Chapter 1
“Wake up, honey. We’re going to be late for work.”
“Hmm?”
“Wake up, we’re going to be late, Ryan, and if your grandfather will flip!”
“Flip? Who actually says that?”
“Me! Now get up!”
“Abby….”
“What? C’mon. Get up!” Abby says before she kisses him. It’s a soft kiss but Ryan deepens it.
“Ryan, “ Abby says after breaking the kiss, “I’ll make you a deal. You get up now, when we get home, I’ll show you something every good boy shouldn’t live without,” She finishes in a low seductive voice.

Ryan sits up, breathing heavy.
“Woah, definitely can’t any more of those …..” Ryan gets up, facing the edge of his bed, but still sitting down, and taking notice that no one is in bed with him. Good, he thinks I didn’t do anything that would get me killed. But it was a good dream. Ryan turns and glances at the clock. 7:45. He has to leave in 15 minutes. He scurries out of bed and into the bathroom. He is dressed and leaving 20 minutes later. He was already late. This wasn’t going to be a good day. He was going to be late for everything. He rushed to work. Going over the speed limit helped to gain him some time. Luckily for him, Sanderez was late, too. He hadn’t missed the start of his meeting.
“Good Morning, Ryan, “ His partner, Kelly said.
“Good Morning.” Ryan and Kelly were friends, but she wasn’t someone he would think about dating. Abby was the only woman he had eyes for.
“Is everyone present? Good. Let’s get started.” Everyone scattered from their small conversations and sat down.
“We have acquired intel shows us that an Ambedel artifact is located in a safe in the home of Andrew Lioni. He is having a party on Saturday. Ryan, Kelly, you will attend. You will retrieve it and return here with it that night.”
“Where is it?” Kelly asked.
“Rome, Italy. Your plane leaves in two hours.” Ryan casually got up and left the building when the meeting was over. He had to hurry to make his dead drop and meet Abby.
He reached the drop point and deposited the “trash.” Forty-five minutes later, the phone rang.
“Hello?”
“Hi, son, where are you?” a familiar voice asked.
“Oh, hi, mom. I’m at home, packing to get ready to meet a client in New York to discuss a house that he wants to buy. He insists that we do it in person.”
“Oh, okay. Well, when do you get back?”
“Late tomorrow night.”
“Ok. Do you want to have lunch with your father and me on Sunday?”
“Sure, that sounds great.”
“Sydney?” a voice sounded from the background. It was his father
“I’m in here Michael, on the phone with Ryan. We’re going to lunch with him on Sunday.”
“I’ll let you go Mom, I have to pick up some paperwork from the office before I leave. Tell Dad I said hi.”
“Ok, honey, See you Sunday.”
“Bye, Mom.”
“Bye, Ryan. I love you.”
“Love you, too” click. Not long after, the phone rang again.
“Hello?”
“Hi, umm is this Wal-Mart?”
“Sorry, wrong number.” He tried to hide his excitement. He gets to go meet Abby!
“Ok, sorry to bother you. I have a question though. Where is one located?
“On the corner of Market, and 32nd.”
“Thank you.” Click. He was off to meet her.
When he reached the warehouse, she was already there.
“So, you’re off to Rome.”
“Yes, to bad I can’t eat in my father’s favorite restaurant.”
“Yes, to bad.” Awkward pause.
“We’ll, your counter mission is to make a dead drop of the artifact in the airport and we will have it back in your bag when you get in the baggage claim. See you when you get back. Be careful.”
“Ok, I will.”
“Bye.”
“Bye.” He was off to catch his plane….
