Dark thoughts

“Sark!” was all that Sydney could muster. Everyone in the room was silent, expecting a rant directed towards Sark, Kendall, and anyone else who was in Sydneys line of fire, that did not come.

Sydney had had it, she knew that Kendall would provide her with what he though was a logical explanation for Sark’s being there, but she was over it. All she wanted to do was fall into Vaughn’s strong, comforting arms, and let him hold her. There was just one problem, Vaughn wasn’t there.

“Sydney,” said Kendall with an air of exhaustion to his voice, “Has Agent Vaughn contacted you in any way?”

“Wa…what’s going on?” Sydney was suddenly focused. For the first time in long time, she had snapped herself out of deep thought.

“Ah, so glad of you to ask Ms. Bristow.” Sydney couldn’t even bare to make herself look at the thing that was Sark, she was certain he knew where Vaughn was.

“No, Ms. Bristow, contrary to what you are thinking, I do not know where Agent Vaughn is, buuuut…I might be able to offer you some assistance should you be willing to accept it.” Sydney was so repulsed she was shaking. Normally, Vaughn would notice and wrap his knowing arms around her, but he wasn’t there. The one person that could get Sydney through this ordeal was the one person that was the cause of it.

All eyes were on Sydney as she mustered the words that made her physically sick as they touched her tongue, “Alright Sark, tell us everything”.

Here is the next part! Hope you like!

“Sydney, its not that simple.” Jack replied in his normal cold, stone faced tone. “ Mr. Sark has requested something that we don’t know if we can give him.” Jack seemed flustered, something that in itself greatly disturbed Sydney. There were only two things that could shake Jack, Sydneys well being, and….Irena”.

Everyone in the room was gravely silent, Sydney knew that whatever Sark had planned for her was a task that she was not going to want to full fill. But, then she remembered all of times that Vaughn had risked his job, even his life for her. Even if Vaughn was here, safe within Sydneys reach, today, he would be in another room, possibly a cell, being interrogated for trying to look after Sydneys well being. *All of this* she thought, *is because of my mother. If she had never strolled into this building, everything would be……….*

“Sydney, Sydney wake up!” She had done it again, Sydney had gotten lost in deep thought. This time though, she couldn’t afford it.

“Ms. Bristow, we need your full attention for this matter.” Kendall, of course, felt no sympathy towards her, and he never would.

“What is it, what do I need to do?” Sydney braced herself for the worst, but she couldn’t have ever imagined the news that Sark was about to give her.

“Your mother…….”

“Your mother might… have mentioned something to me about Agent Vaughn’s whereabouts.” As Sark was speaking with an all-knowing, cocky smile on his face, Sydney wanted to throw herself on him and make him tell her everything. She hated the air he had about him, it was like he genuinely thought that Sydney wanted to be with him.

*Why cant he just die!* Sydney thought, *he knows something, and just wants to push me until I get on my hands and knees and beg.*

Sark, as well as Sydney knew this would never happen, but both wanted to push the other one to his/her limit.

“Sark! you SOB, what the hell have you done with Vaughn! I swear that if you don’t tell me right now, I will make you pay, and if you get away, I promise that I will hunt you until one…. of us dies.” Sydney was once again shaking and was on the verge of tears, but no one knew but her, on the outside she was stone faced and had a look in her eyes that hadn’t appeared since the day that she found out her mother had betrayed her. Although Sydney had made several similar threats to Sark before, everyone knew that she was deathly serious.

“Now Sydney, calm down, you know as well as I do that things will not work out if conditions do not improve.” Sark was cool and confident as he said this, it took all that Sydney had left in her not to kill him, right there on the spot.

“Are you ready to listen?” Sark was now serious, and Sydney was ready.

“ After your mother left she knew how much her leaving would hurt you, and knew that, due to the… situation you would never talk to her again. Unless she had the one thing that you would never be able to replace, or discard due to her.” Sark had a slight grin on his face, but quickly wiped it away when he saw Sydney’s face.

“She has Vaughn.” Sydney said this stone faced and unemotional, she knew that she had to stay strong, for Vaughn.

So does this mean Irina is going to hold him until Sydney talks to her? What does Irina want to get out of this? What is Vaughn thinking through all of this? Does he want Sydney to save him, or does he want her to stay away for her own safety?
Good plot so far, hope you add more soon!

Next part!

There were so many questions running through Sydneys mind, that it took all she had just to sort through them.

*Ok, Syd you can do this, just think about Vaughn. God! I should never have trusted her! If I would have never gone and spoken with her, then she would have never known about me and Vaughn, oh god! What am I going to do!*

Just as Sydney was about to lose herself in thought again she was interrupted by Sark, who delivered the words that Sydney was partly dreading, but also deep inside, she longed to hear.

“You know Sydney, you mother really loves you.” Sark almost grimaced as he said the words, but before he could counter with an explanation Jack interrupted.

“There will be no more talk about Derevko unless it is absolutely necessary! Do you understand Mr. Sark?” As Jack said the words, he looked almost nervous, his eyes darted from Sydney to Sark as if to dare either one of them to counter his outburst. Sark looked at Jack with a knowing gleam in his eyes, he knew.

*I should have known* thought Jack, *I should have known that I was just a pawn, I should never have trusted her. It doesn’t matter now though, because when I get my hands on her….*

Sydney squeezed her fathers arm, deep inside, she also knew. “Sorry to interrupt, but may I have the pleasure of continuing?” Sark said, rolling his eyes at the scene between Jack and Sydney.

“Tell us Sark, tell us everything.” Sydney was growing impatient she had only known Vaughn was missing for a couple of hours, but it seemed like days, she wanted to find him, and she wanted to find him now.

“As I was saying, Irena has Vaughn. Mind you, he’s safe for now, but unless Sydney agrees to come with me and talk with her mother (Sark emphasized the word mother with obvious delight in his voice) than things might turn out differently.”

‘Why does…. That woman, want to talk with me, and why the hell has she brought Vaughn into it?” Sydney
was ready for strait answers that she knew she was not going to receive.

“Sydney, you mother knows you, and like I explained before, she knows what it will take to have a little…..chat about your…..relationship with you.”

“Now,” Sydney stated forcing the words out of her throat, ”I am ready to go now”.

“Sydney, you know it’s not that simple,” replied Jack, in a calm and complacent tone. Sydney was furious! Wasn’t any one in the room worried about Vaughn, besides herself? Why did she seem to be the only one in a room full of senior agents that had any common sense?

“What do you mean its not that simple? If I don’t go with Sark, then Vaughn will die! Can’t any of you see that?”
Once again, Sydney was shaking, but when Jack tried to squeeze her arm as she had squeezed his, she pulled away.

“Why am I your only concern! I am no more or less important than Agent Vaughn is to this agency!” Sydney was now out of her seat, and steadily walking towards the door.

“Ms. Bristow, come back this instance! We don’t know if this is for real, what if it’s all a hoax? What if you mother just wants to get you alone? We both know what she is…..”

“Stop it!” Sydney was now yelling, “don’t you see!” With that, Sydney stormed out of the room, motioning Sark to follow her. As Sark coolly got out of his seat, no one noticed him touch the small device that was hidden on his belt….

“Sydney…” Kendall was furious, but before he could continue he was interrupted, “Just let her go Kendall, we both know that if she wants to go, we can’t stop her.” Both men knew that Jacks words were true, but both also knew that Sark was most likely lying.

As Sydney approached the shiny black car that she instinctively knew was meant for her, she was stopped dead in her tracks. Instead of being motioned to the vehicle by Sark, she was grabbed from behind, and the last thing that she saw was….. Sloane.
