I was bored today so I decided to watch my DVD of Cruel Intentions again. I hadn't watched it in about a year so I had forgotten a little bit of what happened. I have to see, even though it was probably the fifth time I had seen the movie, I was still amazed when it ended. The cleverness, how it goes from being comical to intensely dramatic and vice versa. Many people criticize this movie because they say that when Sebastian falls in love, the story and movie goes downhill. I could not disagree more. I think this movie shows that people can change and that love can transform a person. It shows that what goes around comes around and if you do not have love in your life, you are a broken person. I also think it's amazing that the producers made such a beautiful and visually lush movie with a mere $10 million budget. It's kind of sad to think that this movie is out of most people's minds now because it is 4 years old, but I personally think it is a piece of cinematic art that should be remembered for years to come. I know this is high praise for a movie about a pair sexually manipulative teenagers, but that is how much it touched me.
