Die or try to survive?

If you woke up one day, and a zombie apocalypse was going on and half the population was wiped out, would you shoot yourself in the head? Or would you try to survive, with the chance that you get eaten by zombies?

I would try to survive! Ain't no zombie going to eat me!

I'd want to survive with my family, plus I don't think the ZA would be as bad as it as most movies and TV shows make it out to be. Plus I have plenty of guns and places to go with my family to survive.

I think it's human instinct to survive if one suddenly woke up one day after waking up and suddenly greeted with a ZA . If I threw an object at you your first instinct would be to protect yourself and cover the area that object was direct at, same principle applies if you woke up to a ZA, you would instinctively try to survive. Probably the only time i think anyone would consider shooting themselves is if they had enough and this apocalypse had been ongoing.

What would be my choice? Try to survive but first I would need my daily dose of bacon.

Too much military training in me to just wake up... see it going on, and shoot myself.

I'd start finding a group of survivors, make my way to find my son, etc. I wouldn't give up for an instant.

I'd live, or fight to live, regardless. Its human nature to want to live. Too much of a competitive drive in me, struggles always make you stronger as a person, gives you character. You learn more about yourself in difficult times like that than you do day to day. I'd thrive in the situation, I have no doubts.

Well, I don't think a ZA would just happen over night. But I would fight to survive. I'm completely paranoid anyway, and keep my house stocked with food, supplies and water. Among other things. Although, living in hurricane central, sometimes those things come in handy. I live by a farm (actually many farms) in the middle of nowhere. But still close enough that we could do supply runs if need. And I have my compound bow, and new crossbow. I personally don't have guns in my home, but I have access to a arsenal that is my dad (who lives 45 feet from me) and my brothers (who is less than a mile). Plus gasoline reserves in my dads mechanic shop. I feel I could make do. And I would try. I've had a Zombie Apocalypse plan since I was 15, although it has changed over the years.

Really good question, for me it would depend on what state my family (mainly my girlfriend) were in. If they were dead then I would kill myself but if they were alive I would keep fighting for them.

With that thought in mind, how do you think the zombie apocalypse would play out in real life? Do you think it would be able to be contained once people realized what was going on or would whole territories be lost (like in the movie "Doomsday")?
