Il Dire, The Telling. The device of Rambaldi.

Sark is the one who tipped off the location of Sloane, NOT Irina. But Irina apprently knew where Sloane and Il Dire was, in Mexico City. This is where she tells Sydney, "Get Sloane!" Perhaps to stop him from using the device. Sydney, instead, chases after her mom. Irina reveals to Sydney that she is the One in the Prophecy, that only she can stop Sloane.

Irina said that Sloane thought that he was chosen to hear the word of Rambaldi. Perhaps this word reaches Sloane through Il Dire, The Telling? And how would Sydney stop Sloane from receiving this word?

Part of the Il Dire was the De Regno heart, a machine, an artificial heart. Rambaldi was fascinated with immortality, trying to find a way to circumvent cell degeneration. The heart is what kept De Regno alive--he had no other "real" heart, and he was of old age. The heart sustained him.

Sloane said that Jack would be helping him sooner than he thinks. Was Jack needed for the device? He is the father of the One. Maybe that is why Sloane kept him. Maybe he used him for something.

Sydney has a brawl with Francie. Sydney, near death, wakes up. It is two years later. Sydney is alive. Will, too, is alive after being stabbed by Francie.
  • SYDNEY: What happened to Will? To Francie? Are they dead?

    VAUGHN: Will's okay.

    SYDNEY: What? How?

    VAUGHN: You... Sit down.
Vaughn seemed to have made a clue that Sydney saved him. How did Sydney save him? Maybe Sydney used Il Dire to save him. Maybe unintentionally, unconsciously. It could have been Irina that used the device on Sydney. The device does contain the De Regno heart, a sign of life. Maybe it also kept Sydney alive. Going back to Irina using the device, maybe that is why Sloane needed Jack--Sydney's blood (which contains Jack's and Irina's) needed to activate it. Why not use Irina? Sloane knew that she was going to betray him (there was a scene in which Sloane confronts Irina that was cut out, I believe). Irina knew more about the Sloane-Rambaldi relationship than Jack did. She must have known what Sloane wanted the device for--for his own good. Irina got the device from Sloane and used it on Sydney. Sydney, since Irina used the device on her, was the one who received The Telling, the word of Rambaldi, instead of Sloane. This explains her insight into the future (drawing from other theories). But Sydney is not aware of this, explaining her loss of memory.

The two years part is unclear to me, still. Again, drawing from other theories, it may not actually be the future, but a Telling of the (possible) future.

Sloane had Page 47, but he did not know what was on it because it was written in invisible ink. Sydney stole it from him before its message could be revealed.

I doubt that Irina would have told Sloane that it was Sydney in the Prophecy, but Sloane may already know this because he was 'chosen.' The manuscript he received from Conrad could have possible elaborated on the Prophecy.

i wonder if he knows or not? and if he does, why doesn't he make it obious on the show?
Nothing is ever obvious on Alias  Truth Takes Time

:eek:fftopic: Regarding the writing process, J.J. is not the only writeer on the show. In fact, I think he's written only two or three eps in Season 3. The writers make up a whole team. A group of around 10. They discuss what will happen on the show. Then only one, sometimes two writers write the actual episode. Then the script goes to story editors/other writers who make corrections and add things. Then it's time to film, and then more editing.

J.J. said that Season 3 would open with a shock, so they must know what's going to happen at least early in the season, but later episodes have yet to be thought about.

okay, so he may know, he may not. If he does not know that Sydney is the "chosen one", then why would he need Jack? And if he does know, perhaps from the newly acquired manuscript, what will he do to stop Sydney?

But then again, he may have read on that manuscript how everything comes out, and see no need to do anything about Syd.

And on the subject of Sloane being 'chosen', I remember clearly Irina saying, "Sloane believes he is the chosen one." Believes. Meaning..what? He is quite sure that he is the chosen one, but why him? It is now that Conrad enters my thoughts. Maybe Sloane really is the chosen one, it is very clear that the 'things that had to happen.. for [him] to understand' have happened, and he now understands. But what is it that he understands?

I just cannot understand why he would be the chosen one.

The Telling is more important than we all think....at least that's what I'm thinking....JJ put something deeper in the show than we can think of!

If he does not know that Sydney is the "chosen one", then why would he need Jack? And if he does know, perhaps from the newly acquired manuscript, what will he do to stop Sydney?
A new thought came to mind. Sloane said to Jack (not an exact quote), "Sydney will no longer be a pawn in our ventures." This would lead me to believe that he does not know about Sydney, but I can't be too sure.

What do you mean AliasALIAS?
If Sloane is disregarding Sydney, then he must not realize her importance.

Again, I'm just speculating.
