Armageddon?

Is the coming war with Iraq a sign of the end?

Is the EU going to be the New World Order?

To me, it seems as if the events happening in the world are lining up for the end. Now, I am not a Bible thumper, but I am interested in the prophecy of the Bible. Opinions? Arguements?

I'm not much if a bible thumper either, but this does spark my interest. I'm not sure how to react, in fact I'd never thought of this until you brought it up. Interesting...

I know the Bible kinda well, but I don't remember learning anything about a new power coming into place. Only the world coming to an end and Jesus coming back to earth

But, I don't think this is a sign of the end. It will be a short war becase the US has much more resources than Iraq. The only way the US will lose this is if Saddam is waaay smarter than we all thought, and he has made secret plans with several other countries. But I doubt that has happened. So there won't be that much destruction (hopefully).

And I don't see how the US will lose power in this.

The book of Revelation talks about a one world power. It is supposed to be the revived Roman empire. The Anti-christ is supposed to come out of that union and declare peace in the middle east. There is supposed to be 3 years of peace and then all hell breaks loose.

The reason I have been thinking about this is because the EU is pretty powerful. The EU is taling about electing one leader and the EU does not want God mentioned in thier constitution. With so many of the European countries protesting the war, is there going to be that one person that steps forward to bring peace?

In the Bible, Russia is supposed to side with the middle eastern countries and attack Isreal. So, is Sadaam smarter than we think? Russia is protesting this war. Hmmmm.

OMG this is depressing. You people sound like my father "This is the BIG one." But, did you guys here about the talking fish in NY. Apparently it started yelling apocolyptic warnings in hebrew.

If USA win the war, then America will probably be taken from power that it has over to the EU, therefore resulting in teh end of the world! did i start this off? in another thread?

Well, as a Catholic I put very little stock in Revelations. the official catholic position is that Revelations is nothing more than metaphorical language. It is an ancient explanation for the end of the world. Post-Jesus, his followers thought that the end of the world was really close. So John (or whoever wrote it) used metaphors to describe the return of Christ.

In short, I think that this horsemen, peace, new world order stuff is a bunch of baloney.

I am not saying that we should take Revelation literaly, to me it is just uncanny how everything is lining up.

That was a bit misleading. The Bible doesn't actually say that.

I agree with Jonathan. If you saw my post in the religion thread, we look at the Bible for religious truth.

I think the end of the world will come when we least expect it.

soz! Bible is my guide! i think Bush will end the world by beating Iraq and to normal people (everyone but me!) that will seem unexpected!

thampton20...have you been reading "Left Behind"? One of my favorite books...well favorite 10 books anyway...i don't know about all this jazz with the EU becoming the world power but if you look at post-war times throughout history a new world power emerges. first it was the league of nations, now we have the united nations...maybe after all of this with iraq is over we'll have something new. i don't think it'll be the EU as it is now b/c it's not global. i do think that revelation is meant to be taken more literally than a lot of people think. one of the first signs of the coming armegeddon is a prosperous israel so i guess when we see that we can start to worry or to rejoice...depending on your faith.

Kalan...Yes, I have read all of the Left Behind books that are out. I love them!

Anyway, there are currently 23 nations in the EU. They are adding new ones each year. The book of Daniel states that the last World power would be the revived Roman Empire. It the EU is not that then....I don't know. And the first sign of the world coming to an end is when Isreal becomes a nation. Jesus said this generation will not pass. Hmmm.. Isreal became a nation in 1967. A generation in the Bible is 51.2 years. You do the math and take a look at the headlines.

Remember, this is my opinion. My interperation.

It would be great if you could get exact quotes of the Bible, and what version it is. Because I never heard anything so specific in a Biblical prophecy.
