LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "Alias" star Jennifer Garner (news) will replace Gwyneth Paltrow (news) in the indie feature "Happy Endings," which is set to shoot this summer in Los Angeles.
Lisa Kudrow (news) continues to be attached to the $10 million film, written and to be directed by Don Roos, who previously collaborated with her in "The Opposite of Sex."
Sources said Paltrow's departure stems from her feeling the need to take time off to grieve the loss of her father, Bruce Paltrow (news), who died in October while she was in production on "Ted and Sylvia." The actress is currently in production on "The World of Tomorrow."
"Happy Endings" is described as a contemporary comedy set in Los Angeles involving three intertwining stories with 10 characters. The first story is about a father and son who are involved with the same woman (Garner). The second focuses on two couples in which one of the men may have fathered the other couple's child. The third is about a woman (Kudrow) who gave up a baby for adoption 19 years ago and meets a blackmailing documentary filmmaker who might know where the child is. Meanwhile, her boyfriend, a masseur, may be giving out "happy endings" at the massage parlor.
Garner is in production on Revolution Studios' "13 Going on 30." She most recently starred on the big screen in "Daredevil."
