High School Questions

um hum, there is a lot of people that owns the cars, but the bus isn't too bad, At first the 'tall' people can be intimidating. but not anymore. i mean i survived my first year and it's was fine. as long as you dont' mess with them, they won't mess with you. that's my advice to all you freshmen to bes.

anyways, tell us 8th graders about your first day of high school!
Well, i got there first.
Then i went to class!
ANdi didn't get lost, or feel intimidated!
i'll probably be late to class. 1st year of middle school was fun b/c everyone just raced everywhere. it was a bug silly competition to get eveyrwhere 1st....basically we just bolted around the 4th floor, except for gym n unified arts. i remember when i though the school was shapped like a giant o...it was a u! :( then i got intruoble for using the "forbidden" staircase...its not blocked off but its forbidden for use. ::sigh::

i should have just gone to the sci school i got accpeted to, practically all my buddies r going there. i only know one person going to townsend harris, n shes too clingy...she insists on doing all the labs w/ me n mary in science. so annoying!

lol. you should've went. I would've, but then on the other hand, i'm obessed with science. don't worry you won't be late. I had a map on the first day of school so i didnt' get lost. by the second day, i knew my way around the school (on the other hand it's not too big so...) any ways people who think that they're gonna get lost. you won't. just find a map or something.

i'm gonna need a giganto map!!! there r 6 floors!!! good thing i didn't go 2 laguardia....12 floors of art/dance/n music rooms!!! ahhhhhh!

we only have 2 and probably not even 100 class rooms. ugh, schools in the states are big!

my skoo dont got that much..we suffering from overcrowded rooms..theres like 40 when theres suppose to be 25..my skoo sucks...skoo sucks period...

actually i like school. as much as i love to stay on AA all day it's just not as rewarding as school. I mean it's rewarding when you work hard and it takes effort and energy yet on the other hand when you ace a test or get a good grade you always get this warm fuzzy, nice feeling in side. plus i would hate being away from my friends, one of the only few downsides of summer.

It's a long running tradition at my high school to tell the freshmen to go to "Room 119"... which for some odd reason doesn't exist. We've got 118 and 120...but no 119. Anyway, on my first day- no one told me to go to 119, all the people I asked directions from were extremely nice. I wasn't intimidated- but then again, I'm just as tall as some of the seniors. ;)

Seems everyone has a secret power trip though... my advice, never cut in front of an upperclassmen in the lunch line... very bad idea. Like mystery_chick said, don't mess with them, they won't mess with you.

But alas, I'm at an all-girls Catholic high school, so maybe my environment is different than yours... but the rules still apply I suppose.

Take it from me, you'll do just fine on your first day... remember there's hundreds of other people just like you, extremely nervous. Be personable, and they'll flock to you like flies to a zapper! bad analogy...

As a sidenote...Yay! I'm officially an upperclassmen now! :woot:

yeah, at my high school, i heard there were some evil upperclassmen selling the naive freshmen "elevator passes." which is funny because our school has no elevator.

but no one ever did it to me. i always just heard stories, never really seen anything. ^_^

yeah, my school doesn't have an elevator either! But some horrible people were selling incoming freshmen books that are discontinued for next year! Isn't that awful? No conscience!

To answer your question aliasgurl, middle school wasn't that much different. And this is coming from a girl who went from K-8 to high school. The only thing is there are more people... and this means more people to "impress". I learned to accept the fact that there are always going to be those few people that are high on their own ego fumes.

I think another huge difference between the 8th to 9th transition is how much louder I've become. Sounds funny, but it's true. I've become a lot more confident these past two years of high school. I think finding people that make me feel good about myself is what made me the bullhorn I am today. ;)

Oh! I almost forgot. Homework. Freshman year I thought, 'Oh, this is so easy! I'm never going to have homework!!' Well, I was wrong...this year came around, and wham-bam-thank you ma'am...my first actual taking-home-of-the-books experience in years. And when I heard "Finals" uttered from the mouths of the upperclassmen... boy, the way they made it sound- I wanted to head for the hills!

But trust me, there's no need to become a cavewoman, high school is just a bunch of middle schools together in one place with teachers from hell.

Wow, long explanation. Ya know-- just showin' off my upperclassmen swank. Ya baby!
