Prologue
To most people, this would be an ordinary day. The sun was shining brightly in the Los Angeles sky. Most people would have enjoyed going to work today. Ryan was not one of those people. He was caught up in a game of ‘take what you want, kill the enemy, and lie to anyone you care about.’ He was caught up in the game of espionage. His friends could never know what he did. Well, what he really did. As far as they were concerned, he was an overworked real estate agents. In truth, he was an agent, but no real estate agent. If they found out what he really did, his boss would kill them. This man, Ryan’s boss, Adam Sanderez, was evil. You would think that this man was brainwashed with thoughts of predictions, and prophets, and life, and death, and an obsession of the mind, and how it works. This prophet, the one he was brainwashed into following, was named Leo Ambedel. He lived hundreds of years ago, and thought to be a descendent of Milo Rambaldi. Adam Sanderez was a man who wanted power among his peers. He was part of an alliance, one that was against the United States. Ryan works for this man, doing his bidding. Unknown to Sanderez, however, Ryan was a double agent working with the CIA. He was working to bring this alliance down. His handler was a woman named Abby Rollins. She was beautiful, in every man’s eyes. Oddly enough, this is what kept him going, Abby, knowing that he would have the chance to see her. He had become close friends with her, even having feelings of something more than friendship. If asked, he would deny that they were loving feelings. He had to, for fear of reassignment. If he were to become ‘emotionally involved’, he would be reassigned. It was against protocol for him to care about her. He couldn’t bare to have another handler, they worked well together. Even to his friends, he would deny it. Thoughts of his last girlfriend kept him from admitting it, even to himself. Never would you hear him say he loved her. Love was what he thought he had felt for his last girlfriend, Candace. If it wasn’t love he had felt, then what was it? Even after two months, the thought puzzled him, and he was supposed to be almost a genius. At least, that is what his I.Q. scores said. He never spoke to Abby about it. He couldn’t. It was to hard, for both of them. Even with the closeness of their friendship, there were things that couldn’t be said. He cared to much about her to hurt her. He kept hope, though, that one day he would be able to be with her. He had heard stories of the great Sydney Bristow and her handler, Michael Vaughn. He had heard stories of how much they cared for each other and how that was what kept them going. To him, it was hard for him to believe that someone could go through that much pain. It was even harder to believe that these people were his parents. He was going through exactly the same thing that his own mother did. Knowing that she had gotten through all of is gave him hope to look forward to the future, a future with Abby. Like I said before, most people think that today is an ordinary day, but for Ryan, anything could happen.
