Best Minister was pulled because he didn't take his feed and he coughed three times. Now most of the triple crown winners went up against a small field and a field of six is what I call small. I have a feeling that we might just have another triple crown winner here....

Maybe... I'm still not sure if Funny Cide can go a mile and a half... he's by Distorted Humor, who I don't think could get a mile and a half (his big race wins were at 1 mile) even with Danzig and Forty Niner in his pedigree. Of course, I just want to see Empire Maker win 'cause I love the horse and I want to see Frankel FINALLY win a triple crown race. It depends on what Empire Maker will bring... if he's at his best and Funny Cide is at his best, it will be a very interesting race. Dynever and Scrimshaw are the only other horses with some sort of chance, I think.

ya. but i think it's gonna be a duel out between empire maker and funny cide. Funny cide have come a long way. well we'll see in three days...

:( Funny cide lost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *cries hysterically* NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! but on the other hand. Empire Maker won :D he was my fav going into the Kentucky Derby but seeing Funny Cide run the Preakness made me like him better. oh well the best horse won today. truely a test of the Champions. :D

STILL! Funny Cide have came sooooo far. poor him. and it was a really sloppy track too! I call for a re-run!

Funny Cide didn't lose the race because of the muddy track, I don't think. He seemed to be handling it. But he was really strong early on... if you watch his jockey's position compared to like Empire Maker's... Jose Santos was basically wrestling with Funny Cide throughout the first half or so of the race. I think that's why he lost... when a horse pulls like that constantly, even if he's not allowed to run (Santos did a pretty good job keeping him from going too fast), it tires him out.

My dad and I both were rooting for Empire Maker though... I just love this horse. Too bad we didn't bet anything... we would have won some money. I'm glad Frankel finally got his first triple crown race. :D And Jerry Bailey, Empire Maker's jockey, called Empire Maker the best 3 yr old he's ever ridden. And he's ridden some good horses... so... wow.

Nevertheless, it would have been cool to see a triple crown winner... but there's always next year. And now we can look forward to the next matchup between Funny Cide and Empire Maker... it's currently FC-1, EM-2.

lol ya. i saw his jockey's position. i would never be able to stand/sit on a horse like that. it's just so wierd. and yes i know that funny cide have done well on semi-sloppy tracks before. but still! i wanted a triple crown winner! oh well I love Empire Maker. he's so pretty too :D

Yeah, I've ridden in short stirrups while standing up while a horse is pulling me around, and it was hard! Takes a lot of balance. And this horse I was riding was most definately not as strong as Funny Cide must have been! Hats off to Santos, and every other jockey... people think that jockeys aren't very athletic... that's crazy. That profession takes so much more skill than many other sports.

Willie Shoemaker... one of the greatest jockeys of all time... he's now paralyzed. But whoops, I forgot that was from a car accident anyways.

New examples, Julie Krone and Mike Smith. Both suffered almost career ending accidents. I saw both of their big accidents and man were they scary!

uggghhh just imagine being ran over by 1000 pound over animals.. *shudder*
