Lots of people just post because they want a higher rank or whatever... which is number 1) stupid (in my opinion) and 2) annoying ^_^

i know there are some ppl on here who post 2 or 3 times in a row and just post "hi ___!" or "LMAO!" or something like that, which DOES get annoying ^_^ but then there are other ppl who try to make every post meaninful.

Remember though, the Random is also a place where cliques are to go to. I'm not sure exactly why it was moved because I don't recall ever moving it but that was probably the reason.

Yes, it seems the best way of doing things is to keep it the way it is now and tweak a few things if neccessary. (like getting admin approval before starting new topics in Random)

Getting admin approval is a great idea because so many useless threads are being created.

But some cliques would be able to exist in the ML if they didn't get random, i.e. the Boyfriendless/Girlfriendless... because people told stories about their dateless lives and gave advice, etc. And I don't mean to pinpoint anyone, but the reason why TC is random is because it is hardly about tomboys.

I agree with Siri on the Cat Lovers point. The Boyfriendless/Girlfriendless was able to stay because it stayed on topic. I don't see why the Cat Lovers had to move. It stayed on topic and was just as productive.

another example. we are talking about this issue in the dr pie thread right now as well. my posts there are jsut as meaningful as they are here, yet here they count and there they dont. this just doesnt make sense to me.

But that's the consequence of it being a random thread. There are certain times when some meaningful things come up but there's nothing we can do about that. The people posting in that thread chose for it to be random and when something meaningful comes then it just doesn't count.

But shouldn't the college clique be the same thing... talk about college? Why was it started in Random?

What's wrong with merging the forums and making posts count, but only having ONE topic that is heavily watched and moderated?

We're planning un upgrading to Invision 1.2 soon (it's currenty in testing [beta] phases), and it includes the ability to warn members. Mods/admins would warn members once per double post, and if it gets to 100% (10 warns) they would be put on probation.

You mean random threads? That was an idea. To merge all random threads into one random thread, or as you put it, the talking thread. Other specific topics would be allowed, as long as they stayed on topic.

yeah but that will never happen. People almost never stay on topic, and you can't force them too. Eventually somebody would go offtopic.

I'm not sure if they'd have their own archive forum, but yes, they will still exist. They won't be deleted.

They wouldn't be "archived" but they would be closed and kept in the member's lounge.
