/West Virginia on the phone call was the seventh time she's used that accent - by far the most-used one! Must be because it comes naturally to her and doesn't really need to be rehearsed.)

Somebody said Syd spoke Swedish; that was in 'Page 47'.  She asked to borrow some gas, if I remember correctly.

Yes, I'm swedish, she said: Ursäkta mig, skulle jag kunna få låna lite bensin?
Which in English is: Excuse me, can I borrow some gasoline?
Or something like that..

Does anyone speak any language besides English? what language(s)?

I speak Swedish, English and some French.

I speak french and english fluently but i know a few words in german and spanish nothing big...I can understand italian because it's similar to french but I can't speak it....lol i'm a dork

This is a wicked thread...love how you put down ewok...that was hilarious when he said it.
