Season 2 Are they married or not?

:woot: OK, this has bothered me a lot. During the past 2-3 episodes everyone's talked to Jack about his "ex-wife" . According to my memory, in the Abduction, Jack admits that "technically, we are still married until it is annulled"
SO, are they still married? If so, why is Jack not telling anyone, including Sydney.

Your comments on this.

I think technically they are still married unless jack had it annulled but I think we would have heard about that. I think that after Irina left he didnt want anyone to refer to her as his wife.

I thought they were married too. Maybe Jack doesn't want to admit that they are but isn't going to correct them. I don't know but I really did think they were still married.

they are still married unless we're not being told something.she hurt him again of course he doesn't want her referred to as his wife

Unless Jack got an anulment off screen, they are still married and Jack and Irina are the only ones who know about it.

Maybe Jack has begun the process of annullment now that Irina has escaped. I should think her escape would be the last straw for him. They're probably just keeping it offscreen, just as they did with Sydney's graduate school graduation and other things. I think that Jack's behavior toward Elsa shows how he feels about Irina.

Well, according to the gov't they're probably not married...because she's dead and that kinda annulls a marriage. However...to those of us who know she's alive they're still made.
That being said...I think Jack's dichotomizing Laura Bristow and Irina Derevko...and so asks that Irina not be referred to as his wife.

Not the IRS, they wouldnt care since the income tax form Jack filed would probably indicate the spouse was dead and he'd file as a single person. He didn't find out she was alive for a few years.

i think that thye are still marrited..i think that jack doesnt wanna let go of irina...despite what she did adn what he says he still got the hots for her...ew

I'd say that they are still in the same situation as they were when Jack explained what he discovered: that they are indeed technically married until he carries out annulment proceedings. However, as far as has been shown, he has not done so, and I think that this is an important plot point that should come up. Irina is referred to as his "ex-wife" because most people don't know about that exchange and probably don't even think about their legal status--they don't realize as we do that Jack has had extreme trouble letting her go. After all, wouldn't you naturally assume that someone who set up a woman for execution hated that woman? (You always hurt the one you love . . .)
;)

I think that Jack should annul the marriage and get on with his life. I should think that he now realizes that he and Irina have no future together. If she is ever caught, she goes on trial for 86 counts of espionage, 12 counts of murder, and whatever else the government can charge her with since her escape. She has now broken her immunity agreement in every way imaginable. In any case, she will not see the outside of a prison again. Jack needs someone else -- someone he can enjoy spending time with, someone he can love and who will love him back. I don't think he realizes how much he would benefit from that. I've said it before and I'll say it again -- I want to see Smiling Jack! 🐈

I totally disagree with you Ophelia.. but you already know that and you already know why. ;)

VH - WORD!

If ever these two were star-crossed lovers, they are.
BUT suppose, and this is my wild imagination in action, there is another reason! Something that only the writers can devise. :woot: Tune in to ABC April 27th for the next episode (as if any of you would miss it)
Plot points are so important in this series. Lots of little ones here and there.
There's more than meets the eye. (Even I sometimes have to watch an episode a couple of times to find them.) ;)

You always hurt the one you love is so true and in this case both have hurt each other. Maybe Irina thot after she was set up by Jack she could return the favor.

This is exactly why Jack needs to wash his hands of Irina. She brings out the worst in him. Talk about a destructive relationship! He needs a stable, loving influence in his life. Irina will never be able to provide that. 🐈

Yet, Ophelia, where is the excitement in that--and we know Jack is tied to Irina by Sydney. If he killed her or ordered her killed, what would Sydney actually feel? At this point, they simply want to catch her. Somehow that just might happen, but then not the cellblock, but put into Federal Prison. But then...maybe she won't be caught.
Oooh delicious, scrumptious family relationship and plots ahead.
