But what now?

Alias has changed. The plot has shifted.

I'm very worried about the future of Alias. It may have taken a turn for the worst.

What do you think?

well, you know, they DID say it was "a new beginning."

but yes, i totally feel what you're saying. i'm feeling very ambivalent about it. on the one hand, wow, what an amazing episode. but on the other, what in the world are they going to do now?! phase one really felt like the end of alias. so...i don't know.

someone say something positive to lift our spirits!

I'm sad the double agent side is gone......I really liked it. Guess they will be fighting Sark & Sloane now.

Please Alias, please stay as good as you've been!

I had very mixed emotions at the end of the show-- I loved it, but at the same time I hated it. Everything that we knew and depended on changed in a mind-blurring hour of one shock after another.

As I try hard not to read spoilers, I was absolutely stunned at the end of the episode-- the Alliance has been destroyed! It seems that Sydney's mission has been accomplished...but has it really? Our Alias journey has made a sharp and unexpected turn, but JJ and the writers of Alias have not let us down so far--Alias has just gotten better since the pilot, and the writers have proven themselves in their loyalty to the integrity of the heart of the show.

Yes, the plot has had a dramatic shift, and the premise has changed. But with such a fast-paced show, you have to keep it moving before things get stale. They have left so many roads open to take--I'll admit that I don't know how they will keep it fresh every week now, while still staying true to the Alias we know and love, but all I can do is have faith in the talent that's behind it, and trust that they won't let us down. It'll all be okay-- this is not the end, but an exciting new beginning!

I agree, something just did not feel right about tonight's episode. Too much happened, and yes it was quite exciting, but it seemed rushed. I am an avid Alias fan, and I would go to the ends of the earth for this show, I just hope that the writers don't mess with the format too much. I have to tell you, I love the beginning of each episode with the intro, it was missing tonight as was the theme song. Now the writers have obliterated SD-6, the alliance, and Francie. I am just scared for the future of this fabulous (an understatement) show.

It felt like a season finale, didn't it? It could easily have been the season finale for this season. And if it hadn't been for that final cliffhanger, it could easily have been a SERIES finale.

I'm just thinking about what my reaction would be if this hadn't been the Superbowl episode; if this was just a normal Sunday night with nothing special about it. And the truth is, I would be even more shocked than I am right now if that was the case. Which makes me wonder, to what extent was this episode really made to cater to a new audience? If Alias' ratings had always been high, would the show have taken this turn? I doubt it. And that worries me. In commercial television, artistic integrity is so often sacrificed to the ratings god. I SINCERELY hope that JJ Abrams and company won't let that happen, and I think they would fight very hard against it.

From the quality of the show we've seen in the past, I think it's safe to say that things will keep being exciting and interesting. Yes, it will be different, but I think they can make it work. But I will still miss the old Alias. It's like graduating from high school; exciting and new, but at the same time you want everything to stay the same. :(

I can understand everyone's point of view, but I think we're gonna go on another fun ride since Alias has now taken on a brand new Alias. I think JJ and the crew are gonna keep the integrity of the show that has brought them this far and so many hardcore fans.

I think flames has the idea.
Even though we feel like alias is going into down fall it will probally just keep getting better. I have no doubts the jj abrams and the crew will not let us down.

NO! TAKE IT BACK! Never can alias take a turn for the WORSE! Alias can only get better!!! Its law or somthing..... lol well neways ALIAS will not get worse but it will change and Im going to have to spend FOREVER trying to figure out whats going on again but hey! I'll live! I'll do it for Alias!!

:woot: ~**Kate**~ :woot:

I'm torn. I was so happy that the Alliance was gone, but then it kinda sunk in:
"What's going to happen now?"

The whole excitement of the show was the fact that she was a double agent, she COULD get caught, she had countermissions and meetings with her Handler (MmMmMmMmMmm....) and all that fun stuff. Now what's she going to do? I'm sure J.J. will find something brilliant yet obvious, that no one will have thought of, but I must find out. I am very glad I didn't read any spoilers for last night's episode, it would have ruined the shock.

Just wondering something here. Was anyone else thinking that the writers were thinking, "How many more episodes can we have the CIA stealing the Alliance's stuff before Sloane figures it out?" I mean, every time Sydney goes off somewhere to do SD-6's dirty work, she somehow "botches the job." I kept waiting for her to get caught.

Anybody else think this?

I had that very same thought about a week ago. You think Sloane would have noticed it all started going downhill when Danny was killed. I thought the CIA should have had Syd complete some SD-6 missions to throw Sloane off. Then I remembered, not all her missions were failures. Sometimes the CIA just received a copy of whatever SD-6 obtained. But still.......

I loved the episode, but I was very disappointed with it. Taking down SD-6 and the Alliance was Sydney's number one goal, and now it has ended. And to new viewers, it means nothing.

All I can say is I hope all goes well.

i completly agree with you AliasAlias because i mean when they were taking the alliance down i was all excited and jumping up and down, but new viewers probably did nothing but try to take in the information of the world. they never got the chance to see why she hates sloane sooo much(and why I do!) i am alittle disappointed about the whole double agent thing but i also see the point of sloane never finding out(i loved how he knew for a while!!!nice twist!!) i m excited to see what phase 2 is and what it has in store for sydney and being that sd-6 is gone that means more time with her favorite cia agent!!!(thats a major plus) i hope jj brings back the main title and gets rid of the soap opera middle(youre in the middle of alias, stay tuned, too cheesy for me!) but i think the plots are getting more intriguing and i wonder when we are ever going to find out more about rambaldi

It will be interesting to see how everything plays out.

I mean there are so many things - Dixon, Marshall, etc.

The framework of Alias has shifted.

After getting some sleep I have more confidence that JJ and the rest of the crew & cast will be able to pull it off - and, as others have said, if they kept the old system, it would get old and stale after awhile.

But we are lucky - what if this had been the end of Season 2 instead? That would've been horrible!

Ur freaking me out Charlie!!!!! I don't want to think about it!!!!!!!!!! I just want to watch Vaughn and Syd kiss over and over and over again!!!!!!! LOL!! I think they went a little overboard with the whole lingerie (? is that spelled right) buisness!! :redhair:

The framework has reeeeaaaallly shifted but there is still a bad org. I think syd will now try to take that down. I reaaly think it will be good. that is everything except fran dying and her evil twin taking over
