Season 2 CIA stupidity

I think if the CIA heads would have stopped to THINK about it...

Sloane knows Irena Derevko, THE MAN... would never SELL anything rambaldi. The person who raided sd-6 to get a little jar of rambadli liquid, the person who, at every turn, sent a goon to stop sloane from getting rambaldi gear.. etc etc.

So, why did the CIA believe that sloane would arrange this meeting? If sloane hadn't been in league with irena, he would have surely smelled a rat.

I think the CIA shoulda seen something was up... if nothing else someone shoulda brought up.. "hey ya know that guy that does all sloane's bidding... he worked for derevko."

Well, remember the first season, when they used a fake container of Rambaldi liquid to lure Sark or whoever out, kind of like a rat, or something. I guess they were just hoping Sloane would do the same.

But maybe Sloane could've been thinking that 'the man' had turned, and would really want whatever it was. Now more than ever, he's willing to do a lot of things to get to the Rambaldi device, so now that the Alliance is gone, he doesn't have to worry about being reprimanded for it if the meeting did go awry.

Maybe I'm just not making any sense.

More slight of hand by the writers. Irina is The Man who has never offered her Rambaldi artifacts to anyone. Sark said he had assumed her assets, but never to our knowledge gave them to Sloane. Why? Because he didn't know. CIA never asked her about them either, being too eager to get rid of SD-6 and The Alliance. Irina worked with them to get these two entities off her back so she could pursue her own agenda. Tsk, tsk, CIA.
