Insanity is Just a Word

HEY! I'm jet lagged, but ready to type! So, this is my fic, Insanity is Just a Word. Yeah, me and my odd titles. But, as always, it makes sense, eventually.

So, this is in the second person, because I felt that it worked with the insanity plot. Sydney's second person POV.

Summary: What if your life was perfect. And then you realized, it wasn't yours?

You've never been happier.

Not that you've had too many good days in your life, but of the few that were at least decent, this definitely tops

You've just returned from your one year anniversary dinner, with your amazing husband, Michael. He's paying the baby-sitter, who now walks past you, a smile on her face because A: she just finished watching a screaming baby, and B: got paid quite a large sum for going it.

You walk upstairs and over to Nancy's crib, and you pick her up. She has your eyes and Michael's green eyes. You fervently hope that they won't change color as she gets older.

"How's Daddy's little girl?" asks a recognizable voice behind you.
"Hungry, I think," you reply, picking up the bottle that you grabbed on the way up here, and place it in your child's mouth.

You remember your wedding day, today more than others. The two of you rarely fought, and then you did, you resolved it quickly. It is still the case today.

You married simply because you were in love: not because you were pregnant, which you weren't, nor because you needed an escape. You were just in love. As simple as that. And you've never doubted that emotion.

You hand Nancy to her father, and head off to bed, exhausted. You get this way a lot lately, but you've brushed it off, thinking your daughter's frequent cries interrupt your sleep.

Not long after, you feel Michael climb into bed with you. You turn slightly, so you can get a good look at the brown eyes that look back at you.

No. Not brown. Green. Green eyes, you are the one with brown eyes.

Where did brown come from? You wonder.

After thinking that over for a while, you fall asleep.

"Peter?" you hear yourself say. "Did you find my earring?"
"Yeah..." you hear a male voice call back. "And I also found this." A man you assume to be Peter exits from the bathroom. Holding a pregnancy test. "When were you planning on telling me."
"I-I hadn't even looked at the results yet." You take the test from his hand, and look at the small box before you. You look up at this Peter. "I think we're gonna have a baby."

The smell of bacon wakes you abruptly from your not so sweet slumber. You wipe the sweat off your forehead, and slowly climb out of bed.

This isn't the first time you've had dreams about the man called Peter. It isn't the first time you've watched a scene, almost from a movie, play out before your eyes. Or the first time that you emerge from your bedroom, to go downstairs where Pet- Michael tells you how you slept so soundly last night, didn't even hear the baby's cries.

This is the first time however, where before you could respond to that, you black out.

"Tina? Tina?" asks a voice.
"Hmm... Tina?" You moan, head throbbing.
"G-d, are you with us?"
"Michael?" You mumble, your mouth feeling like an anvil, too heavy to move.
"No, Tina. You're not in LA." The blurry world around you becomes clearer.
"Peter?" You gasp, shocked at the face before you. Yes, sweetheart. Do you remember me this time?"
This time? you wonder. "No."

You take in your surrounding, You can't place where you are, but it feels familiar. And resented.

You try to sit up, and you feel a sharp pain in your arm.

Morphine.

You look up at Peter, eyes full of confusion.

"You'll thank them for it when the headache disappears."

Which, of course, is when the head ache hits.

You've been shot, but that compares in not way to the pounding in your head at this moment.

Then, the morphine kicks in, and the pain is gone. You look to the side of you. Two stony, strong looking men, and a man who appears to be a doctor are standing there.

"Where am I?" you ask, mouth still feeling like pudding.
"You don't remember," says Peter solemnly. "You never do." You look up at Peter's tired, yet handsome face.

"You're in the Nevada State Mental Institution."

MWAHAHAHA  Don't you love my cliffhangers?

Ok, I just want to make some things clear before I post the next chapter, which will be as soon as people start posting more :hint hint:

No, they're not under an alias. Sydney IS this Tina person, and I know that makes no sense, but it will.

And Vic, LOL no, its not an amnesia fic. Well, not really. She can't remember, but its not amnesia. :sigh:

I can't really explain without giving it away, LOL. So, if whoever's reading this POSTS then, I'll put up the next chapter. I have like 7 chapters done, so the faster you post, the sooner it gets up.

Luve ya,
Dani

HEY GUYS! I was going to post more yesterday but um... site was kinda down. SORRY! I'll post more ASAP, I've just got to finish this English paper, and type it up. If I don't get it up tonight, don't shoot me, because the next chapter is really long, the longest I've ever written in a single chapter. Like 6/7 pages.

Luve ya,
Dani
