Books turned movie.

The only book I liked that was turned into a movie was LOTR...they turned the story into an incredible movie! I also loved the A & E version of Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth...that was awesome as well.

"Little Women" was a really well-done movie. Very faithful to the book. The only thing that bugged me was that the older Amy in the second half didn't really look like the younger Amy (Kirsten Dunst) in the first half. I sort of wish they could take Kirsten Dunst now (now that she's the right age) and make her film the scenes in the second half, and then digitally insert her into the movie! Lol.

I also thought "Sense and Sensibilty" was a good movie, but it wasn't completely faithful to the book. Has anyone seen "Emma" with Gwyneth Paltrow? Is it good? And also, the 1940's version of "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" is pretty good. I always cry during the scene when Francie gets the flowers and the note that her dad wrote for her graduation before he died.

i agree, little women was a pretty well done movie. i've always had something against the character of amy though (in the book and in the movie), so yeah, it bugged me that young amy and older amy looked nothing alike. it was just funny that she changed and no one else did... but other than that, it was pretty good.

as for sense and sensibility, i LOVED that movie. you're right, it wasn't entirely faithful to the book, but i still felt that it was a great adaptation. and the gwyneth paltrow version of emma is fantastic!! it's one of my favorite movies. obviously, it's also not entirely faithful to the book but it was still a faithful adaptation and i really enjoyed it. well, that and i really like gwyneth paltrow and jeremy northam. :D

i didnt know that there was a movie to a tree grows in brooklyn! i loved the book, so sad but extremely good, it was in the 1940s, okay, must go and rent it, hopefully they have it!lol

My personal opinion would have to be the books...first, i'm a bookaholic, so people my just assume that i like the books better. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love movies and the visual picture that you get when you watch them...but a book gives you a better understanding of characters feelings and actions and why they do the things that they do...plus, even if you don't have a movie, you could always create your own picture in your head while reading a book...so, as i said before...i'd go with the books more than the movies.

i think that books are generally better than the movies but with LOTR the movies were absolutely fantastic! i cant wait to c ROTK when it comes out.
in films like bridget jones's diary they cut so much out of it it just didnt seem like the same thing. and i dont think she came out the way the book made her seem.
i have never watched the movie of the princess diaries cause i dont want to spoil my visualisation of it and my friends have siad that they have changed it alot.
i thought that minority report was originally a short story by some well respected science fiction writer. i havent read the book but i think that the movie was good.
overall i prefer the book to the adapted version (whether to tv, stage or film).

but then again i am a book freak

usually the books are better, except for LOTR i hadn't read the book yet, and i liked the character PJ picked *cough* Legolas and aragorn and so that was one time it was good to see the movie first

I think it really depends on the book. Some books to movies are good, but some they leave out interesting parts or just did not make the movie right

keep them as books...the movies always suck...except LOTR...but even Hary Potter...the movies juts didnt give the movie justice...and it ruined my whole vision of the book!

Keep them as books. I was soooo disappointed with Bridget Jones that I felt broken hearted! And even though the LotR is a superb movie, it still hasn't (in my eyes) lived up to an amazing book. Movies just can't live up to books.

Books are just so much better. I've seen some okay book-turned-movies, but the book is still always better. There's just so much in a book that can't be included in a movie.
