Chapter 5

Sydney didn’t know what to say. Was she really at Vaughn’s house? Oh my gosh! This is definitely a first.

“You lied to me,” Syd said with a mysterious grin on her face.

A confused Vaughn replied (with wrinkles on his forehead), “What do you mean?”

“You said the surprise wasn’t going to be that big or that wonderful. You’d lied…. It’s perfect.” With that Sydney kissed Vaughn on his lips, then hugged him around his neck, allowing him to breathe in her sweet scent he loved all too much. Sydney and Vaughn got out of the car and Vaughn reached into the back seat for one of the boxes.

“So, what’s exactly in the boxes? I’m a spy… I hate secrets,” said Sydney, hoping Vaughn would finally clue her in.

“That’s still a need-to-know thing. You’ll find out as soon as we get in the house.” Vaughn grabbed his key from his pocket while strategically balancing the box in his other arm. He opened the door and let Sydney go in. As they walked in he set the box down on the floor near his kitchen counter.

“Vaughn, what is this? Are you kidding me?” Sydney did not know what to think of Vaughn’s place. It seemed so…familiar.

“What do you mean?” Vaughn said with a silly grin on his face, knowing exactly what Sydney meant.

“Your place is the spitting image of mine,” she said.

“I know. There are a few differences. I have one less bedroom and a bigger bathroom. Oh, and my kitchen has an island, whereas yours doesn’t,” replied Vaughn. He reached over and grabbed the box, placing it on the kitchen table.

“Syd, come here,” he said as sweetly as possible, grabbing her waist as she stood next to him. “Open it.”

Sydney opened the box and found …clothes? “I don’t understand,” she said. “These are all of my clothes.”

“I know. That’s the point. I feel so comfortable at your place because it reminds me of my own. After we’d met, I found out where you lived. The CIA has records for everything. Your apartment is one of many in your complex. I set up a visit with the owner to view one of the other places, one floor above yours. I asked the owner which apartment was the biggest. He told me that they were all identical. So then I’d found out what your place looked like.”

“I’m still really confused.”

“After I broke up with Alice, I decided to move somewhere else, you know, to start over. I found a few places around here, but then I knew this was the place when I looked inside. It reminded me of the apartment I’d seen above yours. I knew it was more than coincidence, so I moved in here.”

Sydney didn’t know what to say. “You live here because it reminds you of me?” she asked.

“Yes. You know I’ve…had feelings for you for a long time. This place just kept me close to you when I couldn’t actually have you.”

“So what are you doing with all of my clothes?” Syd said, still overwhelmed with Vaughn’s news.

“I asked you today if I could move the rest of my clothes into your drawers. You said yes. But, I wanted the rest of the surprise to be…well…I want you to move your clothes in here. I want us to live at my place once we’re married.”

Sydney was speechless. All she could do was hug her husband-to-be and give him a nice, warm kiss. She was so excited, as was he. :blush: :P

Chapter 6

The next morning (at Vaughn’s place) Syd awoke to an empty bed. She knew that Vaughn couldn’t be far, though. It’s not like he had to go to work or anything. She got out of bed and put her silk robe on. It was a little chilly at Vaughn’s apartment being that he lived so close to the beach and the ocean breeze overtook his home. Sydney walked out into the living room but could not find Vaughn anywhere. She looked out the window and saw that Vaughn’s car was gone. Sydney wasn’t sure where he was but she didn’t want to just sit there and worry about him. She picked up the phone and called Vaughn’s cell. Obviously Vaughn knew it was Syd calling because cell phones have caller ID.

“Hi Syd. I hope you slept well,” Vaughn said.

“Yes but –.” Sydney was interrupted by Vaughn and could not finish her sentence.

“Don’t ask any questions. And don’t worry I’m safe. I left you a note on the fridge. Call me later.” With that Vaughn hung up the phone, leaving Sydney very confused, and very curious.

She walked into the kitchen and took the note off of the refrigerator. It was enclosed in an envelope with “Syd” written on the front. She could smell Vaughn’s cologne on the envelope. She opened it and read the note.

Good morning Mrs. Vaughn-to-be.
I take it you slept well. Today we are going to enjoy ourselves. I promised you a special day yesterday, but we obviously got sidetracked. Go put on your swimsuit and meet me at the restaurant on the corner of Sunrise and Sunset. Don’t take too long. I’ll see you there at noon.

Always,
Michael

Sydney looked at the clock and saw that it was already 11:00am. She’d slept longer than she ever had since working for the CIA. She quickly freshened up and got out her swimsuits. She could not choose which one to put on until she remembered that Vaughn liked her turquoise one she’d worn when saving Neil Caplan. She slipped her suit on as well as some sunscreen. She Put some pants and a T-shirt over her suit and left the house. Since Vaughn had taken the car and Sydney’s was still at the warehouse she would have to walk. Luckily Vaughn had chosen a spot to meet that was only a block or so away from his place. Sydney knew exactly where it was. She and Vaughn used to meet there sometimes as “runners” when they needed to discuss an SD-6 mission or something.

Sydney arrived at 11:45, early because she was excited for what the day had in store. Sydney was waiting for a minute or so when her phone began ringing.

“Hello,” she said.

“The bulletin board behind you has instructions.”

“Sydney knew it was Vaughn. She could never forget the sound of his voice. She went to the bulletin board at the corner where most people posted job listings and apartment openings. She saw an envelope identical to the one Vaughn had left her note at the house in. It, too, said Syd on the front. She opened the envelope and there was another note inside. She read it as follows:

Hello again Mrs. Vaughn. Turn around. On the beach you will see a blue and white striped umbrella with a man sitting in a chair underneath it. Approach him carefully and you will have found your treasure.

* * *

Sydney saw the umbrella mentioned and ran over to it. She could see that it was Vaughn sitting in the chair and she wrapped her arms around him from behind and kissed his neck. He quickly turned around, not frightened at all. With a short but sweet joining of their lips, they sat in each other’s arms, enjoying this rare moment.

Vaughn stood up from the chair and sat Sydney down in it instead. He knelt at her knees and kissed Sydney again. This kiss, however, was longer than the first but just as enjoyable.

“Hello Mrs. Vaughn. Are you ready for a delightful day with Mr. Vaughn?” Vaughn asked sweetly while holding Sydney’s hands.

“Of course I am Mr. Vaughn. So… What shall we do today?” :cool:

Thanks to those of you who are reviewing. I appreciate it very much. Here's the next chapter. There will be some action coming up, but never too little S/V fluff! ^_^

Chapter 7

“Hello Mrs. Vaughn. Are you ready for a delightful day with Mr. Vaughn?” Vaughn asked sweetly while holding Sydney’s hands.

“Of course I am Mr. Vaughn. So… What shall we do today?”

* * *

Sydney stood up from the chair and let Vaughn sit down. She then sat on his lap while her put his arms around her. He was wearing his swim trunks but had clothes over the top just as Sydney did. After a few minutes of just sitting staring and the incoming waves Vaughn broke the silence.

“Syd, do you want to go for a swim with me?” he asked.

“I thought you’d never ask. I’d love to,” she said turning around to face Vaughn and give him a kiss.

They both stood up and began taking off their jeans and T-shirts to reveal their swimsuits. Vaughn looked at Sydney with happy amazement.

“You…you wore the turquoise one.”

“Of course. I knew it was your favorite.”

Vaughn just smiled and wrapped his arms around Sydney’s waist. He quickly picked her up and began carrying her to the water. They swam together the entire day, neither of them letting go of the other. Syd and Vaughn were so happy together. They knew it was meant to be.

* * *

Soon the sun began to set and Syd and Vaughn returned to the sand where their umbrella was set up. Vaughn took the umbrella down and folded up the chair. Sydney noticed that there was a big bag sitting next to where the chair had been.

“What’s in the bag?” she asked.

Without answering her question Vaughn simply opened the bag. He reached in and took out a larger blanket, perfect for them to sit on. He just looked at Syd with a mischievous grin on his face. He then reached into the bag and pulled out a bottle of wine. He sat down, grabbed Sydney’s hand, and gently pulled her onto the blanket with him.

“What’s all this?” Syd asked with excitement.

“We are going to sit together, just the two of us, and watch the sun set. I want to be alone with you and no one else.”

Vaughn wrapped himself around Sydney again, who was still wet. He didn’t mind the dampness, for he was with his one true love. They sat on the shore, drinking wine, and watching the sunset. When the sun was completely gone, Vaughn and Syd laid down staring up at the stars, still in each other’s arms.

* * *

Sydney woke up a bit confused. Where was she? She knew she was with Vaughn, but…oh, they were still at the beach. They had fallen asleep together and spent the night at the beach. The morning breeze made Sydney shiver, only until she noticed Vaughn had woken up as well. He wrapped his arms around her even more tightly than before. She didn’t notice the breeze anymore. Vaughn always made her comfortable.

“Good morning Syd,” said Vaughn. He then leaned over and gave Sydney a short, sweet kiss.

Sydney replied with a grin, “Good morning Michael.” :P

The action will hopefully come next chapter. The fluff will still be there though. I hope you liked this chapter. Please R/R!
