there's actually something to it actually. Most ppl who plays flute. or at least those are serious about it actually really cares about band. Like in my band the flute section is always the best behaved ones. it's kinda strange actually....Victoria King said:

Really? In my band the flutes are kind of clueless and don't really care. I do, and some of my friends do, but some of the others could care less.
And there's the fact that when the director says "Anyone who doesn't want to be here, get out now!" half of us actually consider leaving. And it's mostly the squad leaders.

thats how our band is! we flutes always always get complimented on our lines and on our vocals and basically everything! :lol: but last night! ACK! i wanted to leave honestly, they kept yelling at us section leaders because we were talking to our lines but actually we were trying to get the stupid diagonals in line so we were doing what they told us to do! :angry2: i was quite upset!mystery_chick said:there's actually something to it actually. and patomac your band sounds like my band in it being the biggest, we have over three hundred people!

oh wow. Mine's not big at all than compared to yours. one of ours have around 70 and the other 90. and both bands flute sections is around 20 -30 :lol: it's like a third of the band :lol: it's crazy. even though only like a few are good!

the flutes are the biggest in my band to...followed closly by the trumpets...they're are only like 8 clarinets tho.

Gosh you people have small bands. When I was in Middle School, we had six bands of about 80- 100 some people each. For now in High School, we just have one giant marching band, and then four smaller ones based on skill. (I wanna get into concert. Wow! That's a lofty goal for a freshman. ) And out of our whole band, there are about 40 flutes. We're pretty evenly balanced for the numbers we need actually.
There are millions of trumpets. When we signed up, everyone wanted to be a sax or a percussionist.

I've been playing piano for 5 years now i think not too sure.... I've been playing flute for about 4.... I picked up trumpet last summer so I could play in the Jazz Band which by the way kicks Symphonic Bands ass!! I thinking about learning to bass or guitar or something.
The band I play in isn't too big..... about 60 but I'm movin up to the high school this year so I'm not too sure how many people are in that band.

see, at my school, playing an instrument is an obligation...part of our music curriculum and stuff, so being in the school band is an obligation too, but last year, the grafe 7 band had 147 members, and i dont know about grade 8 but they had aprox. 115 members....yah so thats our school bands!
i play clarinet, and it rox! i wanted to play sax at first, but i got my 2nd choice of clarinet, and its fun!

I'm sad... the band at Marquette isn't that great. I'm going to look into joining a Milwaukee symphony or something.

leah what instrument do you play?! i think i remember....flute possibly because we were talking about stars and stripes somewhere on this massive board...but i forgot! sorry if its not flute!
and ACK! for flute choir this year we are doing william tell overture! and i got piccolo part 1 and ACK! my teacher wants me to die! double tonguing and all those sixteenth notes in the high octaves..high A's and high B's.........ack! lol!!! oh well...time to practice!
