I've created a poll so you can vote on your favourite Doctor Who Actors from Television episodes.
I could only add 10 options, so I have left out Paul Mcgann the 8th Doctor who was only in the one telemovie.

Also there have been numerous Actors and one Actress who have played the Doctor (sometimes uncredited) either filling in for sick main Actors or as Alternative Doctors (Including Dr Who Comic Relief episodes)
These have been left out of the poll, these being
Brian Proudfoot, Edmund Warwick, Albert Ward, Gordon Craig, Chris Jeffries, Tommy Laird,
Adrian Gibbs, Michael Jayston, Geoffrey Hughes, Rowan Atkinson, Richard E Grant, Jim Broadbent,
Hugh Grant, Joanna Lumley, Toby Jones, Daniel Anthony.
Also Mark Gatiss played the Doctor in a Sketch titled "The Web of Caves"

My Favourites are Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker I really enjoyed their years of Dr Who and think those two Actors were great with their styles and unique voices.

Feel free to comment on Who are your favourite Doctors or Who is your favourite and why if you like.

I just increased it to a max of 20. Should be enough for most polls for now.

Speaking of Paul McGann, do most fans consider the made-for-TV movie part of the canon series or as a "Doctor" outside of canon like Peter Cushing in Doctor Who movies from the '60s?

Same here. As a kid in the '70s I remember fondly watching Doctor Who on the local PBS station here in the States, first with Pertwee driving that yellow car of his and then Baker with the long scarf and a bag of Jelly Babies always at the ready in his coat pocket. I really did not care for Colin Baker nor Sylvester McCoy in the role.

Even now, some 30~ years after appearing as the Doctor, it is usually Baker's image used to portray the character.

Heh heh ...

I vote for the original, lovely Tom, Ecclestone, and Tennant.

If I could only have had one choice I'd have hard put to choose between Tom and Matthew.

Thanks Kevin for increasing the maximum number of poll questions. I can't see an option anymore to edit the post though so I think I will have to leave poor old Paul Mcgann out.

Peter Cushing played a human who was an inventor and not a Time Lord and was in two Movies.

Paul Mcgann was still the Eighth Doctor and is part of the canon series even though he was only in one made for Television movie.

Definitely pertwee for me, with Tom Baker coming in a close second, after them for me the show went through a period I really didnt enjoy as the actors seemed a bit limp tbh and I subsequently stopped watching it.

Oddly enough I bought the entire first series eccleston did, but never got around to watching it, i'm going to have to change that as I know tennant was pretty good as well.

I think Colin Baker was the beginning of the real decline before the original series was cancelled. With that multi-colored coat & big bow tie, he made me think more of a clown then a centuries old time traveller.

Start watching! The 'new' Who episodes starting with Eccleston are, mostly, pretty decent and have allowed new fans to jump into the Who mythos without knowing too much about the 'classic' Who years. One of the big differences is that the 'new' Who companions are a much bigger part of the story arcs and connect with the audience in a way reminiscent of Sarah Jane with Baker.

.
I agree there, Colin Baker I don't think ever did the role justice, he was the beginning of the jester years, with Davidson and the Gods awful McCoy really screwing it up...lol

I'll definitely give the Eccleston set a go when time allows, its always the same round here, one thing or another stopping us watching an entire series..lol

I haven't watched the original series in it's entirety although after watching the new ones and loving them so much, I feel I much go back and watch at least to pay tribute to where they started. I think Matt Smith makes a very likable doctor but in my mind David Tennant will always be The Doctor.

imho the McGann was extra-canonical, but I don't follow as close as I useta.
I rather liked Colin Baker, tho the episodes were iffy. personally I don't blame the shows decline on the actors. I always thought the BBC never respected the show and it took the next gen to treat it with respect.

CBaker to me represented a Doctor who was just a bit unsteady, which a supergenius like he would be.
