i love reading the great classics! i really want to read jane erye but i havent gotten it yet! and i also want to read pride and prejudice really bad too!
i loved the scarlett letter which many ppl i know dont like but i loved it, i love nathaniel hawthorne.
what are your favorite classics?

oh yes, pride and prejudice and jane eyre are great books!! pride and prejudice is one of my favorite books actually. you've read bridget jones right? well, p&p is what bridget jones was based on. so if you liked bridget, you'll love p&p!! funny how those two are my favorite books of all time, isn't it?

hmm...let's see, what else. i really enjoyed john steinbeck's grapes of wrath and edith wharton's ethan frome and betty smith's a tree grows in brooklyn. ooh, and to kill a mockingbird was great too!! i found lord of the flies to be pretty amusing, even though i know it wasn't meant to be. and some of my favorite plays were the odyssey, lysistrata, and cyrano de bergerac. :D

i have not read those but most classics bore me (i really hated the pearl and the red poney but the i did like the steinbeck book with lenny and george-what is it called i forgot) i liked catcher in the rye if u call iit a classic

that is what it was called my teacher has read it with classes over 10 times and she cries every time in the end (and she does this great voice for lenny even better than the movie)

i loved a tree grows in brooklyn very good and to kill a mocking bird was great as well and cyrano, i loved the nose monolgue!lol!!
and p&p, do you know who it is by, bc i will have to read that, bc yes i did read bridgets and liked it alot, i love those diary type books!

of mice and men is the one with lenny and george. i liked that one too.
I named my stapler after him! (Lenny, though he isn't at all like that character, and in the book, I think they spell it Lennie) and my imaginary friend's name is George thoguh when I named him, I hadn't read the book...

I like Little Women, I've loved that book since i was like eight, and then Little Men, and let's see, what else? Emma was pretty good, so was Jane Erye...oh yeah, I really really want to read Vanity Fair, but I haven't had the chance to yet.

i loved little women and black beauty and little princess( i loved that book and the movie turned out good as well!) childrens classics are the best, stuart little too! oh and the wind and the willows!!

Hey, it seems like people here have really good taste! I'm so glad to know that other people like good books, too. My all-time favorite classics are...

All 6 Jane Austen novels
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn
The Heart is a Lonely Hunter (Carson McCullers)
Of Human Bondage (W. Somerset Maugham)
To The Lighthouse and Mrs. Dalloway (Virginia Woolf)
The House of Mirth & The Age of Innocence (Edith Wharton)
The Grapes of Wrath (John Steinbeck)
An American Tragedy (Theodore Dreiser)
Main Street (Sinclair Lewis)
The Magic Mountain (Thomas Mann)

There are tons more I could put, but those are my favorites. Practically all I read is classics, though. I guess I'm kind of a "book snob". Lol. I do like Anne Tyler, Louise Erdrich, Alice Munro, and Sandra Cisneros, though.

Wow...it took me a while to find this thread, but I'd love to post my favorites. Classics are something I always love...it's something about literature for me!
Pride and Prejudice
A Tale of Two Cities
The Scarlet Letter (I was the only one in my class who liked it!)
Great Expectations (ok maybe all Charles Dickens books!)
The Count of Monte Cristo (my all time favorite)

To Kill a Mockingbird was pretty good too
Sense and Sensiblity (I saw the movie too, and I want to read it now!)
And I'm sure I'll think of more!

i was the only one in my class that liked scarlett letter too!LOL! everyone hated the way in which he wrote but i loved it, im a sucker for wordy sentences and symbolism and that is hawthorne, one of my favorite authors!

I love the wording, because I love to think while I read. That's why Dickens is incredible. Paragraph long sentences are so much fun to interpret!
No wait stop me now. I sound really crazy!
